Real Life Instagram: Life Imitating App

Last year we saw a concept for a pair of glasses that applies Instagram’s filters through its lenses. Bruno Ribeiro took a more literal approach with his Real Life Instagram series, taking not just Instagram’s filters but its entire interface into the real world.

But the thing that makes Real Life Instagram so effective is its acknowledgement of the app users’ tastes. Bruno frames random objects – oftentimes just portions of them – with his cardboard interface, pre-liked and pre-hashtagged.

Instagramception. Ah, the failure of freedom. When you give everyone the ability to express themselves, you’ll quickly realize that most of us don’t have anything worthwhile to say. But I’d still take that over silence any day.

iRobot’s First Look Robot Will Give First Responders A Leg Up On Crime

iRobot's Law Enforcement Drone Will Protect First Responders From HarmI’ve a great deal of respect for first responders, but I’d never want their jobs. These men and women flirt with death on a daily basis, dealing with everything from chemical hazards to domestic disputes. It’s not an easy job…but thanks to iRobot, it might have just gotten a little easier.

Nexus 5 and 10 2013 imminent even as fakes appear

Woz: No, no, I wasn’t criticizing the new iPads

Woz would like to make a fine point or two.

(Credit: GameInformer/YouTube Screenshot by Chris Matyszczyk/CNET)

A thunderous silence descended on Cupertino and all points north, east, and south, after Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was said to have criticized Apple’s latest gadgets.

Last week, he was quoted by several UK publications as having said apparently painful things such as: “When I finally took a look at the devices, the iPads didn’t hit my needs.”

Then there was this on the iPad Air: “Yes it’s thinner. But I wanted storage. I don’t have broadband at home, so I carry all my personal media in the iPad. So I was hoping Apple has a 256GB iPad.”

Now Woz would like to make two things clear: He wasn’t criticizing the new iPads, and he was misquoted.

In an e-mail to Gina Smith, the author of his memoir, Woz explained: I never criticized the new iPads. I think they are fine. I don’t think you have a choice between iPad models so that’s just saying that the iPad is good…that’s a very different statement (and contrary to the implication) that, if I chose not to upgrade now, less than a year after my last upgrade, then I, Woz, am saying that the ne… [Read more]

You probably use Google everyday, but do you know… the Google Snake Game? Googledromes? Memecodes? Googlesport? The Google Calculator? Googlepark and Google Weddings? Google hacking, fighting and rhyming? In this book, you’ll find Google-related games, oddities, cartoons, tips, stories and everything else that’s fun. New Retina MacBook Pro Owners Facing Issues With Trackpad And Keyboard

New Retina MacBook Pro Owners Facing Issues With Trackpad And Keyboard

On October 22nd, at its media event, Apple unveiled a refreshed lineup of Retina MacBook Pro. The new laptops come with Intel Haswell processors as well as decent price cuts. Unlike the new tablets that were announced that day, customers don’t have to wait to get their hands on a new late 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. Some owners of the new laptops have taken to the Apple Support Communities to voice issues that they’re facing with the trackpad and the keyboard. It is not known at this point in time if the issues are being caused due to a fault in hardware or due to a software glitch. Both 13 and 15 inch models are said to be affected by these issues.

As per the numerous postings on Apple Support Communities, many new Retina MacBook Pro owners have to deal with the keyboard and trackpad randomly freezing up. Apparently resetting the machine’s System Management Controller does no good. Some say that closing the lid and opening it back up after a minute or so brings the trackpad back to life. Others say that the keyboard and trackpad refuse to work until they hard reset the machine through its power button. Apple hasn’t commented on these issues as yet, so it can’t be said for sure if the company’s looking into it or not.
