When Nokia announced a couple of years ago for forgo Symbian in favor of Microsoft’s Windows Phone handset, many were perplexed especially since Windows Phone was hardly the most profitable platform at the moment, and we guess the best alternative would be Google’s open-sourced mobile platform, Android. The Microsoft Xbox One will come bundled with a Kinect sensor. Previously Microsoft had stated that the Kinect needed to be on all the time to get the Xbox One to function, but has since backtracked on that. However we’re sure that there are still some users out there who might be a little paranoid about the Kinect’s microphone and camera, and that technically Microsoft could use those tools to “spy” on them and track their movements, at least within the home. Well the good news is that peripheral manufacturer, PDP, has announced an accessory for the Kinect which not only lets you mount the sensor on a television, but does it in such a way that it blocks the device’s camera at the same time.
According to the product’s description on Amazon, the mount will be able to block both RGB and IR cameras and will play nicely with just about any flatscreen television. This should help assuage the fears of those who are worried the Kinect will be used by Microsoft to help deliver targeted ads, although Microsoft has denied that such a thing will not be happening. In any case PDP’s accessory is set for a release on the 4th of December, not too long after the Xbox One has been released, and for those interested in getting their hands on it, you can expect to pay a rather affordable $19.99 for it.

There’s nothing wrong with the design of Google Glass, although we guess there are some who might prefer if it looked more “normal”, as it if it managed to blend with current eye-wear as opposed to looking like something out of a sci-fi movie. While the next version of Google Glass remains to be seen, Sean Percival decided that instead of waiting for Google to do something about it, he would take it upon himself to redesign Google Glass to look cooler. What he did was that he took apart Google Glass before attaching the key components to a pair of sunglasses, which in his case was a pair of Persols.
The Google Glass component was attached to the glasses via a black cable tie, which while not the neatest solution, helped it blend it with the frames, so for those of you planning to go with patterned frames, you might have a tougher time trying to get it to blend. All in all attaching Google Glass to his Persol pair of sunglasses was not too difficult and according to Percival, he noticed a drop in people staring at him as he was out. In any case while this does help cut down on the weird/curious looks that people give you, there are establishments out there that have made it illegal to wear Google Glass, so this is worth taking note of.
