Spray-on Starpath Makes Roads Glow Like the Starry Night Sky at Night

No, you’re not dreaming. The pavement is actually twinkling like the stars in the sky, and it’s all thanks to Starpath. It’s a spray-on paint that transforms regular pathways into glow-in-the-dark ones.

Aside from the novel aspect of it, Starpath might also some day serve as a low-cost alternate means for outdoor lighting.  Starpath can be sprayed onto a variety of surfaces, like concrete, tarmac, and wood. It absorbs UV energy during the day and releases this energy by “lighting up” at night.

The technology behind it was developed by UK-based company Pro-Teq Surfacing. Hamish Scott, owner of Pro-Teq, explains: “This product adjusts to the natural light, so if it is pitch black outside the luminous natural earth enhances, and if the sky is lighter, it won’t release as much luminosity. It adjusts accordingly, its almost like it has a mind of its own. Further, the surface is environmentally-friendly and aesthetically pleasing.”

Starpath is currently being tested on the footpath in Christ’s Pieces, which is a well-known park in Cambridge, England.

Boston, St. Louis Newspapers Front Pages Treat World Series Obstruction Differently (PHOTOS)

Not surprisingly, the obstruction call on the final play of Game 3 of the 2013 World Series was received differently in St. Louis than it was in Boston. It was also portrayed a bit differently by local newspapers reporting for readers in either city.

Both the Boston Globe and Boston Herald played up the contentiousness of those final moments of Game 3 while the St. Louis Post-Dispatch was a bit more focused on the result. For the Globe, the obstruction ruling was the “much-disputed call.” The Herald referred to it as the “controversial call.”

AT&T Moto X Now Costs $99 Through Moto Maker

Earlier this month we reported that Best Buy had slashed the prices of Moto X on contract, merely after a month of it being launched. The Moto X is the first flagship smartphone that Motorola has produced as a Google company. It has decent specifications and has been a welcome addition in this year’s Android lineup. It was actually rumored back in September that prices of this smartphone will be dropped to $100 on contract, and we’ve seen that happen. Though now the Moto X is available for just $99 on contract through Moto Maker, the first time the price has dropped for the customizable variant.

That’s $99 on contract for the 16GB Moto X, 32GB one costs $149. Since Moto Maker is exclusive to AT&T right now, the two year contract can only be with AT&T if you want to customize your Moto X. Though it has already been said that Moto Maker will be opened up for other carriers. Rumor has it that Verizon customers may finally get Moto Maker on November 11th. If they do, then not only will they be able to pick up the device for $99, they’ll also be able to use over 2,000 customization options that Moto Maker offers to add their own unique touch to their Moto X smartphone.

Facebook Video Ads Launch Apparently Delayed Until 2014

Facebook Video Ads Launch Apparently Delayed Until 2014

So we heard back in December 2012 that Facebook was preparing to launch video ads in News Feed by April 2013. April came and the world’s largest social network didn’t switch on video advertisements. It was then rumored in June that Facebook had pushed back the launch until Fall 2013 due to a number of features it wanted to launch alongside video ads. Fall begun and got most of wondering when Facebook video ads are going to be launched, but it seems that the launch might happen this year.

Several sources have apparently told AllThingsD that Facebook has been advising some of its advertiser clients to not count on video ads being launched before 2014. The reason why it has done that is believed to be concerns about upsetting users with video ads that will play automatically, though will require user action to turn on the audio. Apparently video ads are in demand and advertisers want Facebook to switch them on, but the social network seems to be pondering over the risk of irking its user base with video ads. Facebook hasn’t officially commented on this rumor as yet, so it can’t be said for sure if video ads have really been pushed back. Video ads will definitely become a major source of revenue for Facebook as advertisers would pour in money to reach its over 1 billion users around the globe. The question remains though, how would those users react to seeing video ads in their News Feeds? What do you think, should Facebook go ahead with it or should it consider another channel of advertisements?
