American animator PES is known for his mind-bending shorts featuring everyday objects.

In his Academy Award-nominated “Fresh Guacamole,” strange things happen on a kitchen coutertop.

One of his latest YouTube uploads is “The Deep,” an enchanting animation featuring metal tools as bizarre aquatic creatures, but ones that are eerily lifelike.

The short was first released in 2010 and appeared on Showtime’s YouTube channel but PES has uploaded it in high-def to his own channel.

Amusement Park Ride-On Rollercoaster brings the theme park to you

Amusement Park Railroad
Even though we’re always aging, that doesn’t necessarily mean we’re getting ‘older’. Age is just a matter of the mind, and if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter. Staying young at heart is where it really counts, as you want to always be looking at the world as if it was the first time. You can’t have fun if you think everything is terrible.

While many rely on their imaginations or hobbies for entertainment, some prefer to purchase what they think is fun. Anything can be exciting if you look at it in the right light, but generally, an amusement park is a pretty good time no matter what. Sadly, going to one is usually only a day long excursion, and you leave wishing that you could take your favorite ride home with you. Well, if you got the money, then the Amusement Park Ride-On Railroad can be yours.

Of course, you need to be willing to part with around $23,000, but this will get you an 60′x80′ oval of 7 1/2” wide track.  There are two passenger cars which sit behind the two main cars where you can control the speed, go forward or reverse, and brake. There’s even a 50-watt sound system in this thing so you can hear all the locomotive sounds you would mentally pair with riding a train. The frames are made of powder-coated steel with cast-iron couplers, aluminum trucks, and wood which can hold about 1,600 pounds at once. Of course, if it’s at its maximum weight limit, I doubt you’ll be able to go at the highest speed.  It will run for about 6 hours on four 12-volt DC batteries, and should hold up for quite some time once it’s all set up.

Available for purchase on Hammacher-Schlemmer

US The Last Bastion For The Nintendo Wii As Europe Folds

US The Last Bastion For The Nintendo Wii As Europe FoldsAll good things must come to an end, that is one of the cardinal rules of life. The Nintendo WIi, which was originally scoffed at by certain quarters for its “waggle controls”, managed to have quite a fair run in its lifetime to date. The thing is, the console has more or less reached the end of its lifespan, with the Land of the Rising Sun being the first region to discontinue it. Now, we have word that Europe will be joining Japan in this aspect, stopping all shipments of the Nintendo Wii. That would make North America as the Wii’s final bastion, and as we described it earlier a couple of days ago, the Wii’s discontinuation in Japan will not affect the console’s availability in the US, at least not in the immediate future.

Nintendo of America did mention to GameSpot, “There is no change in the status of Wii in the United States and it is available for purchase this holiday season.” For those of you who happen to live in Europe, fret not – I am quite sure that there is still a healthy supply of new and used consoles in stores, as well as the Wii Mini in select territories. Alternatively, you can always make a push for the Wii U, which is what Nintendo would most probably have liked you to do anyways.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Trailer Debuts

I have some fond memories from my childhood watching the Captain America series in reruns on television during the summer. I will admit though, Captain America is probably my least favorite of the Avengers and I thought the first Captain America movie was a little too cartoonish compared to the quality of other Marvel superhero films. That doesn’t mean I won’t be going to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier when it hits theaters.

A new teaser trailer for the film has been released this week, showing off cast members Robert Redford, Scarlett Johansson, and Samuel L. Jackson among others. The exact plot for the new movie is still a mystery, but the trailer shows plenty of butt-kicking along with a villain who can catch Captain America’s shield in-flight. Apparently, at some point in the film, Captain America and Black Widow exchange a kiss too.

The movie is set to hit theaters on April 4, 2014. That is assuming it’s not delayed for one reason or another. It’s being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, whose primary experience is in directing TV series, including Arrested Development and Community. Hope they know what they’re doing with a big Marvel SFX blockbuster.

Also, am I the only one that finds Captain America a bit boring compared to the other Avengers?
