Hmmm, a patch that is released on the same day that the console itself rolls out to the masses? Not exactly the most auspicious of starts, don’t you think so? Well, what will this particular 1.5 patch bring with it? It is a pretty comprehensive list if you were to check it out, but here are some details that might just pique your interest.

You will be able to use Remote Play to play your PS4 games on your PlayStation Vita via Wi-Fi or through PS4 link. Apart from that, taking a page out of Dreamcast’s book, there is the second screen functionality that will make use of the PS4 Link or PlayStation App in order to transform your PS Vita, iPhone, iPad, or Android phones and tablets as a second screen for supported titles. Not only that, you can also stream gameplay via Ustream or Twitch, or choose to spectate using the PS4′s Live from PlayStation app.

Those are not an exhaustive list, but what’s important to take note is this – none of the PS4’s much vaunted features will work if you do not install the 1.50 patch, which pretty much makes it a compulsory installation for all new PS4 owners. Bummer! [Press Release]

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Firmware And Driver Pack Released

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 Firmware And Driver Pack ReleasedIt is nice to hear that Microsoft has just introduced a new firmware and driver pack for its Microsoft Surface Pro 2, especially when we also heard of news that the Surface Pro 2 is available not only in the US alone, but also in 20 other additional countries as recently as three days ago. Of course, in order to obtain this firmware and driver pack for the Windows 8.1 device, you will need to head on to the Microsoft Download site and sniff it out.

The file would weigh in at 158.1MB where it comes in a ZIP format, and it has been described to contain “drivers for all of the components in the Surface Pro 2 device, as well as updates to the system firmware that have been released via Windows Update.” If you were to translate that to plain English, it would mean that should something go awry with your Surface Pro 2 tablet during or after installation, you will be able to take advantage of the manual download so that you can restore the Surface Pro 2 back to when it was right after its launch.

Do bear in mind that Microsoft has also rolled out a separate file update already for Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, where these would definitely go some way in improving the overall reliability of Internet Explorer 11. [Download Page]

Wikipedia Pilots Articles Via SMS Service, Targets Africa

Wikipedia Pilots Articles Via SMS Service, Targets AfricaHave you ever wondered just how much homework in the world has cited Wikipedia as its source? It would be criminal to rely on Wikipedia for everything in terms of research, but hey, I am quite sure that it has not stopped anyone from doing so, either. Well, here we are with word that Wikipedia has started off piloting a service which will send articles via SMS, and this particular service will have users in Africa as its primary target “market”.

In order to make sure that this particular effort will bear fruit, Wikipedia has decided to work alongside mobile operator Airtel in order to offer the free initiative that is currently being tested out in Kenya. It is hoped that this particular service might be utilized to reach people who do not have internet access. This particular trial will be active for the next quarter, claims Dan Foy, technical partner manager for the Wikimedia Foundation. Dan wrote, “Throughout most of the developing world, data-enabled smartphones are the exception, not the rule. That means billions of people currently cannot see Wikipedia on their phones.” This service is known as Wikipedia Zero, and users will need to first dial *515#, from where which they will receive a text message that prompts them to search for articles.

A $50 Padded Muscle Shirt Beats Exercise

Eating right? Exercising? Forget that. Just get yourself a cool muscle shirt from Funkybod. These fake muscle tops are for wearing under another shirt so that you can look ripped and awesome without any health food or exercise. That’s a big win. You need something to hide those moobs and this is it.

    funkybod shirts 620x479magnify

    According to its makers:

The Funkybod undershirt is designed to enhance your natural physique. Because of the way it is designed, there is a marked improvement in the look if the wearer has the typical visual manboob issues when wearing a shirt. This was not the intended market for the Funkybod muscle top. Initially, it was designed to enhance the upper body muscle groups of skinny to medium build men. After initial trials we found that some of the smaller men had manboob issues which were covered well with the Funkybod muscle top. This led us to experiment with larger men and look into the manboob issue further.

Features of the Funkybod muscle top:

    • Chest plates giving a pumped look
    • Shoulder plates to give a broader look
    • Bicep plates giving bigger biceps
    • Tricep plates giving bigger triceps
    • Feels realistic to the touch

Turn those man boobs into muscle the way nature intended – with a shirt! I doubt that it feels as realistic as they say. The important thing is that it makes me look good to the ladies. Until I take my shirt off anyway. Oh well.

Layer one of these on top to complete the illusion.

Samsung 64-Bit Exynos SoC Most Likely To Hit Galaxy S5

Samsung 64 Bit Exynos SoC Most Likely To Hit Galaxy S5The folks over at Samsung has just confirmed that they have a 64-bit Exynos chipset in the works, and it is being prepared for a full fledged debut in due time. Citing a number of “technical preparations”, this new chipset should arrive sometime this quarter – which would also mean that there is a pretty good chance of seeing it in action in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship that will be announced next year. This particular 64-bit Exynos chipset will enable additional memory to be addressed, in addition to faster DDR4 units to see action which Samsung so happens to be preparing for 2014, too.

What have we heard about the Samsung Galaxy S5 so far? Well, for starters, it has been rumored to arrive with an eye sensor (take that, TouchID!) alongside the possibility of a 16-megapixel camera that could very well be a Sony component. Well, to have it arrive with a 64-bit Exynos processor might just be the icing on the cake.

Will we be able to see the Galaxy S5 appear in January next year, or perhaps in time for a late February launch? Only time will tell, but increased pressure from the competition might just see it arrive sooner rather than later.
