Making ‘the best driver’s car in the world’: A closer look at McLaren’s P1 hypercar

McLaren’s base of operations for both car development and production lies a few minutes outside of Woking, an unassuming mid-sized town in the middle of the UK. The low-rise, stylish facilities appear from nowhere, and as I sit inside a company car, waiting to get waved through one of many security …

Cute Cthulhu Scuplture = Cuteulhu?

If you hang around these parts much you know that there are a few topics we are particularly enamored with. We like our LEGOs, cosplay, video game stuff, and Cthulhu. I’d go so far as to say Cthulhu is probably one of the most covered topics here. Typically, the beast is seen in scary form, but on occasion it’s rather cutesy.

In fact, the last time we talked about a cute Cthulhu it was a massive plush toy. We also had our brains melted by a LEGO Cthulhu combining two of our favorite topics into one. Now, artist Cassia Harries has a sculpted what may be the cutest Cthulhu yet.

In this creation, Cthulhu looks like a little potbellied baby. The sculpture was made by hand and was cast from resin and then hand-painted giving it the look of the garden gnome. The sculpture is about three inches-tall and the artist plans to sell these little sculptures soon. I don’t know how much it cost, but I could definitely see this standing guard in my garden. If I had a garden.

Comcast’s ‘Internet Plus’ Bundle Offers Internet, HBO For $40 Per Month

Comcasts Internet Plus Bundle Offers Internet, HBO For $40 Per Month

Cable subscribers have been dealing with bundles for as long as most people can remember. Cable companies throw in a ton of channels inside of these bundles, only to charge a premium for the channels you actually want, like HBO and other channels they deem to be “premium.” Up to now, cable subscribers just had to put up with these bundles, but Comcast may have made cable cutting even more appealing with their latest “Internet Plus” bundle. Here Comes The FUD: UK Police Claim To Find 3D-Printed Gun Parts In Raid On Home

    n14dKX4

It begins. The Greater Manchester Police in the UK raided the home of a criminal suspect where they found a 3D printer and 3D printed parts. With great pride and fanfare the police reported:

During the searches, officers found a 3D printer and what is suspected to be a 3D plastic magazine and trigger which could be fitted together to make a viable 3D gun.

Sadly, they were quite wrong. The items in question, a little piece that looks like a trigger (shown here) and something that looks like a magazine, are actually a poorly-printed Replicator 2 drive block and a filament spool holder – essentially two parts you’d build if you were building another 3D printer. The criminal masterminds also printed it out of PLA plastic, which is not ideal for heavy-duty use, let alone firing a projectile. The printer, pictured above, is a Makerbot 2 which, in fact, only prints PLA. The jeers, needless to say, have been flying. https://twitter.com/Codepope/status/393661206000840704 https://twitter.com/foxsoup/status/393724792194760704 https://twitter.com/thefalken/status/393725471881326592 This sort of fear, uncertainty, and doubt will soon be flowing fast and heavy from “authorities” all over the world. What Cody Wilson at Defense Distributed has done by creating a media spectacle around his nearly useless 3D gun is set back the 3D printing industry considerably in the eyes of the uninitiated. While his gun works and can be fired, it requires far better materials and a higher-resolution printer to prevent death or maiming of the person behind the trigger. This “gun,” on the other hand, is simply plastic scrap. via Buzzfeed

Microsoft’s New Xbox One Commercial Invites You To Play With It

Microsoft released the first official commercial for the Xbox One last month at the start of this year’s football season. The commercial was a bit surprising as Microsoft showed a number of features of the Xbox One, although playing video games on the console wasn’t one of them. A brand-new commercial for the Xbox One has just hit the Internet, and it finally highlights it’s ability to play video games. (more…)

Carphone Warehouse discounts budget tablet to £49, which is probably all it’s worth

Brits in the market for a cheap 7-inch tablet have been spoiled of late, what with the launch of Tesco’s 119 Hudl and Argos’ 100 MyTablet. “But, hang on,” Carphone Warehouse’s thought, “we sell a budget tablet, too.” And so, seeking some attention itself, the UK retailer has discounted its Avoca …

Food Stamp Decrease Set For November :(

WASHINGTON — Next month food stamp benefits will automatically shrink for all 47 million Americans enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Pamela Gwynn of Crawfordsville, Ind., heard about the cut in a letter from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration. The letter explained that a federal law called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly known as the “stimulus package,” had given food stamp recipients a temporary boost in 2009.
