Blizzard’s Heroes Of The Storm Name Already Trademarked In EU

Blizzards Heroes Of The Storm Name Already Trademarked In EUThe other day we reported that Blizzard had decided to give their upcoming MOBA, Blizzard All-Stars, a name change to Heroes of the Storm. We’re not sure if that was necessarily a catchier title, as far as legal contention goes, it looks like Blizzard All-Stars would have been a safer choice. It seems that over in Finland and in the EU trademark office, there already exists a game called, Myrskyn Sankarit, which when translated to English pretty much stands for “Heroes of the Storm” as well. Given that the game was published in July 2013, with the Indiegogo campaign having been launched in 2012, safe to say that its creator definitely beat Blizzard to the punch.

According to the game’s creator, Mike Pohjola, he expressed his concern about both games existing peacefully. Pohjola’s creation is a pen-and-paper game and while both games are definitely of different genres, the similarity in title could confuse gamers who might think that Pohjola’s creation is a spin-off of Blizzard’s game and vice versa. We’re not sure what Blizzard plans to do about this and it would be hard for them to contest that they were there first, especially since the title of the game was only recently changed, although Blizzard could also argue that Pohjola’s trademark registration was made after the leak of the Heroes of the Storm filing. Either way we guess we will just have to wait and see how this one plays out.

Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls Mystic Artisan Detailed

Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls Mystic Artisan DetailedWe’re sure many Diablo 3 gamers are looking forward to the game’s expansion, Reaper of Souls, which some believe will most likely see a 2014 release. The expansion will introduce new acts, additional levels, new monsters, items, and of course a new artisan in the form of the Mystic. While the Mystic was revealed during the expansion’s announcement, it was only until recently that Blizzard revealed more about the upcoming artisan in a rather lengthy blog post. According to Blizzard, players will be able to rescue the Mystic in the city of Westmarch after which she will be able to enchant and transmorgrify your items, both of which at a small cost, of course.

For those unfamiliar, the Enchanting feature will allow players to reroll a property on an item. According to the description, “With Enchanting, you will be able to reroll one property on a Rare or Legendary item simply by speaking to Myriam, opening up her Enchant menu, and then paying a material cost. It’s that easy!” Transmorgrification on the other hand has merely to do with aesthetics where players can “change and customize the appearance of your hero’s items without having to sacrifice any of their power!” More details can be found on Blizzard’s Diablo 3 blog, but in the meantime what do you guys think of the new artisan and her abilities?

Nexus 5 Rumored For 31st October Release

Nexus 5 Rumored For 31st October ReleaseWhile we have seen many leaks of the upcoming Google Nexus 5 device, a launch date is still up in the air, with some believing that an October launch will happen, while others think that November launch is more likely. In any case according to the folks at Mobile Syrup, they claim that according to their tipsters, they believe that the Google Nexus 5 handset will see a launch on the 31st of October and will be available for purchase via Google Play. For our friends and readers in Canada, the Nexus 5 is rumored to make its way to Canadian carriers about a week later and you guys can expect to get your hands on the device on the 7th or 8th of November. Of course since neither Google or LG has announced anything yet, take it with a grain of salt for now.

It is widely believed that Google will launch Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5 side-by-side, and last we heard, KitKat was rumored for a 28th October release which does not tie in with the recent rumor, but like we said, take it with a grain of salt for now. Given the Nexus 5’s rumored 5” Full HD display and quad-core chipset, it is not surprising that many are looking forward to the handset and with October coming to an end, we guess we won’t have to wait much longer to see if the rumors pan out.

LG G Flex Specs Revealed In Benchmarks

LG G Flex Specs Revealed In BenchmarksThe other day thanks to a leaked photo we managed to catch a glimpse of the LG G Flex, the South Korean company’s attempt at a smartphone with a flexible display. However the exact specifications of the handset remain a mystery, at least until AnTuTu benchmarks were sighted, giving us a look at what we might be able to expect under the hood of the LG G Flex. Similar to how the Samsung Galaxy Round is based on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the LG G Flex is expected to be based on the LG G2 which means that while the curved display might seem like a novel feature, its hardware under the hood is no laughing matter.

For starters the AnTuTu benchmark results have revealed that the LG G Flex will feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset and will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM. It will also feature a 6” display and will sport a rather low display resolution of 1280×720, giving it a pixel density of 244PPI. We’re not sure if it’s because flexible displays aren’t up to Full HD resolutions yet, but either way it does seem a little disappointing, but then again these aren’t the official specifications so who knows, LG might still surprise us. In any case there’s still no word on when LG will announce the device, but hopefully it will be soon. In the meantime who else is looking forward to getting their hands on the device?

Twitter For Windows Phone Consuming Way More Data Than Usual

Twitter For Windows Phone Consuming Way More Data Than UsualHeads up Windows Phone users, if you’re using Twitter heavily on your Windows Phone device, you might want to delete the app or turn it off ASAP because according to reports, it seems that Twitter for Windows Phone is eating up way more data than expected. This is not a bug or a flaw on Microsoft’s part, but rather a change to Twitter’s backend which basically causes the app to frequently re-download profile images. In fact during tests performed to see just how much data is actually consumed, it was found that it was possible for users to hit up to 3GB of data in a week which may very well exceed the data caps of most users.

In order to fix this problem, or at least do their part to prevent Windows Phone users from going over their data cap, Microsoft has made a change to Twitter accounts where they will sync only once a day. This is hardly a permanent solution and we’re guessing that this will be up to Twitter to fix it on their side of things which Microsoft thinks should take a couple of weeks. In the meantime like we said, if you use Twitter on your Windows Phone device, you will either have to remove the app, unlike your Twitter account from your device, unless you are on an unlimited data plan which we guess won’t really matter. For those who aren’t, the steps mentioned above are advisable especially if you’re not a fan of bill shock!

Texting In Sweden Can Help Those Suffering From Cardiac Arrest

Texting In Sweden Can Help Those Suffering From Cardiac ArrestAccording to the numbers, for every minute it takes for first responders to reach a person suffering from cardiac arrest, their odds of survival drop by 10% and this is one of the reasons why Sweden has come up with an interesting and potentially life-saving method of helping those with cardiac arrest as quickly as possible. This is done through the help of volunteers and text messages. For instance when someone dials 112 (Sweden’s emergency number), it not only calls emergency services but it also sends a text messages to volunteers who are situated within 500 meters of the person who sent the text message, allowing them to arrive and perform CPR if necessary.

The program is dubbed SMSLifesaver and will rely on volunteers trained in CPR to respond to nearby emergencies. Granted sometimes volunteers might not be able to help given the severity of the case, but we guess having someone nearby would definitely help, whether it be providing medical assistance or at the very least providing some form of comfort to someone unwell. The program was thought up after it was found that ambulances take too long to arrive due to heavy traffic in Stockholm, as well as ambulances being used for other patients who are being transferred in between hospitals or en route to the emergency room. Pretty awesome idea, huh?
