New Motorola “Windy Day” Video Teases AR Game

Motorola has rolled out a brand new video that has been called “Windy Day”, and for good reason, too. This particular video will tease us curious viewers about a brand new augmented reality game which will be arriving on the Moto X smartphone later at the end of this month – on October 29th, to be exact. It must be noted, however, that the entire video lasts for slightly more than a minute, but in there, the real “meat” of the content happens to last for approximately that of a Vine clip.

The first minute or so of the video happens to be literally folks from all walks of life holding on to Moto X phones, where they then turned around in circles or looked through the phone’s display, with smiles on their faces. Assuming your attention span managed to hold out until the end of the video, the last few seconds seem to depict a cartoon more than an augmented reality. The reason behind that could be because the game was developed with the assistance of a certain Jan Pinkava, the person who wrote and directed the Pixar short Geri’s Game, in addition to co-directing Ratatouille. What do you think of the video?

Sony Xperia Z1 Gets Update, Rear Camera Sees Improvement

Sony Xperia Z1 Gets Update, Rear Camera Sees ImprovementThe Sony Xperia Z1 is no pushover as a smartphone, especially when you consider its flagship credentials. Having said that, this waterproof smartphone has just received an update that has been said to deliver an improvement to its rear camera, not that the back camera in the past was a slouch or anything like it. Apparently, this new firmware update has introduced an algorithm that will enhance the performance of the camera, where it the same improvements have been sent over to the likes of Burst Mode, Superior Auto, AR Effect and Sweep Panorama.

This particular update started to roll out globally already, and the image above hails from a Dutch Sony Xperia Z1 owner, where it depicted the difference between the quality of photographs taken before and of course, right after the update. Needless to say, the update lets the camera capture an even greater amount of detail, even when there are shadows around. Not only that, it does seem that there has been improvements made to the color reproduction and contrast areas, too.

Well, all I can say is, there has been no adverse reports after installing this particular update, so if you’re a proud Xperia Z1 owner, it would do you good to have the update installed, too.

There are always pros and cons to each situation, and we know for sure that die hard fans on each side are not willing to give up an inch even until today, although we have also seen a far more inclusive gaming community over the years, where folks own multiple consoles as well as get some gaming time on their desktops, too. Vacuum Tesla Coils Could Clear Up Smoggy Skies

Vacuum Tesla Coils Could Clear Up Smoggy SkiesSmog – the bane of (over)crowded cities, is a problem that should be addressed by any nation afflicted with it. There are always downsides to it, including rising medical costs that might also put additional burden on the government machinery in the long run. In China alone, smog is a fast growing problem that is not going to go away anytime soon. In fact, if our memories serve us just fine, the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics saw most industry in the city shut down so that the smog levels will remain in check. Is there hope for cities down the road? A Dutch designer answers in the affirmative, claiming that he has already come up with a system which is able to pluck smog particles out of the air – literally.

Daan Roosgaarde claims that Tesla coils which are buried just under the surface of the earth might be used to create an electrostatic field. This electrostatic field would then attract smog particles, in a somewhat similar manner as that of an electronic vacuum cleaner. Having worked alongside scientists at the University of Delft in The Netherlands, Roosegaarde claims that early experiments were successful, as they managed to clear a one cubic meter area of smog in a five cubic meter room. In fact, Roosegaarde has already reached a deal with the mayor of Beijing so that it can install a system in a city park in order to showcase the technology, and from there, hopefully convince the masses that their city needs something like this. We wonder what are the energy requirements needed to make sure that enough of these are installed to clear an entire city of smog, and whether there are any more cost effective ways.
