Latest Skitch update for Mac brings new toolbar, Mavericks performance boosts
Posted in: Today's Chili It’s been about three weeks since Apple released the Mavericks gold master to developers, and we’re starting to see the first apps fine-tuned for Cupertino’s latest OS in the App Store. With kids these days getting access to tablets and smartphones at such an early age, companies are starting to turn towards creating apps and accessories for kids designed to be used together with said devices and if you’re a parent looking for something new for your kids to do, or if you’re simply a fan of Marvel comics, then perhaps the Marvel Creativity Studio Stylus might be worth checking out. The stylus along with its accompanying app for the iPad, will allow kids to draw and animate a variety of Marvel superheroes. The app will also provide users access to the superheroes drawn by some of Marvels’ artists, allowing them to add on to the design and color as well as unlock some cool features in the process.
The animation of the drawings will include speech bubbles and sound effects, both of which we imagine will be able to entertain your child (and your inner child) for hours on end. According to Josh Silverman, the executive VP of Disney’s global franchise licensing and commercialization, “The Marvel Creativity Studio is an innovative way for fans of all ages to learn how to draw some of Marvel’s most popular Super Heroes while allowing them to use their imagination to feel like they’re part of the action. Leveraging the comic drawing history of the Marvel brand with the innovation that eKids brings to the table – or in this case, tablet – this product delivers a fun experience with endless play value.” The Marvel Creativity Studio Stylus will be priced at $35.

We know that Nintendo has a couple of games that they are remaking in HD, such as The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and while we expect Nintendo to announce more HD remakes in the future, this is not the company’s main focus. Speaking to a panel of reports, Nintendo’s chief game designer, Shigeru Miyamoto, stated that Nintendo is more interested in creating new games for their Wii U console rather than simply remaking older titles in HD. When asked if there is a chance that Nintendo will remake older games, Miyamoto replied by saying, “That’s certainly possible, but most of our developers are working on new games […] We like to have them working on new stuff. HD remakes might be a good project for development partners, so that’s something I hope we can introduce in the future.”
As it stands the Nintendo Wii U isn’t exactly the hottest selling console at the moment, and with consoles like the upcoming Xbox One by Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 by Sony, if anything the competition just got stiffer. Given that Nintendo has many popular titles in their portfolio, some of which are old but classic, could remaking older games into HD be a better idea than making new ones? What do you guys think? Would you prefer to see more HD remakes from Nintendo or are you hoping for newer titles that could hit Mario-like status for this generation?

Now it has done the same for the newly revealed iPad Air, with the […]
