Space Gray iPad Mini Making Its Way To Apple Stores

Space Gray iPad Mini Making Its Way To Apple StoresPlanning on picking up an iPad mini for yourself, especially since the prices have dropped with the announcement of the iPad mini 2 with Retina display? Well if you are, you might be interested to learn that a new color version of the iPad mini has been released, and it is the Space Gray finish for those who are interested. The update model with the Space Gray finish has been available via Apple’s online store since Tuesday and will be replacing Apple’s Black and Slate versions of the tablet, presumably to add a bit of consistency across the board.

In any case according to a smattering of reports, the Space Gray tablet is not available across all of Apple’s retail stores yet, so if you were planning on picking it up physically, you might want to call ahead to see if your store has any in stock. The first-gen iPad mini has had its price lowered and for those who aren’t fussed by Retina displays, you can pick one up for yourself for $299 for the 16GB WiFi-only version, a slight discount from its original price of $329. So, anyone planning on picking up the original iPad mini, or is a Retina display tablet too good to pass up?

DualShock 4 Controllers Drop Analog Buttons Due To Lack Of Developer Interest

DualShock 4 Controllers Drop Analog Buttons Due To Lack Of Developer InterestSo we know that Sony has gone through more than 20 different prototypes for its DualShock 4 controller for their upcoming PlayStation 4 console. Well for those who are interested in learning more about the console and some of the changes that Sony made under the hood, an interview (continued from last time) with Sony’s Toshimasa Aoiki held with VentureBeat revealed that the DualShock 4 controllers also did away with analog buttons, claiming that a lack of interest from developers led to their decision to do away with the feature. Instead the DualShock 4 controllers will not feature digital buttons and will only register on and off states, versus analog buttons which allow for varying degrees of states.

For example in Gran Turismo 5, the game allowed gamers to slowly accelerate by pressing the shoulder buttons on the DualShock 3 controllers slowly, but if you were to attempt something similar with the DualShock 4 controllers, you’d be out of luck. According to Aoki, “With the DualShock 3, we were able to get analog data, which games didn’t really use […] For DualShock 4, we deleted that, and now it’s all digital. The mechanism inside is a little different, and the data that games get is different.” What do you guys think? Is this a feature you wish more developers had gotten on board with?

Moto G Could Be The Official Name Of the Motorola DVX

Moto G Could Be The Official Name Of the Motorola DVXThe other day Motorola trademarked the name “Moto G”, leaving us to wonder if perhaps the name could be referring to a new handset. Well wonder no more because according to the rumors, it seems that the Moto G name is actually the official name of the Motorola DVX, which for those unfamiliar has been tipped off to be the lower-end version of the Moto X handset which was released a couple of months ago, although given that the Moto X is hardly the most powerful handset we can only imagine how low-specced the Moto G will be. However given that the Moto G has been pegged for emerging markets, we guess price is more of a priority rather than hardware specs, so perhaps the handset could go on and sell pretty well.

According to the rumored specs, the Moto G will feature a 4.5” LCD display and will be powered by Motorola’s very own X8 Computer System. It will also sport dual SIM capabilities, a feature which seems to be rather common in phones targeted at emerging markets, and is also expected to see a rather affordable price tag of $200-$250 off-contract. The official specs have yet to be released so take it with a grain of salt for now, but with the Moto G purportedly scheduled for a launch by the end of the year, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out all the official details.

Comcast Plans to Offer the Closest Thing to an HBO Go Subscription

The entire Internet would very much appreciate it if HBO offered an HBO Go subscription without the need to have cable. We want to pay for HBO Go like we pay for Netflix. But that hasn’t happened… yet. But people are trying! Even cable companies.

Pirate Website Uploader Talk Turns Out To Be A Front For Gathering Data On Pirates

Pirate Website Uploader Talk Turns Out To Be A Front For Gathering Data On PiratesGiven that piracy of movies, games, software, and music have become the norm, sometimes we download illegal content without thinking too much of it. Granted there have been cases where people have been arrested and slapped with massive fines, but those are pretty rare giving us a sense of “safety”. Well the bad news is that if you’re the type that loves to pirate often and actually hang out in forums and chatrooms dedicated to the practice, you might want to think twice as the owner of UploaderTalk has revealed that his entire website was merely a front that was used to gather information about the people using it. Microsoft has announced its latest quarterly revenue numbers, with the quarter ending late last month showing an upswing in revenue in several areas, though Windows OEM revenue had dropped 7-percent. Select HTC Devices To Receive Free 25-50GB Google Drive Storage For 2 Years

Select HTC Devices To Receive Free 25 50GB Google Drive Storage For 2 YearsWhile HTC might not exactly be in the best place financially at the moment, it seems that they are still thinking about their Android customers and have announced that select HTC Android devices will be eligible for free 25GB-50GB Google Drive storage for the next two years, after which these users will have to pay to continue the subscription or be unable to add new files. For starters owners of the HTC One Max can look forward to 50GB of Google Drive storage, while select HTC Android smartphones from 2013 will be eligible for 25GB storage once HTC Sense 5+ becomes available, although it should be noted that the HTC One Developer Edition will be excluded from this promotion due to its unlocked bootloader (although we’re not sure why this should matter).

In any case for those wondering if your HTC device is eligible for the free storage, all you’d have to do is launch the preloaded Google Drive app on your HTC device. You should see a “Redeem” button and if you do, you have to press it and follow the on-screen instructions to redeem your free storage. This offer will be valid until January the 1st 2016, so don’t worry HTC users as you will have plenty of time to redeem it. The 2-year period will begin the moment you redeem the offer, so if you were to redeem it on the 1st of January 2016, it will be valid until 2018, and etc. More information on this offer can be found at Google’s website.
