Twitter IPO Price Range Reportedly Being Set Soon

Twitter IPO Price Range Reportedly Being Set Soon

Last month we reported that Twitter had filed a S-1 form with the SEC, revealing that it is planning to go public. Twitter’s IPO is one of the biggest tech related initial public offerings of this year. Rumors of the microblogging network going public escalated after Facebook conducted its IPO last year, raising $105 billion in the process. Though up till now, no one knows exactly what Twitter IPO price range is going to be. According to a new WSJ report, Twitter might decide on a price range for its offering in the next couple of days.

As per the report, Twitter may “price the deal” as early as November 6th. It seeks to raise $1 billion. The IPO date is not known as well, though it is believed that Twitter is seeking to go public by next month, presumably before Thanksgiving. Once the deal has been priced, Twitter can then start courting investors to put in their money in its shares. The company itself hasn’t dropped any hints about the price range or when we can expect its shares to be listed for trading in the open market. Twitter is the world’s second biggest social network with more than 200 million monthly active users, the money it ends up raising from the IPO will help it in expanding its operations.

If not a Nexus 5, what’s planned for the Google Play ‘night out’?

The team behind Google Play is playing with our heads.

    (Credit: Google)

Last week, Google sent out invitations for a “night out” event in New York on October 24 with folks from Google Play and music from Capital Cities. The instant speculation was that the event could be the long-awaited reveal of the Nexus 5 and Android KitKat, but almost as quickly as that gossip caught fire, it was quashed. Word spread that there would be no hardware introduced at the mysterious soiree.

    OK, so what gives?

Others have speculated that we could see a new streaming service that includes video from YouTube very soon. That could be true, but we’re pretty sure it won’t happen at this event in New York. It wouldn’t make much sense to do that at a Google Play-branded event, anyway.

JAXA Test Fires Space Cannon It Plans on Firing at Asteroid

The Japanese space agency known as JAXA has announced that it has conducted a test of its space cannon that will be used to remotely fire a 4-pound metal projectile into the surface of an asteroid. The space cannon will eventually be mounted inside the Hayabusa-2 space probe that’s scheduled to take off in 2014.

The space probe will eventually rendezvous with an asteroid called 1999JU3 that is in orbit between Earth and Mars. That rendezvous is expected to happen in 2018. Once the space probe gets close enough to the asteroid, the cannon will detach and remotely fire its projectile into the surface of the asteroid.

The goal is not to destroy the asteroid, but to create a small crater that the probe can land beside and then deploy a small Rover to gather samples. The samples will then be carried back to Earth and are expected to return in 2020. The Japanese space agency wants to create the small crater to expose new asteroid material that hasn’t been affected by space weather and heat.
