Sometimes companies do stupid things to market their products. A silly commercial here. A ridiculous junket there
If you are an avid golfer, then I am quite sure that you would go great lengths to ensure that you will be able to improve your game. Watching videos, reading books and magazines, and even hitting the green more often than your golfing buddies will all go some way in assisting you to better yourself. Well, when it is pouring cats and dogs outside and you are itching to practice your golf, here is the $229.95 Eagle Putt Trainer that might come in handy.
The Eagle Putt Trainer happens to be an indoor putting trainer which will be able to help hone distance control on putts up to 45′ long. As a golfer, you will putt balls along the 5′-long practice green to an electronic bumper. This electronic bumper has the ability to measure force, calculate the true distance of each putt, as well as display the distance on its LED screen. Thanks to the integrated digital stimpmeter, it will adjust the putt distance readings to simulate slow (8.2), medium (9.8), or fast (11.5) greens, depending on your earlier selection. The ball itself will be automatically returned to the golfer, so that you will only spend the necessary time required to compose yourself and visualize making that prize winning putt.

We’ve seen North Korea perform some interesting tactics in a way to disrupt the going ons online. Just a few years ago, they were jamming GPS signals within a 100km range and earlier this year, the country had prevented tourists from getting a 3G connection while they were in North Korea. That was only the tip of the ice berg as South Korean police are warning downloadable games might contain malware created by North Korean in what they believe could be a part of a cyber attack. This might shock you, but for over a century scientists have been pondering why kettles whistle—and completely failed to find an answer. That’s all changed now, though, thanks to two scientists from the University of Cambridge who have worked out how it happens.
The Planck telescope is a deep space scientific instrument that has been in use for four a half years. During the telescope’s mission, it was able to determine that the universe is about 80 million years older than scientists previously thought. The telescope also made some other interesting discoveries such as spotting an 80,000,000°C gas […]
AMBER robot walks on human-like feet but isn’t quite ready for British Knights
Posted in: Today's Chili Until recently, bipedal robots have sometimes had to take interesting approaches to imitate human walking because they lack our first points of contact with the road: heels and toes. The latest breakthrough from Texas A&M’s Amber Lab robotics team may have fixed that, though. An approximation of …
Remember how boring and unbearable driver’s ed was in high school? It turns out that learning to drive in other countries isn’t so bad. In Sierra Leone, on Africa’s west coast, wannabe motorists have to commit to playing a custom board game for several months that makes learning the rules of the road far less tedious.
Dell Precision M3800 touted to be thinnest, lightest 15” mobile workstation in the world
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen it comes to notebooks, there is this particular tension that computer manufacturers will have to work with – that is, to cram in a whole lot of power, or to make it as light as possible? It is a careful balancing act between the two, and Dell might have hit a winning formula with its latest Dell Precision M3800, which has been touted to be the thinnest as well as lightest 15” mobile workstation in the world. Said to merge both beautiful design in an ultra-thin form factor alongside delivering workstation-class performance, the Dell Precision M3800 is truly an uncompromising system for digital content creators as well as engineers who are on the lookout for portability, power and stylish design in order to match their image and environment.
Just how thin is the Dell Precision M3800? For starters, it will measure less than 0.75” thin (that would be the equivalent of 18mm), and will tip the scales at 4.15 pounds. Not only that, since it packs quite a punch, it obviously would need a cooling system that will match its performance, which is why there is dual-cooling. As for its battery, it is said to deliver up to 10 hours of battery life with NVIDIA Optimus technology for extended productivity, allowing users of the M3800 to edit video at a shoot, presenting CAD ideas to customers in style or rendering 3D animation and modeling on the road.
As for the operating system of choice, you can pick between Windows 8.1 Pro (64-Bit) or Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit), where it has also been loaded with up to 16GB of RAM, powered by a 4th-generation Intel Core i7-4702HQ 8 threaded quad-core processor with up to 3.2 GHz clock speeds. Graphics-wise, you get an NVIDIA Quadro K1100M GPU with 2GB of GDDR5 dedicated memory, and where storage is concerned, you would be spoiled for choice. The Dell Precision M3800 comes with the ability to hold up to two storage devices, with a maximum of 1.5TB of storage (HDD, SSHD, or SSD).
If you are interested in picking the Dell Precision M3800 up, it will be available worldwide this coming November 14 with a starting price of $1,799.

What would you do if you saw a vending machine offering free treats? You’d most likely jump at the chance to grab a couple of them before the machine runs out.
So there you are, thinking that it’s your lucky day, as you reach into the machine to get your treat…
…but instead, begin screaming your head off when a dead-looking hand grabs yours.
I hate to break it to you, but you’ve just been had. This was probably the ghastly experience that people who chanced upon the Scares vending machine in Dublin, Ireland had. The entire set-up involved having comedian comedian Marcus Olaoire hide inside the machine and wait for unwitting victims to reach for a treat.
The entire thing was part of a Halloween publicity stunt for a snack company. Too bad they didn’t post a video of people’s reactions.
