HP Reportedly Looking To Sell Off Some Mobile Patents

HP Reportedly Looking To Sell Off Some Mobile PatentsHP, a company known for their computers and printing solutions, have attempted to enter the mobile space in the past through smartphones and tablets, although safe to say that their efforts did not pay off. In a bid to bolster the company’s financial position, HP’s CEO, Meg Whitman, has been reported to be looking for buyers of some of its mobile-related patents. As it stands these negotiations are reportedly private which is why HP is unable to comment or confirm the reports. According to anonymous sources, the patents in question are related to WebOS which HP had bought from Palm several years ago.

It’s interesting given that WebOS was sold to LG not too long ago, but perhaps there are still some patents left that LG did not acquire. In an effort to make the patents more attractive to potential buyers, HP has also reportedly removed certain restrictive conditions that will hopefully amp up its appeal. We’re not sure if this means that HP plans to exit the mobile market since we’re guessing that they will require these patents, or at least some of it, to proceed, but according to a HP spokesman, “We don’t comment on rumor and speculation.”

Samsung Apologizes To Chinese Customers For Galaxy S3 And Note 2 Problems

Samsung Apologizes To Chinese Customers For Galaxy S3 And Note 2 ProblemsWe’re not sure why,but it seems that China in particular seems to have been affected badly when it comes to malfunctioning smartphones and the services when it comes to dealing with them. For example Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has in the past apologised to Chinese consumers for the way they dealt with repair and warranty enquiries for their iPhone, and now it looks like Samsung will be issuing their own apology as well. In a statement released on their website, Samsung was quoted as saying, “We welcome the scrutiny by the media. As a result of management problems, we have brought inconveniences to consumers, and we offer our sincere apologies.”

The phones in question are the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, both of which have apparently been rather problematic for customers in China, with reports that both devices crash up to 30 times a day! Crashing once or twice on a daily basis is already unacceptable so we can only imagine the frustration that these users are having when it crashes 30 times. In any case the South Korea tech giant has announced that they will be offering affected customers repair for either device free of charge, and will refund those who have already paid for repairs, and worst case scenario, will offer a full replacement for devices that are still having issues after multiple repairs.

Interestingly enough this is even cheaper than Polaroid had originally announced and ultimately you would have saved yourself $100 in total.

So what can you expect for your money? Well for starters you can look forward to a 10-30mm kit lens that will come bundled with the camera. The camera itself will feature a 18.1MP sensor and a 3.5” touchscreen display, which you can use to interact with its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean user interface. Thanks to its operating system of choice, it is possible that you can look forward to more features and flexibility compared to other cameras that use their own operating system. The iM1836 will come with both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and Full HD 1080p video capture, with Polaroid boasting “DSLR quality” for its photos. If this sounds like a good deal for you, you can hit up Amazon where the camera has been listed as shipping within 2-5 weeks.

‘Duck Dynasty’ Halloween Finale: Uncle Si Terrifies Children As A Giant Mutant Beaver (VIDEO)

Halloween came to the “Duck Dynasty” season finale and that meant wacky costumes. And who’s better at being wacky than Uncle Si? When Willie’s wife Kori decided to turn the Duck Commander warehouse into a “scarehouse” for the neighborhood children, Si had a crazy idea for a costume.

He came up with a giant mutant beaver that eats children. Hollywood Life’s Andy Swift said leave it to the eccentric uncle to turn the lovable furry creature into perhaps the haunted house’s scariest attraction. And perhaps even the stuff of nightmares for the local children. “Si proves that beavers aren’t always cute,” Swift wrote. “In fact, they can be pretty dam terrifying!

Meanwhile, as PennLive’s Marcus Schneck pointed out, Willie was frustrated throughout the episode because he couldn’t scare anybody. But all he had to do was listen to Si. “It ain’t about the costume. It’s about the attitude,” Uncle Si said. And he made a beaver absolutely terrifying.

Adobe To Sandbox Flash Player For Safari Users

Adobe To Sandbox Flash Player For Safari UsersWhen Apple released OS X Mavericks to the public, not only did they introduce a new look and a host of new features to consumers, but they have also introduced added security to Mac computers as well with one of them through the use of the App Sandbox feature. Now it seems that after years of taking abuse and having to fight off malware and exploits through Adobe Flash Player, Adobe has announced that they will be taking advantage of App Sandbox which should help restrict malicious code from running outside of OS X Maverick’s native browser, Safari.

Thanks to the App Sandbox feature, it will allow Adobe to limit the plugin’s capabilities to read and write files, along with defining what sort of assets their Flash Player will be able to access. In a statement made by Adobe platform security specialist, Peleus Uhley, “Safari users on OS X Mavericks can view Flash Player content while benefiting from these added security protections […] We’d like to thank the Apple security team for working with us to deliver this solution.” This is not the first time that Adobe has attempted sandboxing as they have done so with other browsers in the past, such as with Google Chrome, Mozilla’s FireFox, and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, but we guess Safari has since been added to that list.
