This train is based on the classic narrow-gauge 2-6-0 Baldwin Mogul from the late 19th century and is powered by four 250-watt, 24-volt DC motors. That will give you enough power to generate enough power to haul up to 1,600 lbs. at a 3% grade.

As for the actual railroad, you get 228′ of 7 1/2″-gauge track, enough to create a 60′ x 80′ oval. It even has an integrated 50-watt sound system for realistic train sounds. All aboard!

Shredder Scissors are perfect for those who love busy-work

Scissor Shredder
There are times at work where you wish you had something to do. You can only organize your desk or go to the bathroom so many times, and if you work ahead, you’ll only be facing the same problem in a day or two. Sometimes you just want some meaningless, arduous task to keep you occupied until more work crops up. Just so it’s stated, checking Facebook does not count.

Shredding documents seems to be a normal thing to do around an office space. However, with all those new-fangled machines, the job is done in the blink of an eye. This only means that you’ll have to trudge back to your desk sooner with no hopes of an escape. If you really want to stretch out this process, get a pair of Shredding Scissors.

This is extremely cheap at around $8, and will shred paper the same way its electric counterpart would. The major difference being that you have to operate the pair of scissors, which will likely give you cramps in your arm. It’s made of metal, but that’s not going to stop this from getting jammed up, or having the blades bend. Honestly, this is a terrible idea, but would definitely eat up a lot of your free time at work. Mainly because those little uneven shreds you create will get everywhere, and you’ll spend weeks, if not months trying to find them all.

Become an official witness to the next tar-pitch drop

Any minute now, the tar could drop.

There are a couple of competing tar-pitch drop experiments going on in the world. The oldest is taking place at the University of Queensland in Australia. It has given us eight drops of pitch over its 86-year history. The ninth drop could happen at any time.

In honor of the impending occasion, the university has launched The Ninth Watch, a site where anyone can sign up to view a live feed of the experiment and have their names on the official list of witnesses if they happen to be online and watching when the drop finally falls.

The University of Queensland is aiming to stop a long losing streak. Though the pitch drops have been counted, there have been no actual witnesses to those drops over the years. That’s about to change, assuming there is at least one viewer logged on when the pitch takes a tumble.

The pitch-drop experiment has lasted for so long because of the extremely slow nature of the pitch’s movement. It looks like a solid, but acts like a liquid over an extended time period. The live feed would be hard to distinguish from a still photograph if it weren’t for an analog clock tracking the time, but there is still a sense of anticipation every time you log in.
