Amazon France And Germany Hints At New Apple TVs

Amazon France And Germany Hints At New Apple TVsBack in September when Apple unveiled the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, many had expected Apple to take advantage of the event to announce a new Apple TV device as well. Unfortunately that was not the case, but perhaps the new Apple TVs could be announced at Apple’s 22nd of October event where it is expected that the iPad 5, iPad mini 2, and refreshed MacBook Pros could be announced as well. In any case this seems speculation seems to be corroborated by Amazon’s French and German websites where they list the current-gen Apple TV as being unavailable, and that availability is expected to begin from the 23rd of October, a day after Apple’s event which is when we expect Apple to make some of their products available for purchase.

Of course it is entirely possible that Amazon is currently out of stock of the Apple TV and are waiting for new shipments to arrive before sales are resumed, so it is possible that there might not be any new Apple TVs announced on the 22nd of October. Amazon’s French website also lists the Apple TV model as “MD199FD/A” which is the current model of the device, as opposed to an unknown model that could hint at an upcoming refresh. Either way we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more info, so if a new Apple TV is something you’re looking forward to, check back with us on the 22nd of October for the details.

Official Nexus 5 Press Render Pulled From Google’s Server

Official Nexus 5 Press Render Pulled From Googles ServerThanks to a leak earlier today, the Nexus 5’s press rendering made an appearance sporting Telus’ carrier branding. Shortly after the Nexus 5 listing was spotted on Google Play’s store and now thanks to the folks at Android Police, they have managed to pull the official press rendering from Google’s image server directly, which you can view it at this link assuming Google does not remove it. Given that this image was pulled directly from Google, this is pretty much as official as it gets and based on what we can see, the Nexus 5 will sport a new camera icon, a phone icon, and a new Gmail icon as well.

Still no word on when Google will announce the Nexus 5, but presumably it will be sometime later this month as the previous Nexus 4 was announced around this time of the year as well. The rumors are claiming the device will feature a 5” Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core chipset, an 8MP camera, and will run on Android 4.4 KitKat. It is also expected to be priced starting at $350 for the 16GB version which is according to the Google Play store listing that was sighted earlier.

PS3 Dethrones Xbox 360 As Top Selling Console For September

PS3 Dethrones Xbox 360 As Top Selling Console For SeptemberFor quite a while now Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has been holding the number one position in the US in terms of sales, but it looks like after a 32-month long streak, Sony has finally broken Microsoft’s streak and now claims the best-selling console in the US for the month of September. This is according to the latest figures released by NPD. According to NPD analyst (via Gamesindustry.biz), Liam Callahan, one of the reasons why Sony managed to break Microsoft’s stranglehold was due in part to Rockstar’s recently released Grand Theft Auto 5’s PlayStation 3 bundle. Granted that the game was released on both consoles, we guess the bundle made the purchase a little more attractive for gamers who wanted to play the game but did not own a console.

Presumably some of these gamers are PC gamers who were hoping for the game to see a release on the PC, but as it stands Rockstar has no plans to release the game for the PC platform. In any case what do you guys think? Will Sony be able to hold onto the crown for long? Or will the Xbox 360 reclaim their former spot next month? With the PS4 and Xbox One coming it, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top then!

Amazon gently hints this might not be the best time to buy an Apple TV (update)

When we were kids, our mom told us never to take Amazon listings as evidence for anything. That retailer, she’d say, is so big and complex that its stock decisions can’t be used to learn about new products. Still, the fact that Amazon’s French and German outlets have marked the Apple TV as out of …
