Carlos Ortiz, Aaron Hernandez Associate, To Face Accessory To Murder Charge
Posted in: Today's ChiliFALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — An associate of Aaron Hernandez will be arraigned in Massachusetts on an accessory to murder charge related to the case against the former New England Patriot.
Carlos Ortiz (or-TEES’) is being arraigned Friday in superior court following his indictment on a charge of accessory to murder after the fact in the killing of Odin Lloyd. Ortiz’s attorney has said his client will plead not guilty.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in Lloyd’s death. Prosecutors say Ortiz and “right-hand man” Ernest Wallace were with Hernandez when Lloyd was shot to death at an industrial park in June.

Posted in: Today's ChiliDETROIT — DETROIT (AP) — Mike Napoli’s majestic homer began a rare early Boston breakthrough, Junichi Tazawa again bested Miguel Cabrera in a crucial spot and the Red Sox moved within one win of reaching the World Series by edging the Detroit Tigers 4-3 on Thursday night.
Boston returns to Fenway Park with a 3-2 lead in the AL championship series. Game 6 is Saturday with the Tigers’ Max Scherzer facing the Red Sox’s Clay Buchholz.

In a narrower political sense, this was one of those (relatively) rare Washington battles in which one side clearly prevailed. It was the Democrats. When this episode started, they said they were determined not to make major concessions simply because Republicans were threatening shutdown and default. Sure enough, here we are — with a new continuing resolution, a higher debt limit, and no major changes in law. Democrats achieved the policy outcome they had sought, while establishing a precedent for the future: No more negotiating while under such threats.
