Samsung Galaxy S5 To Feature Eye Sensor (Rumor)

Samsung Galaxy S5 To Feature Eye Sensor (Rumor)When it comes to rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S5, you can bet your bottom dollar that a fair amount has been reported already. For instance, we did hear whispers of a possible January 2014 release of the Samsung Galaxy S5, not to mention that it might even arrive with an Exynos 6 14nm 64-bit processor, in addition to having the possibility of a rugged version of the Galaxy S5 being in the pipeline. Phew! All of that is a lot to handle, and one also figures that in the world of high end smartphones, it is often a game of one upmanship with your rivals. So Apple has introduced Touch ID to their iPhone 5s which is basically a fingerprint sensor. How about Samsung? The latest rumor surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S5 would be the very real possibility of having it arrive with an eye scanning sensor.

This would mean you can unlock your smartphone device with your eyes, and Samsung is allegedly already hard at work on the high-security bit of technology, although it remains to be seen in detail just how this particular piece of technology is going to work. Should this rumor end up as true, it would mean that the Samsung Galaxy S5 would offer a significant jump in smartphone security compared to what we currently have on the market.

Apple iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Prices In France Raised

Apple iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c Prices In France RaisedIt seems that if you happen to reside in France and want to pick up either the iPhone 5s or the iPhone 5c, you will obviously need to be prepared to fork out more money to do so. Apparently, Apple has set the price of both new iPhone models higher than one would have expected on its French web site, although they are not charging you an arm and a leg for it – just a finger, maybe. For example, the 16GB iPhone 5s would cost you €10 ($13.66 USD) more, while the 32GB model will be another €12 ($16.40 USD) higher in pricing compared to what other folks are paying elsewhere in the world. As for the highest capacity 64GB model, it will cost €18 ($24.59 USD) more.

The so called “budget” iPhone 5c has not been spared from this particular price increase, too, as both 16GB and 32GB models of the Apple iPhone 5c would see its price points raised by €10 and €12, respectively. This price increase has nothing to do with the French folks being richer than anyone else in the world, but attributed to the foreign exchange market which reduced Apple’s profit margin. As usual, it is up to the consumer to pick up the slack of a company, and would this slight price increase turn you off?

MK Z1 Android TV “Box” Is Actually Cylindrical In Shape

MK Z1 Android TV “Box” Is Actually Cylindrical In ShapeI guess the term “set top box” might need some looking into, especially when you take into consideration the physical form factor that the MK Z1 Android TV box comes in. Most of the Android TV boxes that we have come to know about tend to arrive in a rather large USB flash drive kind of look, with the larger models featuring additional space to stash away more ports, but most of the time, they would not tickle the imagination nor excite the senses. With the MK Z1 however, this particular model has been shaped to look like a cylinder, making it large enough to feature a built-in Ethernet jack as well as a front-facing camera, now how about that? I am quite sure that certain quarters would claim that this is a ripoff, or to put it in a milder manner, an “inspired” version of Apple’s upcoming Mac Pro.

The MK Z1 would be powered by a Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor, where it is accompanied by 2GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, in addition to 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. Other than that, the ports which accompany the MK Z1 include an HDMI port, a microSD memory card slot, a micro USB port, a couple of full-sized USB ports, a headset jack and a 10/100 Ethernet jack, with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice.

Ostrich Pillow Light Lets You Nap On The Move

Ostrich Pillow Light Lets You Nap On The MoveWhen the Ostrich Pillow was first brought to our attention all those years ago, who would have thought that this particular conceptual idea would one day be realized and turned into an actual product thanks to the help of Kickstarter? Kickstarter also has a role to play this time around with the Ostrich Pillow Light, where it allows one to catch forty winks while you are traveling instead of dozing it out on your desk.

Many of us tend to commute by bus and train each day, and for busy business-folk, some of them even jet set around pretty often. Most of these hours tend to be wasted unless you have a good book to read, or if your portable device happens to have a fair amount of battery life so that you can indulge in your favorite game for hours on end. However, I believe that most of us would more than welcome a nice nap, which is where this Ostrich Pillow Light comes in handy, letting you catch some sleep. Filled with special silent silicon coated micro-beads, it enhances sound reduction without the bulk, and can be adjusted to cater to different head sizes.

The Ostrich Pillow Light has already picked up the required amount of money to be realized, so we look forward to real world applications of it when we travel the next time. [Kickstarter Page]

Nintendo 3DS Takes Top Spot In The US

Nintendo 3DS Takes Top Spot In The USConsistency and repeat performances are some of the hallmarks of greatness at the pinnacle of whatever industry or sport that you are involved in, and Nintendo has done it again with their portable handheld console, the Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo 3DS has been claimed by Nintendo to be the best-selling video game system in the U.S. for the fifth consecutive month, while their Wii U console has also gained a new boost in momentum after a price cut was introduced.

I do suppose that the launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y on October 12th globally had something to do with a marked increase in the Nintendo 3DS sales, as a strong title is always a catalyst to shift more hardware units. This just goes to prove that having the best hardware in the world alone is nothing if you do not have the kind of software or games in this aspect, to go along with it. For those of you who have already picked up the Nintendo 3DS recently, do bear in mind that you should have a couple more blockbusters that are set to arrive on the same day that the Microsoft Xbox One is released – The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour should make an appearance this coming November 22nd.

BitLock Is A Keyless Lock For Your Bicycle

BitLock Is A Keyless Lock For Your BicycleThere are cars that have keyless locks in the sense that all the user needs to do is get close to the car, and the vehicle will be able to detect the key in your pocket and unlock the door. This is incredibly handy late at night or when your hands are full and you don’t really wan to dig around your bag or pockets for your keys. Well it looks like a similar solution will be making its way onto bike locks in the future, thanks to the BitLock project which calls itself the world’s first keyless bike lock. (more…)

Archos Unveils Titanium Lineup Of Android SmartphonesArchos is a brand probably better known for its tablets, but in case you loved the brand and wouldn’t mind owning an Archos smartphone, the company has recently revealed their new Titanium lineup of Android smartphones for the European market, with no word on if and when these phones will be making their way stateside. Apart from screen size and battery size, all phones appear to be identical and will feature a MT 6752 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of onboard storage expandable via microSD, a 5MP camera, and all will run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

The devices in question are the Titanium 40, Titanium 45, Titanium 50, and the Titanium 53. They will feature display resolution of 800×800, 854×480, 960×540, and 854×480 respectively. The battery sizes will also vary depending on the model chosen, with the lowest end model feature a battery size of 1,500mAh, while the largest model will come with a 2,500mAh battery. Not the most impressive Android phones we’ve seen to date, but with prices starting at 99 EUR and costing as much as 159.99 EUR, we expect that these phones will appeal to those who need a smartphone but don’t want to pay as much for a higher-end Android device, or maybe even an iPhone.
