The Most Beautiful Photo of Saturn You've Ever Seen

The first time you see this latest picture of Saturn, you’ll probably think it’s fake. The rings are too perfectly round. The swirling surface of the planet is too smooth. The shadows are too sharp. But it’s all real, thanks to the Cassini spacecraft and a Croatian software developer with too much time on his hands.

Pyle Hi-Speed HD is an Action Camera on a Budget

Pyle has been producing audio gear for a number of years. Audio isn’t all the company is about though, it also has a line of ruggedized action cameras. The company has unveiled a new action camera called the Hi-Speed HD is able to record video in full HD resolution.

The Hi-Speed camera can capture video at 30, 60 or 120fps, so I suppose that makes it a “high speed” camera – though just barely. It supports video resolutions up to 1080p, though at only 30fps. Resolution drops to 720p for 60fps video, and 480p for 120fps. The camera has a 12-megapixel sensor and can shoot still photos with a time-lapse mode.

Images are stored to microSD cards up to 32 GB in capacity. The camera also has a 2.4-inch touchscreen on the rear, four times digital zoom, and a mini-HDMI output. Another cool feature of the camera is that it ships with a Wi-Fi remote control. That remote control allows the user to turn the camera on and off remotely.

Power for the camera comes from an internal rechargeable battery good for over two hours of recording per charge. The camera uses CMOS image sensor technology and ships with a USB cable and car charger. The camera also comes with splash proof case and various mounting clips. Des[ote what the Pyle website says, retail price for the camera is a surprisingly low $99.99. Pyle offers the camera in black, blue, gray, red, or silver. This might be the perfect camera for someone who really wants a GoPro, but can’t afford the $300 and up price. Though without one in hand to review, I can’t speak for its image or video quality.

iPhone 5c ‘Undersold Expectations,’ Says Verizon CFO

iPhone 5c Undersold Expectations, Says Verizon CFO

Earlier today Verizon reported its third quarter earnings. Afterwards, in an interview with Reuters, Verizon Communications Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo said that Apple’s unapologetically plastic iPhone 5c “undersold expectations,” while adding that the iPhone 5s was in short supply. Shammo said that iPhone 5c is in “plenty supply” and that this would generally be the answer of each of the major carriers, as consumer reception for the iPhone 5s seems to be much stronger, at least at Verizon.

51 percent of Verizon’s smartphone activations in the third quarter were accounted for by iPhones, though the carrier didn’t breakdown the percentage with regards to different iPhone models. He termed short supply of iPhone 5c as a “significant issue” for the carrier. Shammo revealing that iPhone 5c “undersold expectations” comes at a time when it is consistently being rumored that Apple is seeing weak demand for the iPhone 5c. The company has reportedly cut down production orders for the plastic iPhone almost a month after its launch. Yesterday, WSJ reported that Foxconn had been ordered to cut production by a third while Pegatron had been directed to slash iPhone 5c production by 20 percent. Apple hasn’t commented on these rumors and hasn’t said anything about the demand, or lack thereof, for the iPhone 5c.

Lenovo Reportedly Interested In BlackBerry Acquisition

Lenovo Reportedly Interested In BlackBerry Acquisition

BlackBerry’s future is uncertain at this point in time. The company is up for sale, and it has received a $4.7 billion non-binding buyout offer from Fairfax Financial Holdings, its largest shareholder. Still, there’s a lot of speculation about exactly how the sale will go down. Some analysts believe Fairfax might come back with a lower bid after it has conducted its due diligence. Others believe that BlackBerry is actively seeking other buyers, and that it has seeked expressions of interest from the likes of Intel, Google and Samsung. The latest report from Wall Street Journal reveals that Lenovo just might be interested as well.

Not much is known about Lenovo’s BlackBerry plans at this point in time. The Chinese company itself hasn’t confirmed anything. It was recently tied to a purported buyout of HTC, that hasn’t been confirmed as well. BlackBerry hasn’t commented on this report, though its free to seek other buyers until November 4th, that’s when Fairfax will return with a final bid after having conducting its due diligence and raising the funds required. Lenovo isn’t the only one that’s suddenly seems to have gained interest in the ailing Canadian manufacturer. The company’s co-founders have also formally disclosed their intent to participate in a buyout. Lets see what happens, November 4th isn’t that far off any way.
