Today’s “Kitchen of 2063” Sounds a Lot Like Martha Stewart’s ’90s Dream

Today's "Kitchen of 2063" Sounds a Lot Like Martha Stewart's '90s Dream

The high-end appliance company Miele recently commissioned an interesting study about the kitchen of the future. It projected that in 50 years our food will be 3D-printed, walls in our homes will grow food, and we’ll even have mini-fish farms right in our kitchens. But you’d be forgiven for feeling like you’ve heard this all before. Specifically, from Martha Stewart back in 1996.

Analyst Believes Apple’s iPhone 5c Strategy Will Pay Off In The Long Run

Analyst Believes Apples iPhone 5c Strategy Will Pay Off In The Long Run

It has been rumored multiple times over the past couple of weeks that Apple is cutting down on iPhone 5c production due to weak demand. The company hasn’t officially said anything about demand for its plastic iPhone, but supply chain sources in China believe that the iPhone 5c isn’t selling as well as it was expected too. Just yesterday the WSJ weighed in as well, claiming that Foxconn had received directions from Apple to cut down iPhone 5c production by a third, whereas Pegatron was to reportedly cut production was 20 percent. After such claims, one might believe that Apple might have used the wrong strategy for the iPhone 5c, but Wells Fargo Securities analyst Maynard Um believes that it isn’t so.

Elon Musk is the anonymous buyer of the James Bond Lotus submarine

The Lotus Esprit, a fully functioning submarine used in the James Bond film "The Spy Who Loved Me," went for $968,000 at auction last month, and Elon Musk was the buyer.

Like something out of a Storage Wars fairy tale, the Lotus Esprit submarine — dubbed “Wet Nelly” on the set of the 1977 James Bond classic “The Spy Who Loved Me” — was discovered in a Long Island locker that was purchased for less than $100. The prop, a fully functioning underwater vehicle that was revealed to be the real deal and once piloted by Roger Moore as 007, later went on to net $968,000 in an auction in London last month.

Now it’s been revealed that the secret buyer, who allegedly got the best of a fervent competitor in a heated bidding war, is none other than Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, reports Jalopnik. Despite its rare function, the Esprit is not the most expensive Bond car to go to auction; the … [Read more]

    Xiaomi Denies Smartwatch Claims

    Xiaomi Denies Smartwatch Claims

It was rumored recently that perhaps Xiaomi was building a smartwatch of its own. Xiaomi, often referred to as the Apple of China, has never actually confirmed that it is working on such a product. As per the rumor, the company’s smartwatch would have been priced significantly lower than existing smartwatches, and that it was likely to run on the same MIUI interface that has been found on a number of Xiaomi devices in the past. The company has now officially denied claims that it is building a smartwatch.

The denial comes from Xiaomi co-founder Liwan Jiang, who says that at this point in time, the company is going to focus on its smartphone and TV business. He didn’t flat-out deny the possibility that a smartwatch might be developed somewhere down the line, but it appears that the company has no immediate plans of jumping on the smartwatch bandwagon. Only recently Xiaomi launched a new smartphone as well as a 3D smart TV, the company has seen considerable success in those markets. Its smartphones are some of the best selling devices in China, though the company is yet to make its mark on the international market. It has hired ex-Google executive Hugo Barra to lead its expansion in international markets, perhaps Xiaomi first wants to expand its global presence before diversifying its product portfolio.
