T-Mobile USA Announces Samsung Galaxy Light

T Mobile USA Announces Samsung Galaxy LightThe folks over at T-Mobile have come up with another particular smartphone offering from South Korean conglomerate, Samsung, and this time around, it would be the Samsung Galaxy Light which will no doubt run on the Android mobile operating system from Google. According to T-Mobile, the Samsung Galaxy Light will be one of the most affordable LTE handsets to date, but unfortunately, we do not have the exact details on its pricing. One of the cheapest, eh? Does this mean it is going to arrive for nearly free with a new 2-year contract?

The Samsung Galaxy Light ought to be made available in the weeks to come, where some of its features would include Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a 4” display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, a 5-megapixel shooter at the back, a 1.4GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory that can be further expanded upon via a microSD memory card slot, and a 1,800 mAh battery. This sure as heck seems to shape up to be an entry level handset, and it might just be a good way to introduce someone to the world of Android smartphones, and would be ideal for beginners. Power users, needless to say, would be advised to give this a miss.

Chrome Support For XP Users Extended Until April 2015

Chrome Support For XP Users Extended Until April 2015We do know that the folks over at Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP after April 8, 2014, which would be five years after it stopped mainstream support. Once that date comes and goes, the venerable 12-year-old operating system will no longer be on the receiving end of any new security updates, so its users will have to learn to use the computer by themselves and to make sure that they take all of the necessary security precautions possible to prevent any unwanted intrusion into their system. Google, however, might have been feeling a little bit more benevolent, as they have announced that they will offer support for Chrome users on XP for an additional year – that is, until April 2015.

Google claims that browser bugs are one of the easiest ways for malware to be able to infect computers, and since Windows XP will no longer be getting any security updates anymore after April 2014, it will most probably be an opportunity for hackers to exploit its vulnerabilities. Hence, this is where the Chrome browser comes in handy, as it might mean those with a more security minded point of view might just make the switch from Internet Explorer to Chrome by then.
