Another Round Of Theme Updates For Firefox 2

This article was written on September 12, 2006 by CyberNet.

It was just yesterday that I pointed out some theme changes to Firefox 2. Well, it is a new day and so there are new changes.

The “Home” icon still has the same awkward brown coloring but the roof changed colors. I think they need to make the walls of the house a little lighter because it is just too much brown. It doesn’t appear that I’m the only one thinking that either.

The blue folder icon has been removed from the bookmarks. I’m not sure why because I actually thought it was kinda cool. Maybe the blue was a little too bright but it is a great idea for them to make their own unique looking folder icon.

Lastly, they finally made it more obvious when you hover over a background tab with your mouse. Before it was hardly noticeable but now it is very obvious. That is probably my favorite update for this round.

Alright, take a look at some screenshot comparisons from yesterday’s build to today’s build:

The following tab screenshots are in the format of background tab, background tab being hovered over, and current tab…

This was another nice set of updates but I hope we still see a change in the folder icons. Everything is coming along pretty smoothly and I now hear more people complimenting the theme rather than complaining about it.

You can try out the latest nightly build yourself by going here.

Consumer Reports Find That iPhones Are “No Match” For Motorola’s Droid Lineup

Consumer Reports Find That iPhones Are No Match For Motorolas Droid LineupWhen it comes to choosing a smartphone, many factors are taken into consideration, such as hardware features, software features, price, brand loyalty, and etc., but for those looking for a little guidance, a recent Consumer Reports has suggested that when it comes to smartphones, they believe in their findings that Apple’s iPhones are no match for Motorola’s Droid lineup of devices on Verizon. The report notes that while some features such as the Touch ID sensor on the iPhone 5s was impressive, and the overall look of iOS 7 was great, they felt that in terms of battery life and screen sizes were what makes Motorola’s Droid lineup “better”.

They found that Google Now and Motorola’s always listening feature on the Moto X was a “killer” of the iPhone, not to mention devices like the MAXX came with pretty sizable batteries that made it last much longer compared to the iPhone. Like we said, it does come down to personal preference and while one phone might look better on paper, it might not feel as good or run as smooth compared to another device, but in any case if you’re interested in checking out the report, head on over to Consumer Reports for the run down.

Motorola Unveils Web Tool To Help iPhone Users Make The Switch

Motorola Unveils Web Tool To Help iPhone Users Make The SwitchGiven that the smartphone market is starting to become saturated in some regions, creating newer and better phones sometimes isn’t the only answer, but providing customers with an easy method to jump ship could help, and that’s what Motorola appears to be doing with a new web tool the company launched just recently. The new web tool recently made its debut on the MotoMaker website and basically what it does is that it allows iPhone users to grab their data from iCloud, such as their contacts and calendar events, and transfer it effortlessly over onto their brand new Moto X handset.

According to Punit Soni, the VP of product management at Motorola Mobility, this is a tool offered to customers when they purchase the Moto X handset over at the MotoMaker website, allowing them to easily migrate their data from iCloud onto their new handset. It is a pretty good idea and while it might not make iPhone users jump ship in droves onto the Moto X device, its convenience might be welcome to iPhone users who were looking to switch platforms but were a bit hesitant due to the amount of data that they might have to manually sync if they were to switch from iCloud to Google’s own cloud services.

Facebook Ads On iPhone Do Better Compared To Android

Facebook Ads On iPhone Do Better Compared To AndroidWhen it comes to mobile ads on Facebook, is there a platform that does better than the other? Well logic would dictate that the platform with a larger userbase would win, since that would imply that more people are seeing the ads. However interestingly enough that does not appear to be the case, at least according to a recent study by Nanigans who found that in a study of about 200 billion ads on Facebook, mobile ads on the iPhone managed to generate 1,790% more return on investment versus Android.

Nanigans admits that the data that they have managed to gather is controversial and have declined to speculate in their report as to why the disparity is so great, but they do note that this will differ between industries. For example in the gaming industry, the disparity in numbers aren’t as great. According to the report, “Retailers are realizing significantly greater return from audiences on iOS than audiences on Android […] For the first three quarters of 2013, RPC [revenue per click] on iOS averaged 6.1 times higher than Android and ROI [return on investment] on iOS averaged 17.9 times higher than Android.”

What do you guys think? Why do you think Facebook ads for the iPhone are bringing higher returns compared to Android?
