Samsung Dominates Apple In South Korea

Samsung Dominates Apple In South KoreaWhile Android’s market share might be bigger than iOS, in terms of brand, there are instances where Apple’s market share beats out some of the Android competition, but over  in South Korea it looks like Apple is definitely getting beat, and quite badly. According to numbers released by mobile analytics firm, Flurry, their report has suggested that over in South Korea, Samsung’s dominance is pretty strong and they are sitting at 60% of the market share, with Apple trailing very far behind at 14%, beaten by LG by a meager 1%, although they are higher than South Korean brand, Pantech.

Interestingly while this might be just one market, Flurry notes that this could be what other markets could look like in the future as more countries start to reach smartphone saturation. “As such, it provides a good early indicator of what other markets can expect once the rapid growth period the mobile market has experienced over the past few years ends.” However while Samsung clearly dominates in South Korea, Apple has them beat at least in terms of customer satisfaction, although it was a pretty close race and who knows what next year’s results could indicate? What do you guys think? Is Samsung’s home ground advantage expected, or did you expect Apple to put up a better fight?

BBM For iOS And Android To Launch “Within Days”

BBM For iOS And Android To Launch Within DaysBBM for Android and iOS was meant to be released a few weeks ago, but due to technical reasons, BlackBerry decided to pull the app only hours after it hit the app stores. It was expected that the app would be released shortly after the little hiccup, but a few weeks later and we still have yet to hear word about its release. We had heard that the app was being seeded as a beta to Android beta testers, so presumably a release was imminent, and now according to BlackBerry’s CMO, the app’s release is expected “within days”.

Naturally a specific date was not mention, but hopefully “within days” would mean that the app would be released sometime later this week. According to BlackBerry’s CMO, he expects that the app would be have addressed the issues that plagued the original app prior to its release. As it stands those who were quick enough to download the app prior to it being pulled are able to use it as per normal, but for those who weren’t as quick, we guess you will be able to get your chance later this week. In any case we’ll definitely keep our eyes and ears peeled for more info regarding the release, so be sure to check back with us at a later date for the details.

Nokia Lumia 625 Market Share Leaps To 3.1% In India In A Month

Nokia Lumia 625 Market Share Leaps To 3.1% In India In A MonthWhile Nokia has come out with some pretty interesting and amazing high-end phones, it seems that their specialty, whether intentional or not, would be their low-end devices which surprisingly have managed to gain a fair bit of ground in emerging markets despite there being plenty of alternatives. The Lumia 520 has managed to make a pretty good name for itself, and now it looks like the Lumia 625 could be the next big thing in India, at least that’s what the recent numbers released by AdDuplex seems to suggest.

According to the firm, the Lumia 625 was designed for the Indian market in mind but it did not take off the way it was supposed to, at least at the start. However a month after the handset was made available, the numbers have shown that the handset has managed to grab a pretty solid 3.1% of the Windows Phone market share in India. With its 3.1% market share, it has overtaken the higher-end Nokia Lumia 920 although we suspect it might be a while before it overtakes the Lumia 520, if at all. Of course with the acquisition of Nokia by Microsoft looming ahead, we suspect there could be some customers who are holding off to see what Microsoft’s plans are first before committing to the brand and platform, but for now it looks like Nokia is holding their own.

Vodafone UK And Nokia Offer Netflix For Lumia 1020 Customers

Vodafone UK And Nokia Offer Netflix For Lumia 1020 CustomersIf you’re living in the UK and you were thinking of picking up a Nokia Lumia device, perhaps the Nokia Lumia 1020 might be a phone worth considering. Granted the device is considered one of Nokia’s high-end devices and will come with a more expensive price tag, the good news is that if you were to get it via Vodafone UK, you will be getting yourself a one year subscription to Netflix. As it stands this offer appears to be valid only for the Lumia 1020, so for those looking for a more affordable device, we guess you’d be out of luck.

This move comes as Netflix is hoping to gain more footing over in Europe, especially when they are faced with local equivalents such as LoveFilm, so together with this offering, would-be Lumia 1020 customers in the UK will be able to enjoy Netflix’s services for a year, which hopefully will translate into a longer subscription after that, not to mention this deal will probably make Nokia’s devices a tad more attractive to those who love watching videos while on the go. So, any of our readers in the UK planning on picking up a Lumia 1020 after hearing about this deal?

Riot Games’ CEO Twitter Gets Hacked, New Game Revealed

Riot Games CEO Twitter Gets Hacked, New Game RevealedWe’re sure many gamers out there are curious about their favorite game’s developers and what they are up to next. Naturally these plans are usually kept a secret until it’s time to unveil them, but we suppose some are just too eager and in the case of Riot Games’ CEO, Marc Merrill, he had his Twitter account hacked by a hacker who refers to himself as simply “Jason”. While masquerading as Merrill, Jason took the opportunity to reveal one of the developer’s games which was called, League of Legends: Supremacy. The title was trademarked back in 2012 and while some speculated it could be a new mode for the game, it turns out that Supremacy is more of a trading card type of game.

The hacker threatened to release all the artwork from the game, but surprisingly did not follow through. Merrill has since confirmed that his account was indeed hacked and that the screenshots released by the hacker were that from one of the many prototypes that Riot Games was experimenting with. It is unclear if Supremacy will ever see the light of day, but for now it looks like at least part of their plans, past or future, has been revealed, but what do you guys think? Would a League of Legends trading card game be something you might be interested in?
