100 Gbps over fiber is old news, but those same speeds achieved wirelessly? That’s a first. Researchers at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology have managed to use sub-terahertz waves (237.5 GHz, in this case) to transmit data over 20 meters at 100 gigabits per second. Since the experiment used …

Chargers Beat Colts: Philip Rivers, Nick Novak Lead San Diego To 19-9 Win (VIDEO)
Posted in: Today's ChiliSAN DIEGO — SAN DIEGO (AP) — Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers kept Andrew Luck on the sideline most of the night, giving the Indianapolis Colts quarterback no chance at another comeback.
Rivers threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to rookie Keenan Allen and Nick Novak kicked four field goals to give the Chargers a 19-9 victory against the Colts on Monday night.

Just in case the opening theme song from 2006’s Gift: Eternal Rainbow wasn’t saccharine enough on its own, someone went ahead and created this seizure-inducing music video for it, replete with a dancing granny, infinite cookies, and a giant MacOS pointer. Because it’s Japan, why the hell not.

Google Base has revamped their homepage and it doesn’t seem that different to me. In fact, one thing that they did do was remove the search box which really puzzles me. Now I have to click on a category in order to pull up a page that allows me to perform a search. Alternatively I can receive a search box my selecting “My Items” from the upper right corner of the screen but you have to be logged in for that to work.
Google is centered around being able to easily search data but I think this greatly hinders the ability to quickly perform a search. Here is what the Google Base Blog had to say about eliminating the search box from the homepage:
One of the other changes is that we removed the search box from the Base homepage. In its place we’ve added more examples of popular and interesting item types — like car parts and filmography — to let Google Base providers get a sense of the wide variety of data they can post on Base. You can still search all the items on Base from your Active Items dashboard.
It was only the homepage that received the visual update and I have to say that I am a little disappointed because of the whole search box thing.
That makes me wonder though, are there any other Google pages that do not have a search box? Maybe this is the first one (with the exception of login pages). 😉

The Lavabit debacle has been ongoing for weeks now, with details about the previously hush-hush case coming to light in recent days. For those who were affected by the spontaneous shutdown this past summer, a temporary window is being provided to get your data. Starting today, a subdomain of the site is up allowing users […]
WASHINGTON — House Democrats may not be getting far, but they’re scoring points for creativity for the ways they’ve tried to force a vote on a “clean” funding bill to end the government shutdown.
Over the past two weeks, Democrats have offered 80 unanimous consent requests to take up a Senate-passed bill to fund the government, with no strings attached. As of Monday, they’ve used procedural motions 15 times — sometimes on what’s called a motion to recommit, sometimes on a previous question motion — to try to force a vote on the Senate-passed measure. But in every case, Democrats’ motions were ruled out of order or were otherwise shot down by the parliamentarian, who takes cues from House Republican leaders.
Beyond procedures on the House floor, Democrats filed a discharge petition to try to force a clean funding bill out of committee and onto the floor. Several members have publicized that effort, tweeting out pictures of each other on the House floor lining up to sign it. But the petition needs 218 votes to go anywhere. And so far, Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) is the only Republican who has said he would support the effort. Democrats would need at least 18 Republicans.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Led by a pair of precocious rookies, the Los Angeles Dodgers got themselves right back into the NL championship series.
Hyun-Jin Ryu outpitched Adam Wainwright with seven innings of three-hit ball, and Yasiel Puig celebrated twice on his RBI triple that helped Los Angeles beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-0 Monday night in Game 3.
Adrian Gonzalez’s RBI double ended a 1-for-17 drought for the Dodgers with runners in scoring position. An ailing Hanley Ramirez added a run-scoring hit as Los Angeles handed Wainwright his first postseason loss and trimmed its deficit to 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
Rockstar Says Lost GTA Online Characters And Progress Will Remain Lost Forever
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhenever a new title or software is launched, the developer would do their level best to make sure that everything turns out right, or simply to have it work as intended without running into any other kinds of issues. We do know that GTA Online did not launch as smoothly as expected, although Rockstar did suggest a fix for the missing character bug while offering up to $500k in GTA currency as part of saying sorry. All the while, there was still a sliver of hope that the lost GTA Online characters could be retrieved, but it sees that Rockstar has stepped forward to confirm that both characters as well as progress lost in GTA Online are unable to be restored.
This particular confirmation arrived in the form of a comment from Rockstar concerning its latest update, as follows, “Hi everyone, For those that are still having any technical issues, as mentioned above there is a title update coming next week that will include more fixes including the vehicle loss one – and we will remain committed to continuing to fine-tune the game to address any and all issues to get GTA Online running as smooth as possible. For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we’re giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Los Santos & Blaine extra sweet.”
