Eudora & Thunderbird To Become The Best Of Friends

This article was written on October 11, 2006 by CyberNet.

Eudora is making its way over to the open source world because Qualcomm decided to start basing the Eudora Mail application off of Mozilla Thunderbird. I know a few people that use Eudora as their primary mail application and when I informed them of the this information their initial response was “Eudora is already free.” I then realized that they were using the Light version which has no ads but fewer features than the Sponsored version. There is also a Paid version available for $19.95 which has no advertisements and all of the features.

There are a lot of nice features that I hope get migrated over from the existing version of Eudora to the Mozilla-based version which is expected to be released in the first half of 2007. The announcement of the partnership came after Eudora 7.1 was released today and labeled as the final commercial release. Surprisingly the update fixed and introduced a lot of new things for being the last release.

It seems like everyone is partnering off or purchasing other companies in hopes of beating out the competitors. Right now the big news is on Google and their acquisitions/products that don’t seem to be stopping. Before we know it Yahoo! and Microsoft will be teaming up against Google,  but by that time Google will already own most of the Internet. 🙂

I Know The Sad Kid At The Zoo

I saw the picture the way we see so many things on Facebook – a quick glance, a quick judgment. Blink. It was a picture of a little boy, seen from the back, standing on the fence outside the National Zoo, under a sign that reads “Zoo Temporarily Closed.” I noticed it because the little boy looked about the same age as my little boy, and we live close to the zoo, and the zoo’s closure has been, in our household, the shutdown’s most concrete manifestation. So I thought about linking the picture on Facebook, as being expressive of our shutdown experience, and then decided not to, and moved on.

Government Shutdown Negotiations Stuck On Sequestration

WASHINGTON — As the United States government approaches a deadline for raising the debt limit and the government shutdown nears its second week, Senate Democrats are taking a stand on sequestration.

The party’s leadership rejected an offer from Senate Republicans on Saturday morning mainly because the proposal locked in those budget cuts for too long.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) called it the “single biggest sticking point” in negotiations, while his counterpart in leadership, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) deemed it the central dispute.

Hanson: MMMBop

This song. This. Song. I mean really. But consider the video, too. There are gems in here, people. First of all, boy can these kids fit in the backseat of a car. Note also their ability to all ride simultaneously in what appears to be an Army Jeep. They also have fun on public buses. Diverse modes of transportation being depicted. The brothers apparently play near highways and potentially run across them for fun/to plant things on the other side. Also note the presence of timelapse technology. That flower is blossoming before our very eyes! Cue greenscreen. They’re in strange cities, using pay phones, generally being wacky. Oh and look, they’re playing around on the moon. Jokesters! I will leave you with two important thoughts. 1. Rollerblades. 2. That hair. Thank you. [Amazon, iTunes, Spotify]
