Old-school MacPaint revived online with CloudPaint

Ah, memories.

I remember staring at a little Macintosh screen in my younger years, fiddling with shapes, spray-paint brushes, and brick patterns. I created little computer drawings of cats and fantastical creatures. It was all done with MacPaint, the classic Apple drawing software that debuted in 1984.

Flash-forward to modern day and all those memories are coming back thanks to CloudPaint, a fully functional version of MacPaint online from developer Martin Braun. It’s all there, from the FatBits feature to the annoying little selection lasso.

Samsung’s Galaxy Round is gimmicky not geekery

I love odd gadgets and weird technology. I like manufacturers that think at right-angles when it comes to designs and functionality. Yet Samsung’s newly announced Galaxy Round, the Android smartphone with a curved AMOLED display like a techie taco, for all its new screen technology, leaves me cold. “Samsung’s Galaxy Round is the epitome of […]

Facebook Reportedly Preparing Major Updates For Its iOS Apps

Facebook Reportedly Preparing Major Updates For Its iOS Apps

Facebook is reportedly preparing updates for its main iPhone, iPad and iPod touch app. Only a couple of weeks back Facebook released an update for its iPhone app which brought the user interface in line with iOS 7, at that time that company didn’t update its iPad app, opting to retain the old user interface for it instead. The upcoming update is expected to bring Graph Search to iOS devices. Graph Search is a feature Facebook launched earlier this year through which users can find fellow users who’re interested in the same things, such as the same musician, TV show, movie or even those who’ve liked a particular Facebook page. Graph Search is apparently going to be located in the app’s main search bar.

The world’s largest social network is also said to be preparing an update for the standalone Messenger app, with two designs being internally tested right now. The second of the two designs is said to be “very fitting” for iOS 7 and its the one that is expected to be rolled out to users. Messenger app is also likely to get the ability to access the device’s address book in order to locate contacts that can be messaged through the app. A version with similar design is also expected to be released for Android. It hasn’t been said when Facebook will roll out these updated apps, the company hasn’t officially commented on the report as yet. [Image via 9to5Mac]

MacPaint In Your Browser Lets You Relive The Macintosh's Best Feature

If it wasn’t for artists who embraced the company’s computers, Apple might not have survived to release the iPod. And were it not for MacPaint, the simple (by today’s standards) bitmap-based painting program included with the original Macintosh, those artists may have never fell in love with Apple in the first place. But if you’re too young to remember what all the fuss was about, now you can relive MacPaint in your browser with CloudPaint.
