Users of Google Drive will be happy to know that today brings a handful of improvements to Slides, though the update is relatively minor. As you can see in the image above, slides will now be set to widescreen by default, giving you ample room to add text or images to your heart’s content. …
If this next-generation display technology developed by Asukanet ever goes past the concept stage, the days of huddling over an ATM display to block your balances from prying eyes could be over. With a viewing angle of just plus or minus 20 degrees, the Aerial Imaging Plate has a very specific sweet spot that ensures your private info stays private.
Robots are stealing our jobs. Again. In fact, they’ve been stealing our jobs in one way or another since the dawn of the industrial revolution.
Both the Android version (since recently) and the iOS version (since today) of Foursquare now work with the real-time recommendations engine introduced this year by the developers behind the project. You’ll find that the team behind this project have been waiting for some time to put it in the hands of Apple device users while […]
It is no secret that Vevo has been working quite hard to transition from web browsers and mobile apps to other mediums. The go-to music destination for millions of people around the world seeks to expand its reach beyond these two mediums and it has found the answer in internet connected TVs. Only recently the Vevo app for Apple TV was launched, which puts the music service on millions of TVs around the world. It has now launched the official app for Samsung smart TVs and blu-ray players, to further bolster its entry into living rooms.
The Vevo app for Samsung smart TVs and blu-ray players is available from today. It will give users access to Vevo’s massive library of music videos from more than 25,000 global artists. Users will also have access to concerts and original shows. Vevo says that the experience has been tailored for Samsung’s devices and easy viewing. It is only compatible with those TVs or blu-ray players that were either released this year or last year. There will be no need to sign up for a Vevo account in order to use the app. Users are allowed to create playlists of up to seven music videos without needing an account. At this point in time, the app is available in select markets, including the U.S., UK, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and more.

The Archos GamePad 2 appears to fix everything that was wrong with the first model.
(Credit: Archos)
The original Archos GamePad didn’t attract much attention, despite the fact that it offered what a lot of hardcore gamers seemingly wanted: built-in game controls in the form of dual control sticks and lots of buttons. It was, for all intents in purposes, an Android-powered Sony PSP, though with a bigger screen and a lot more games to choose from.
No doubt hoping for a better reception, Archos just unveiled the GamePad 2, which promises a host of improvements over the original.
I actually thought the first GamePad was one of the most underrated products of the year. Yes, it suffered from mediocre battery life, and the controls had some issues. But for less than the price (at the time) of a Kindle Fire, you got a full-featured Android Jelly Bean tablet that really was stellar for playing certain kinds of games.
The GamePad 2 looks to correct every single shortcoming, starting under the hood: It’s powered by a 1.6GHz A9 quad-core processor, a dedicated quad-core graphics processor, and 2GB of system RAM. Archos has also … [Read more]

YouTube Being Gamed?
Posted in: Today's ChiliThis article was written on March 05, 2008 by CyberNet.
Many social sites have had to deal with gaming in one form or other. Digg for example, has had big issues with people trying to game the content. Some say that it’s a legitimate form of marketing in a social media age like we have today while others say that manipulating content should not be tolerated. There’s no way to confirm for sure that YouTube is being gamed, but from the looks of it, they are.
If you take a look at the most viewed videos of all time, you’ll see that Evolution of Dance (EoD) is no longer #1 (it’s held that spot for quite some time now) and in its place is a video called “CANSEI DE SER SEXY Music is My Hot Hot Sex (CSS)” By watching the video, you’ll see there’s absolutely nothing exciting about it. Google Blogoscoped described it perfectly by saying “it’s a neon-colors fan-made production showing people dancing and posing to a song also used in an iPod ad.” It has 89,750,739 views compared to 77,249,245 views for Evolution of Dance which is why it’s number one. Below is the new #1 video:
Looking at some of the other statistics makes us question whether it legitimately is really the most popular video.
- Evolution of Dance has received 271,379 ratings while CSS has received 4,764 ratings which is a difference of 266,615
- EoD has been favorited 394,696 times while CSS has been favorited 10,834 times which is a difference of 383,862
- EoD has 123,644 comments while CSS has 4,459 comments which is a difference of 119,185
When you look at those differences, something just doesn’t seem right. Andy Baio of Waxy.org used the YouTube API to investigate further and compared the ratio of social activity to the view count, and what he found is nearly enough to prove that not only is CSS being gamed, but there are others on the list of most popular videos that could potentially be gamed as well. He says:
If you look at the ratio of views-to-ratings, you’ll see the CSS video has a very unusual 21,487-to-1 ratio. In other words, for every 21,487 views, someone leaves one rating. To compare the average ratio for ever other video in the top 10 is a more reasonable 590-to-1. This ratio is representative of other popular videos, too; the median ratio for the entire top 500 is 545-to-1. Skimming down the list, you can see some other strange videos that might raise eyebrows.
Just like many other social sites out there, it appears as though YouTube may have to take a look at ways that they could prevent people from manipulating the system. Is there a bug, or is someone really cheating? We do wonder though, if someone were cheating, how this is of benefit to them when there are no advertisements. Any thoughts?

YouTube: you know it as a land where even the most adorable video of a puppy can devolve into a thread of racist, sexist, homophobic gobbledygook in an instant. But would it help if the site’s notoriously awful comments were sung by an angelic choir?
