Monsieur Robotic Bartender Intends To Deliver The ‘Perfect’ Cocktail

Monsieur Robotic Bartender Intends To Deliver The Perfect CocktailAre robots about to take over the world? I suppose you could more or less say so, as they have already played a large role in places such as factories, doing highly repetitive tasks without ever getting tired or having to ask for some time off, or to even organize a strike simply because it does not have enough grease around its motors. Perhaps they might also replace your regular bartender at the local watering hole, as evidenced by Monsieur, a robotic bartender. The Monsieur happens to be a machine which will learn of one’s moods as well as preferences over time in order to concoct the ‘perfect’ cocktail.

This is the result of a company which happens to be known as Monsieur as well, and right now, this particular robotic bartender is trying to sniff out $100,000 on Kickstarter. Just like a human bartender, the Monsieur is able to come up with a smart recommendations depending on one’s preferences, and you can even take advantage of a smartphone app so that you can place an order for a drink remotely. I guess there is one major drawback of the Monsieur, no matter how fantastic its mix of cocktails can be – it does not offer you a shoulder to cry on when you have had a particularly rough day.

Star Wars duct tape is great for everyday uses like fixing household items, making crafts like wallets, patching up damaged X-Wing fighters, AT-ATs, protocol droids, or even Death Stars. Facebook commenter Chris Bugher put it best: “It has a light side a dark side and it binds to the universe together.”

It comes from the Duck tape brand and will start hitting stores soon. The design includes Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, and Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, and the classic yellow Star Wars logo and Imperial symbol. How cool is that?

Why Is the US Army Investing In 4D Printing?

A new grant from the U.S. Army Research Office will split $855,000 between three research teams working on so-called "4D printing." By military budget standards, that’s chump change—but it hints at a huge future for a technology that’s been lingering on the horizon for years.

iKettle boils water on command for lazy smartphone users

Too bad it doesn't pour your cuppa, too.

    (Credit: Firebox)

Getting up and walking into the kitchen is such a hassle. Why not stay under your cozy covers and use your smartphone to turn on the kettle? That’s the idea behind iKettle, a Wi-Fi-enabled kitchen gadget that connects to your iOS or Android device.

The iKettle can be controlled remotely from anywhere in your house. You can kick back on the couch, turn on the kettle with your phone, and lounge around until the water is ready. You will get a notification on your phone when the kettle has reached a boil. A keep-warm setting maintains the heat until you get there.

Foursquare Updates Android And iOS Apps With Real Time Recommendations And More

Foursquare Updates Android And iOS Apps With Real Time Recommendations And More

Foursquare has announced today that it is rolling out updated versions of its apps for Android and iOS that bring an updated look and feel as well as a simple feed which shows users what’s most relevant nearby. A major feature that the update brings, particularly for iPhone, is real time recommendations. The feature has already been available for select people on Android, and it is being rolled out to a “small batch” of people initially on the iPhone. Foursquare will continue expanding the feature everyday until all iPhone users are eventually covered.

The feature basically works in the background and tries to determine your location based on the device’s movements. So for example if you’re in a sushi restaurant, Foursquare will mine through insights provided by its more than 40 million members to provide you with information that is relevant to that particular sushi restaurant, such as tips, specials and more. There’s also a new “nearby” button, tapping on it will display which of your Foursquare friends are close to your location. The feed will also show each friend’s most recent check-in, those who want to see more of a particular friend’s activities can tap through to their profile. Foursquare for Android and iOS is available as a free download from the Google Play Store and the App Store.

Pantech Vega Note Picture Leaks Ahead Of Official Announcement

Pantech Vega Note Picture Leaks Ahead Of Official Announcement

Pantech isn’t exactly a household name in the West, many people won’t be aware of the fact that this manufacturer makes pretty decent smartphones. It is actually the third largest manufacturer in Korea, but it isn’t in the spotlight always like Samsung and LG, who’re both ahead of it. Tomorrow the manufacturer is going to announce Pantech Vega Note, a phablet of its own that comes with stylus support. A purported picture of the Pantech Vega Note has leaked online ahead of the upcoming official announcement.

Much like the Galaxy Note 3 from rival Samsung, Pantech’s phablet also has a stylus tucked in. It is interesting to see that there also appears to be a fingerprint scanner on the back, an additional which will definitely give the Vega Note a leg up on its local rival. It was recently reported that Galaxy Note 3′s fingerprint scanner was dropped as it didn’t pass Samsung’s quality assurance tests, though the company is rumored to make a variant which brings this feature. Pantech seems to have figured out how to put a fingerprint scanner on its phablet the first time around. Other rumored specifications include a 5.9 inch full 1080p HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quadcore processor, 2GB RAM, Android 4.2 and support for LTE-Advanced networks. [Image via G4Games]
