Google Shopping Gets Localized

Google Shopping Gets LocalizedGoogle’s Google Shopping online service has just been updated, as Google has tried to localize the shopping experience for the end user. All you need to do is enter the name of a product, and who knows, you might just be able to check out an ad from a local merchant. The ad itself could be linked to a retailer’s site, allowing you to check out the product before paying a visit to the actual store. When it comes to Google’s commerce blog, they will put up an example on how someone who is browsing through a particular fragrance could discover a link to a local store from where he is able to check out the pricing, availability, see similar items, in addition to obtaining the hours of the brick and mortar store, and make a phone call if required.

Where the product information is concerned, it would include pricing and availability that hails from the Google Merchant Center, which in turn receives the information straight from retailers. These very same retailers will have to pony up for the Product Listing Ads, of course, where it is based on a per click basis. At this point in time, this information will be available to a limited number of retailers. [Press Release]

Fujitsu made a Windows 8 tablet with a fan that works underwater

Hidden within Fujitsu’s autumn lineup for Japan was another waterproof tablet, but this one had something a little different — an extractor fan that survives underwater. The 12.5-inch QH77/M will need it, because it runs on Intel’s 1.6GHz Core i5-4200U processor, which (nearly always) requires a …

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y arrive on Nintendo 3DS October 12

Way back in early January, Nintendo teased 3DS owners with some teaser content for Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, promising that it would arrive for the console later this autumn. HTC Sense 5.5 Screenshots Spotted

HTC Sense 5.5 Screenshots SpottedHTC first rolled out their Sense 5.0 user interface skin a good seven months plus back, and it goes without saying that it has been long overdue that a new version should be in the pipeline already. Apparently, someone has already come up with screenshots of the upcoming HTC Sense 5.5 user interface, which is obviously part of a leak, and there were tweaks included in the new and upcoming version, too.

When HTC introduced the Blinkfeed with the Sense 5.0 user interface, folks never had much of a choice when it comes to turning off this particular feature – handy when you are already running low on battery. It does seem as though HTC Sense 5.5 will change this, as you can disable or enable the Blinkfeed feature according to your whim and fancy. Apart from that, HTC will also be introducing a couple of new topics to the Blinkfeed, where the update will deliver the choice to add your own custom topics to the feed.

Other improvements that can be found in HTC Sense 5.5 will also include an improved keyboard which features additional emoticons for you to play around with, while the camera is also touted to be better since it features new options such as dual capture and panorama+. Hopefully HTC will deliver a concrete release date for the new Sense 5.5 UI.

Samsung SM-G910S Received Certification In South Korea

Samsung SM G910S Received Certification In South KoreaYes, I guess it is true – the Samsung Galaxy Round which was already covered by us, has received its certification in South Korea earlier on in the form of the Samsung SM-G910S. Of course, we did also talk about the possibility of another model, the Samsung SM-G910 being talked up less than a week ago, where it was touted to be a possible Galaxy Note 3 with a flexible display. This would mean that the Samsung SM-G910S is the first smartphone from the South Korean conglomerate to roll out a flexible OLED display.

In the certification, it was mentioned that the Samsung SM-G910S will feature Android 4.3 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice, LTE as well as NFC connectivity, in addition to a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, which more or less tallies with what we have already seen in the Galaxy Round during its official announcement. Well, we also know that LG Display is going full well ahead with the mass production of flexible OLED displays, so it seems that Samsung has beat LG to the punch where an official product is concerned. We will have to wait until November to see what else LG Display has come up with, so stay tuned!

Apple To Hold iPad Event This October 22ndThe folks over at Apple still have some tricks up their sleeves, that is, more products to be announced before the year comes to an end. In fact, we now have confirmation that Apple will be unveiling a couple more products this month on October 22nd itself. Folks who are familiar with the plans concocted over in Cupertino have informed AllThingsD that Apple is scheduled to hold its next invitation-only event on Tuesday, October 22nd. The main focus of this gathering would be to introduce a new iPad, although it is also very likely that the new Mac Pro as well as OS X Mavericks will be featured on the stage, too

Just what kind of hardware will the fifth-generation iPad bring to the table? Well, for starters, it is tipped to arrive in a thinner as well as lighter design which will not be too far off from the iPad mini, in addition to an improved camera, of course. It is also tipped that Apple’s new 64-bit A7 chip will be made available underneath the hood, and there will also be a second-generation iPad mini in tow that will sport an upgraded Retina Display, alongside with the probability of the A7 chip incorporated as well. Will there be a fingerprint sensor integrated within? Nothing concrete has been decided just yet, but it would not be too long before everyone finds out!

Reuters: Panasonic Is Going to Kill Off Its Plasma TVs by March 2014

According to Reuters, Panasonic is going to stop production of its fantastic plasma TV sets by March 2014. That sucks. But also not surprising since previous reports had hinted at Panasonic planning to cut its TV production and that the TV market has been overtaken by seemingly every other technology not named plasma.
