Ring Clock just goes to show that size doesn’t matter

Ring Clock
We have a lot of preconceived notions about how things should be. That could easily relate to a matter of subjects, but when it comes to technology, most people have a set way of viewing certain gadgets or gizmos. Most of the time, a watch is associated with something that is worn on your wrist, with a clock face that is round. Of course, there are always people out there that are looking to break the mold, which has led to some pretty interesting innovations.

The Ring Clock is something you definitely won’t see every day. This may look like a chunky ring with numbers on it, but with a simple twist it will reveal bright LED lights showing you the time of day. The design is pretty sleek, and you won’t have to worry about the normal bumps and bruises that scuff up a wrist watch. Not to mention there’s not any glass face for you to worry about breaking either.

This is a surgical stainless steel construction that has three rings with the hours, minutes, and seconds displayed. The LED is only available in blue or orange, and in one two-hour charge, you’ll be able to get a week of use out of it (about 15 uses per day). The battery will only last for three years, but you can go through the return process of getting it replaced for about $55. I suppose it should only make sense as the ring itself is around  $195. It comes with a Qi wireless charger where you can set the time. It is water-resistant, but it’s always a better idea to remove jewelry before submerging your hands in water.

HTC Chairwoman Refutes Takeover Rumors, Claims Everything Is Well

HTC Chairwoman Refutes Takeover Rumors, Claims Everything Is WellHTC is not doing too well for itself and has recently announced an operating loss of $101 million, making it the company’s first in many years. To that extent there have been rumors suggesting that HTC could be looking for a company to buy them out and hopefully solve their financial woes, and that a change in leadership was imminent especially in the face of HTC’s “failures”, despite devices like the HTC One having won awards, and with the upcoming HTC One Max phablet on its way which hopefully will appeal to customers looking for a large display akin to that of the Samsung Galaxy Note series. HTC Sends Out Invites For 16th/18th October Event In Hong Kong And Taiwan

HTC Sends Out Invites For 16th/18th October Event In Hong Kong And TaiwanAccording to earlier rumors, it was speculated that the HTC One Max phablet could see a launch on the 17th of October. Interestingly enough it turns out that the rumor was semi-accurate because according to recent invitations that have been sent out (via Engadget), HTC has announced events in both Hong Kong and Taiwan on the 16th and 18th of October respectively. Given that Taiwan’s event is held on the 18th and due to the timezone difference, it is possible that the 17th of October date is true as it might still be the 17th in a different part of the world. However we’re not sure why HTC has decided to hold two separate events, especially only days apart.

According to the event which was written in Chinese, it reads, “One finger opens up a big view” and You are invited to immerse in the sound with us”, possibly hinting at the HTC One Max’s rumored fingerprint scanner and inclusion of Beats Audio respectively. In any case we are looking forward to the official announcement and put an end to all the rumors and speculation, so if the HTC One Max is a device you would love to get your hands on, despite it using a slightly less powerful processor in the form of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (versus the Snapdragon 800), check back with us on those dates for the details!

HTC One Gets An 18-Carat Gold Makeover

HTC One Gets An 18 Carat Gold MakeoverGold finishes for smartphones seem to be the in thing these days. It was only a few years ago when many went crazy over a white finish, a trend started when Apple decided to give their iPhone 3GS a white paint job over the more sombre black. The iPhone 5s has seen the gold treatment, with Samsung chiming in with a gold Galaxy S4, and now it looks like HTC will be hopping aboard the gold-plated bandwagon as well with a special edition gold HTC One handset. It should be noted that this is not an official release by HTC, but rather an option offered by Goldgenie, the same company responsible for the gold-plated iPhone 5s.

This 18-carat gold version of the HTC One was created to celebrate the 18th anniversary of the MOBO awards, which for those unfamiliar, is a British awards ceremony that celebrates Music of Black Origin, hence “MOBO”. The handset is priced at an eye-watering £1579.17 which is about $2,538.07 when converted. However for those who do purchase it, you will not only be getting the handset itself, but it will come in a luxury cherry oak finished box, Beats Audio earphones, a dock connector to USB cable, a USB power adapter, and a Clear-Coat full body protection “installed by master craftsmen at Goldgenie”. Don’t suppose there are any takers, are there?

“Hovercraft Amazonia”, A New Way Of Roaming The Rainforest Rivers

Hovercraft AmazoniaInvented around the 1950’s, hovercrafts are not exactly a novelty to our eyes. They are useful transportation vehicles due to the fact that they can move both in land and water. However, hovercrafts are not so well-known in Brazil, where a firm of bold entrepeneurs decided to build one from scratch in order to travel in the rivers of Amazonia.
