Microsoft Approached Samsung And Huawei About Dual-Booting Windows Phone/Android Devices [Rumor]
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe other day it was rumored that Microsoft had asked HTC to consider whether they would be willing to create a dual-booting device that would run both Android and Windows Phone at the same time. It was an interesting idea and it seems that HTC was not the only ones Microsoft had approached. According to new reports, Microsoft has approached their other Windows Phone OEMs such as Samsung and Huawei, asking them to if they too would be willing to create a dual-booting device. To make things even sweeter, Microsoft is allegedly offering Windows Phone for free to the manufacturers, as in they are willing to drop the licensing fees, as well as pay for what adaptation costs they might incur along the way.
This offer extends not just to Windows Phone devices, but Windows RT as well. As it stands it seems that Samsung already has a dual-booting device called the Galaxy Tab 2014 Edition that runs both Android and Windows RT at the same time, so for OEMs to create devices like this would not be a stretch of the imagination. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but do you think OEMs such as Samsung and Huawei would be interested in this deal?

It wasn’t too long ago that Microsoft announced their plans to acquire Nokia’s cellphone business, and with the acquisition there were talks about how Microsoft would drop the Nokia branding from future devices, as well as the Lumia name as well. This is not surprising given that Microsoft is hoping to streamline its brand and its products. For those unfamiliar, the name Nokia is not only the name of a company in Finland, but is also the name of a town in Finland in the region of Pirkanmaa where there are actual signboards that read “Nokia”.
Well with the upcoming acquisition, assuming nothing goes wrong, the Nokia brand could eventually disappear and one prankster in Finland has decided to “celebrate” that by replacing signboards that read “Nokia” with “Microsoft”, as you can see in the photo above. We guess some people are taking the acquisition rather well, although we expect there are probably some diehard fans out there who are sad to see the brand go. We know we are, after all Nokia has put out some great feature phones in the past, like the 3310, which has managed to find its way into an internet meme as a handset that is durable enough to break down doors and destroy floors when dropped.

When it comes to smartphones with great cameras, only a handful of devices come to mind and one of them is the Nokia Lumia 1020. Ultimately it does boil down to personal preference but it seems when it comes to a majority vote, the Lumia 1020 wins. This is according to the folks at Phone Arena who have conducted a blind comparison poll between some of the big name phones out there. This included the HTC One, the LG G2, the iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S4, and the Nokia Lumia 1020. All photos were resized to 13MP with their EXIF data removed so users won’t be able to tell which phone took which photo.
The readers were then asked to choose which photo they thought looked best and according to the polls, the Nokia Lumia 1020 beat out the competition by a large margin, taking 62.19% of the votes! Samsung’s Galaxy S4 was in second place with 20.91% of the votes, followed by the iPhone 5s, the LG G2, the iPhone 5c, and finally the HTC One. It was an interesting test and if you’d like to see the rest of the test, hit up Phone Arena’s website for the details.

Without fail for the past few years, Apple has unveiled a new iPad, although the anomaly was back in 2012 where Apple not just one, but two iPads, along with the first ever iPad mini. What this means is that the timetable for the fifth-gen iPad has been shifted from early 2013 to late 2014.
Apple has yet to send out invites to their event, but the rumors are pointing at a possible 15th of October in which Apple will announce their new fifth-gen iPad and the iPad mini 2. With that being said, we have come across our fair share of leaks, rumors, and alleged specifications of the upcoming tablet, so without further ado, here is what we know of the fifth-gen iPad to date.

Come Tuesday, people should begin to see colorful newly redesigned $100 bills in circulation. This is good news for shops and businesses that need to verify the money and bad news for counterfeiters.
The Federal Reserve Board, which hasn’t been shuttered in the government shutdown, announced that the new Benjamin Franklins will make their debut chockfull of security features — most notably a blue 3D security ribbon and a color-changing image of the Liberty Bell.
The security ribbon is said to be easy for people to verify but difficult for counterfeiters to replicate. It’s a blue ribbon woven into the paper and when people tilt the bill back and forth, they’ll see images of bells change to “100s.” When the bill is tilted back and forth, the bells and 100s move side to side.
“The 3-D security ribbon is magic. It is made up of hundreds of thousands of micro-lenses in each note,” Bureau of Engraving and Printing Director Larry Felix told the Associated Press. “This is the most complex note the United States has ever produced.”
The Liberty Bell image in the inkwell also changes as users handle the money. While looking at the inkwell, pe… [Read more]

The dancing orange wisps of fire looks like choreographed chaos when seen in slow motion. It dances, it burns, it shines and it’s easy to get lost in it. But seeing burning fire is a lot different than actually holding it. The guys from Beyond Slow Motion used a nice little trick that never gets old to sprout fire from their bare hands. In slow motion.
