9 Female Book Characters Punished For Having Sex

Oh, double standards. Men have sex: no big deal. Women have sex: they get scorned, shunned, exiled, or willingly run over by a train. Women in literature have been getting punished for their lustful ways practically since the dawn of time (see: Adam and Eve).

Most of the men in the following books are never punished for engaging in relationships deemed socially inappropriate. Some do experience personal setbacks, but none are shunned publicly in the way that their female counterparts are.
While some of the women’s sexuality does not directly lead them to their untimely, unfortunate demises, we think that, had they not had these “sexual indiscretions,” they might have fared better in their books.

2 Percent Of Counties Account For The Majority Of Executions In America, Study Says

A mere two percent of the counties in the U.S. account for more than half of U.S. executions since 1976, a new study says.

These “high-use” counties — where capital punishment is aggressively utilized — result in “enormous expenses being passed on to taxpayers” due to the immense cost of housing, convicting, and ultimately putting inmates to death, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.

Since the death penalty was reinstated, all of the state executions that have taken place stem from cases in just 15 percent of the counties in the U.S., researchers found.

Purported iPad 5 Home Button Connector Cable Hints At Touch ID

Purported iPad 5 Home Button Connector Cable Hints At Touch ID

A much rumored feature of the iPhone 5s was its fingerprint sensor, which was made official when the smartphone was announced on September 10th. Since then, people have been wondering if Apple has any intentions of bringing the sensor over to other devices, and since iPads are next in line to be refreshed, the focus has been on the upcoming tablets. Apple is expected to unveil both new iPads later this month and the iPad 5 is expected to have Touch ID, the aforementioned fingerprint scanner. A purported home button connector cable of the next generation iPad has leaked online, it hints at the possibility of the tablet having the ability to read your fingerprint.

The report accompanying this leaked image suggests that the component has been completely redesigned and that it is quite similar to its counterpart in the flagship iPhone. It is on this similarity that the possibility of iPad 5 having Touch ID is based. As always, Apple is quiet about its future plans and has made no indication if its next tablet will bring a fingerprint scanner. The iPad 5 is expected to be a major update, it is likely to come with a new design after using the same one for nearly three years now. Would Apple go the extra mile and incorporate Touch ID in it as well? Time will tell. [Image via CTechCn]
