Best Buy Offering $50 Off iPhone 5c For A Limited Time

Best Buy Offering $50 Off iPhone 5c For A Limited TimeMany had wrongly assumed that the iPhone 5c would be Apple’s low-cost iPhone, and while the iPhone 5c is technically cheaper, it isn’t cheaper by that much meaning that it won’t exactly be the handset that will be breaking into emerging markets. In any case if you thought that the asking price of the iPhone 5c even on contract was a little too pricey for your tastes, you’re in luck because it seems that despite being on sale for only two weeks, retailer Best Buy has decided to throw in a $50 gift card along with the iPhone 5c which can actually be used towards the device, meaning that the phone, $99 on contract, can be yours for $49 instead.

This is a pretty good deal and the good news is that if you didn’t want to use the $50 gift card towards an iPhone 5c, Best Buy has stated that the card can be used on other devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 which retails for $199 on contract. This is a limited time offer so you best hurry if you want to cash in on this deal. According to Best Buy, this promotion is meant to drive traffic, specifically towards the iPhone 5c and the Galaxy S4, and given that $50 is a pretty big cut, which is almost half of the iPhone 5c’s price, it will no doubt help to boost sales.

    CyberNotes: Price Drop Notifications

This article was written on November 03, 2007 by CyberNet.

    CyberNotes
    Weekend Website

There are many stores out there that offer a 30 day price guarantee which means if the price goes down after you’ve bought it, they’ll refund you the difference. The problem with this is that you have to know that the price dropped in the first place before you can get a refund. But who has time to check prices everyday for products they’ve bought in the last 30 days? Luckily, there are several sites out there that are all about helping you save money and letting you know when the price has dropped.  Today we’ll be covering services offered by PriceProtectr and PriceGrabber, two sites that cover multiple retail stores.  We’ll also be covering RefundPlease which focuses solely on Amazon, as well as Kayak which will notify you if the price of an airline ticket has gone down so that you know when to buy it.

    PriceProtectr

PriceProtectr will check a stores’ website for price reductions for 30 days after you’ve purchased the product if they offer a 30 day price guarantee. It’s a fairly new service and they’re always adding new stores to their list.

    priceprotectr

Stores or services: In all, there are 58 supported sites. Some of them include (in alphabetical order):

Abercrombie & Fitch, Altrec.com, Amazon, Amazon Canada, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, American Eagle Outfitters, American Musical Supply, Ann Taylor, The Apple Store, Backcountry.com, Banana Republic, Barnes and Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Best Buy Canada, Bike Nashbar, BJ’s Wholesale Club, bloomingdale’s, Circuit City, Comp USA, Cooking.com, Costco, Costco Canada, Crutchfield, Fry’s Electronics, Future Shop, Gap, J&R Computer World, Jenson USA, J. Crew, KB Toys, Kohls, Lacks Home Furnishings, Lamps Plus, Linens ‘N Things, London Drugs, Lowes, Music123, Musicians’ Friend, Nordstrom, Office Depot, Office Max, Old Navy, Petco, Radio Shack, Rooms To Go, Sears, The Sharper Image, 6th Avenue Electronics, Staples, Staples Canada, Swim Outlet, Target, Tiffany Lamps, White House – Black Market, Zappos.com, zZounds

Type of Notifications: Email (they promise not to spam you!)

Good/Bad: They offer a wide variety of stores that they can watch for dropping prices, unfortunately they don’t have an RSS feature so that you can be notified by a method other than email. It’s simple and easy to use, and can save you quite a bit of money.

    RefundPlease.com

Much like PriceProtectr, RefundPlease.com is all about saving you money by notifying you when something you’ve purchased has gone down in price within 30 days of purchase. All you’ll need is the ISBN (of it’s a book) or the ASIN# for non-books, and they’ll be able to track the price of the item for you.

    refundplease

    Stores or services: Amazon only

    Type of Notifications: email

Good/Bad:The fact that they only offer this service for Amazon is disappointing, however the good news is that they plan to expand this service to include other online shopping retailers. Another great thing about this site is that they show you what the top five price changes were from the day prior.

    PriceGrabber.com

PriceGrabber is better known as a comparison shopping tool and a place to get merchant reviews, or get notified of rebates or find coupons, but it too has a great feature that can be used for Price Drop Notifications. You’ll have to have an account, but once you do, you can use the ‘set price alert’ feature. To use it as a price drop notification service, just find the product you bought, select to filter by merchant, and then set the target price to what you paid for it.  Once it drops below the price you paid for it, you’ll get an alert.
     set pricing alert

Stores or services: Many, many stores in categories like:

Applicances, Auto parts, Barbies & Kids, Books & Magazines, Cameras, Cell Phones, Plans, & Accessories, Clothing, Computers, Consumer Electronics, Flowers & Gourmet, Furniture, Health & Beauty, Indoor Living, Jewelry & Watches, Movies (DVD & VHS), Music, Musical Instruments, Office Products, Outdoor Living, Software, Sporting Goods, Toys, Video Games

    Type of Notifications:Email

Good/Bad: The good and bad happens to be their selection of merchants.  The list of supported merchants is HUGE, yet they’re lacking some of the major ones.

    Kayak

Kayak is best known as a travel search engine, but they offer so much more than just a search engine. One of their features called Fare “Buzz” is especially helpful because you can set a Maximmum Price for an airline ticket, and once it drops below that price, you’ll be notified so that you can go buy the tickets while they’re being sold at a great price.

    Stores or services: Airline Tickets

    Type of Notifications:Email

Good/Bad:You select how often you want an email – either weekly, daily (or never) for the fare alert feature, which is nice. It would be great to see them add a “buzz” feature (or a notification service) for some of the other travel options like a hotel, a cruise, a rental car, etc.

iPhone 5s Experiencing Inaccuracy With Its Motion Sensors

iPhone 5s Experiencing Inaccuracy With Its Motion SensorsIt seems that Apple’s iPhone 5s is being plagued by a number of issues, such as having its paint peel, along with reports that the built-in compass could be a little miscalibrated as well. It turns out that is not the only thing that has been miscalibrated as there are increasing reports of iPhone 5s users complaining that the phone’s motions sensors aren’t working the way they are supposed to, which led to Gizmodo running a battery of tests of their own which led them to a similar conclusion where it was found that a variety of sensors built into the iPhone 5s are a bit off.

The tests they ran tested the phone’s inclinometer and gyroscope, both of which reported varying levels of inaccuracy. In fact in one instance while playing the Real Racing video game, the car in the game managed to steer itself to the left despite the fact that the phone was placed flat on the table! This is pretty bad news for Apple as it is possible that this could be a hardware issue, especially since the levels of inaccuracy are different for everyone, meaning that it might not necessarily be a software problem.

It has been speculated that perhaps Apple will release an update that will recalibrate the motion sensors within the phone, and it is highly doubtful that Apple will issue a recall. In any case Apple has yet to make an announcement to acknowledge the problem, but with all the attention it has been getting, hopefully we will hear something soon.

BlackBerry Z30 Will Not Be Offered By Rogers

BlackBerry Z30 Will Not Be Offered By RogersGiven that Rogers is a Canadian carrier, and with BlackBerry being a Canadian company, you would have expected that both companies would lend their support to one another as fellow countrymen, but unfortunately it does not look like that will be the case. While Rogers has typically stocked up on high-end BlackBerry devices, like they did with the BlackBerry Z10, Q10, and even the low-end Q5, it has been reported that the carrier will not be carrying the company’s latest BlackBerry Z30. It is unclear as to why Rogers will not be stocking up on the Z30, but in a statement released by the carrier, “We believe we can fulfil our customers’ demand for a BlackBerry device with our current lineup”

Could Rogers’ decision be based on how BlackBerry has started down a rather slippery slope that they might have trouble climbing back up? In fact T-Mobile in the US has gone one step further by announcing that they will no longer stock BlackBerry phones in their stores, attributing poor sales as one of the reasons why. We’re not sure if Rogers feels the same way too, but in any case if you were hoping to pick up the handset with Rogers, you will need to look elsewhere.

Bissol’s Calibre iPhone Watch Attachments Are Classy, But Expensive

We’ve heard about how smartwatches like the Samsung Galaxy Gear will play nice with your mobile phone, but if you wanted something more integrated, Bissol has a pair of watches called the Calibre 2000 and Calibre 788Bissols Calibre iPhone Watch Attachments Are Classy, But Expensive that will literally integrate itself with your mobile device. Unfortunately if you were after all that hi-tech wizardry and have the ability to check your emails and messages, Bissol’s offering does not provide that, but if you wanted something a little more classy, then this could be worth checking out. As you can see in the image above, Bissol’s Calibre offering is basically a little add-on for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s, where you will be able to attach an actual working watch featuring Swiss movement to the bottom part of your iPhone device.

The mechanics of the watch have since been exposed and was designed to combine the intricacies of watchmaking along with modern technology, which we have to say they did a good job of doing so. They will come in colors that have been anodized to match the iPhone’s colors so it won’t look too out of place. We’re not sure if these are more novel than functional, but they do not come cheap as the Calibre 2000 is reportedly priced at $1,500.

There have been grumbles in the Applesphere since the iPhone 5s launch from some owners who have experienced problems with the handset’s onboard motion sensors, including the gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass. Google+ won’t take “no iOS sharing” for an answer

Apple may not want iPhone and iPad users sharing with Google+, but Google isn’t going to take that lying down: the search giant has cooked up a new sharing system for its iOS SDK which effectively works around Apple’s restrictive options. The new Google+ iOS SDK v1.4.0 now has an in-app share box, which third-party […]
