iPad 5 And iPad Mini 2 To Have 8 Megapixel Rear Camera [Analyst]

iPad 5 And iPad Mini 2 To Have 8 Megapixel Rear Camera [Analyst]

There’s no word from Apple as yet on when it intends on launching its new iPads. Nevertheless, rumors about these devices keep coming in. Analysts too periodically chime in with their predictions and today famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has made a prediction about the upcoming tablets. Kuo believes that Apple will still launch both iPads later this year, despite reports on the contrary, and that the company might substantially upgrade the camera on both tablets to boost it as a “selling point.”

Kuo predicts that the rear camera on iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, which is expected to come with a Retina display, might be upgraded from the current 5 megapixel iSight module to an 8 megapixel module. The camera module is said to have a larger aperture as well. It has consistently been rumored that Apple will unveil the new tablets this year. Recent rumors peg the announcement date on October 15th, but the company is yet to issue a confirmation. Other upgrades for the tablet include new color options and improved internal hardware package. Design changes are expected to be made to the iPad 5, which is believed to have a design similar to that of the iPad mini. No major design changes have been rumored as yet for the iPad mini 2.

    Create Ransom Notes Using Flickr

This article was written on October 22, 2006 by CyberNet.

    CyberNet Flickr Images

So you just stole your friends pocket protector and there is only one thing left to do…write a ransom note! You could sit there flipping through pages upon pages of magazine articles looking for letters to use or you could utilize the power of Flickr to do the dirty work!

Using “Spell with Flickr” you’ll see just how easy it is to make those ransom notes. It even gives you the necessary HTML code to post the letters on a website and Flickr is the one hosting the images.

This is extremely beneficial for those who are trying to find cool things to do with JavaScript and PHP. That is because the developer posted all of the source code so that you can read it and hopefully learn from it: PHP Source Code, JavaScript Source Code, and RSS Source Code.

Android 4.3 Test Build For Galaxy Note 2 N7100 Leaked

Android 4.3 Test Build For Galaxy Note 2 N7100 Leaked

Only yesterday we reported that a test build of Android 4.3 for Samsung Galaxy S4 had leaked online. Today, a similar test build has emerged for Galaxy Note 2. This is actually the first leaked of this kind for last year’s Note phablet. The existing phablet, Galaxy Note 3, already comes with Android 4.3 pre-installed. It is said that Samsung started testing Android 4.3 for Galaxy Note 2 just a week ago, so this is a very early test build. Only three test builds have reportedly been developed for Note 2 as of now, this is said to be one of them.

Do keep in mind that this is an unofficial release. Apart from that, its an early build, which means that not only will it not have any features or improvements that Samsung might add in later builds, it may also have numerous bugs that are yet to be squashed. So you probably might want to think twice before using this as your daily driver. Furthermore, it is advised that you create a backup of your data first before flashing this leaked ROM, just in case anything goes wrong, so that you don’t end up losing your data. Those who want to download Android 4.3 for Galaxy Note 2 build N7100XXUEMI6 can download it from the leak source.

Playing video games on Xi3’s Piston living room PC / game console

Playing video games on Xi3's Piston living room PC game console

The long-running distinction between dedicated game consoles and gaming PCs is disappearing with Valve’s announcement of its own operating system, SteamOS. The hardware is changing too, with next-gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony offering much more than the ability to play disc-based games, not to mention both being built on PC architecture (x86). And PC gaming has never been more friendly in the living room, between Steam’s Big Picture Mode and solid gamepad support for many games.

With one of Valve’s other announcements last week, Steam Machines finally put a name to the living room PC gaming initiative we’ve long heard about (what the press dubbed “Steambox“). Though we heard about Xi3’s Piston back at CES, and we knew about the company’s financial ties to Valve, it was unclear how tied its little modular gaming PC was to the initiative. Now, however, it’s more clear than ever: Xi3’s release date press release repeatedly describes the Piston as “the Piston Console,” meant to push up against the big three game console manufacturers. Sure, it costs $1,000 (and up), but it promises to handle modern PC games with aplomb. And it’s a tiny little box!

We caught up with Xi3 this week for a second look at the Piston game “console” — a custom version, for the game Loadout — and its first-party wireless controller. We also got a chance to actually play some games on the little box: the first time anyone outside of the company did as much, we’re told. Head past the break for our impressions.%Gallery-slideshow99844%

Rumor Has It: Nexus 5 could one up the Chromecast

Nokia has a little story to tell

This week’s show focuses on something that’s not Apple related. Imagine that.

A new log that was leaked from what is presumably the Nexus 5 confirms a million things that we already knew about the phone, but also gives us a little more information.

Facebook pulls a Twitter, and tries to convince TV networks that people “liking” TV shows on the site is a boon for ratings. The bottom line for Facebook? More ad dollars, of course.

And finally, Nokia might have a cool little app up its sleeve, called Storyteller.

Thanks for watching, and check out Rumor Has It’s YouTube channel.

iPad 5 tipped with 8MP camera, iPad mini 2 in short supply

With the next Apple event coming on quick, the folks at KGI have suggested that both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 will be coming with not just updated casings, but an updated back-facing camera too. The 5th generation iPad has been predicted to be appearing in bulk, so says KGI analyst Ming-Chi […]

Samsung reportedly not alone in cheating Android benchmarks

    Image

Samsung has come under fire this week for allegedly inflating the benchmark scores for the Galaxy Note 3 among other Android devices, but — shocker — the company is not alone in enhancing scores. AnandTech just published a report that shows ASUS, HTC and other companies using the same “benchmark detect” function to artificially bump up the numbers. According to the site, virtually all OEMs run a CPU optimization on at least one of their devices, save for Apple, Google’s Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 and Motorola’s latest crop of phones. Dishonesty aside, though, what’s the big to-do about these inflated scores? AnandTech found that companies notched less than a 10-percent performance boost in AnTuTu and Vellamo. And when’s the last time you based your smartphone purchase on benchmark scores alone, anyway?

Pac-Man Ghost Crocheted Throws Keep Your Wakka Wakka Warm

As the Starks used to say “Winter is Coming!” so you’d better start thinking about how you’re going to keep warm when Fall is over. You could freeze your bippy off, or you could cover it up with a ghost from Pac-Man.

pac man crochet blanket 1 620x396magnify

These handmade crocheted blankets from AtomicBits are just the thing to give you a little added warmth as you cozy up on the couch in front of your shiny new PS4 or XBone this holiday season.

pac man crochet blanket 2 620x472magnify

At a little over 2-feet-square, they’re actually a better size for a baby blanket, but you get the point. They still will look cool thrown on your bed or couch. Each one is made from anti-allergic Acrylic/Wool thread, and is perfect for any retro gaming fanatic. They’re currently available in red (Blinky) and orange (Clyde) versions, though I’m sure you could convince AtomicBits to make you an Inky, Pinky or blue ghost if you ask nicely.
