Sony Full-Frame NEX Announcement Rumored For 16 October

Sony Full Frame NEX Announcement Rumored For 16 OctoberOver the past few months, there have been heavy rumors regarding a Sony full-frame NEX camera, with some speculating that the camera (or cameras) could see an announcement during the month of October. Either way we guess we will need to wait and see if the rumors pan out, but in the meantime Sony Alpha Rumors has received a tip from a couple of their sources that it is possible that Sony could be taking the wraps off their new products come 16th of October, although that date might vary depending on which timezone you are in. The cameras expected to be announced include a NEX full-frame camera, and a NEX APS-C camera.

We had previously heard that Sony could be taking advantage of the PhotoPlus Expo to announce their products, but the expo is taking place on the 23-26th of October, which is obviously a different date from this rumor. Then again it has been rumored that there are multiple NEX cameras in the works, so perhaps Sony will announce different products at different times. Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’re only a couple of weeks away from the 16th of October so it shouldn’t be too long before we see if the rumors come true! In the meantime who else is looking forward to a full-frame NEX camera?

Microsoft Claims “Most Inspiring Company” Title

Microsoft Claims Most Inspiring Company TitleWith Apple claiming titles such as the most valuable company (back in 2012, at least) and recently dethroning Coca Cola to become the best global brand, it certainly looks like they’re sticking it to the competition, but interestingly enough Apple did not manage to beat Microsoft when it comes to claiming the “Most Inspiring Company” title. According to a new study conducted by consulting firm, Performance Inspired, Microsoft has managed to nab the number one spot in the US. This is according to a survey which had 5,000 participants who were asked to name five companies they believe were inspirational, and why.

This is not Microsoft’s first win as they won the title three years ago, but it’s nice to see them reclaiming it despite some hiccups along the way. According to the survey, other tech companies on the list (top 25) include Google at number 7, Amazon at number 8, and Apple at number 12. Performance Inspired believes that customers who are inspired by a company will tend to spend more with those companies, while encouraging others to do so as well. What do you guys think? Do you think Microsoft deserves the number one spot, again?

Virgin Mobile Will Offer News iPhones $100 Cheaper Than Retail

Virgin Mobile Will Offer News iPhones $100 Cheaper Than RetailApple’s iPhones tend to be priced at premium prices, possibly because Apple knows that what they sell are hot ticket items and customers are more than willing to pay for them. However if you’re thinking about picking up the new iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c but think that the asking price is a bit more than you would like, you’re in luck because Virgin Mobile in the US has announced that they will start selling the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c at their stores, and even better news is that they will be priced $100 less compared to Apple’s advertised prices.

However it should be noted that these price are for the off-contract phones, meaning that if you wanted to get them on contract you’d have to pay what everyone else is paying, but for those who don’t want to be tied to a contract, this could be a good deal. What this means is that customers will be able to purchase the iPhone 5s starting from $550, with the iPhone 5c starting at $450. It is unknown as to how long this offer will last but if you wanted to cash in on this deal, you better move quick, especially when you take into account how the iPhones have been selling like hotcakes even without the $100 discount.

Sharp Health Care Support Chair Is Actually The Emperor 1510

Sharp Health Care Support Chair Is Actually The Emperor 1510[CEATEC 2013] No wonder it looks so familiar! Remember Sharp’s Health Care Support Chair that we talked about a couple of days ago? Well, I have just been reminded that it is something which we have talked about just as recent as in June this year, where the chair is actually the Emperor 1510. Now that we do realize the chair itself costs a whopping $21,500, I guess it would not matter too much if your home carried the chair, as surely Sharp’s very own intelligent blood pressure monitor as well as other sensors that take down the details of your vital statistics would not cost more than the Emperor 1510 chair itself.

The Emperor 1510 is actually manufactured by MWE Labs that is based in Canada, and it is nice to see the chair being able to be used in different practical applications. I guess the onus remains on the medical as well as research community to come up with something that will be able to benefit the rest of mankind, and hopefully in due time, the price of the chair itself will drop to more manageable levels Alternatively, if you want your blood pressure to remain low, live healthily, get plenty of exercise, eat the right stuff, and of course, remain joyful at all times. Then you won’t need such a fancy chair, but rather, a simple blood pressure monitor would do.

FCC aims to fine five wireless carriers $14 million for Lifeline program violations

FCC aims to fine five wireless carriers $14 million for Lifeline program violations

Government shutdown or not, the Federal Communications Commission announced a proposal to fine five cellular service providers a total of $14.4 million for violating the rules of its Lifeline phone subsidy program. In case your memory needs to be jogged, Lifeline allows economically disadvantaged people to get subsidized cellphone service through carriers. Assist Wireless, Easy Wireless, Icon Telecom, TracFone Wireless and UTPhone are all in Uncle Sam’s crosshairs for allegedly giving multiple subsidized accounts to folks who should have only received one through the program. This development comes after the commission’s revelation that 41 percent of last year’s subsidies didn’t go through the appropriate verification process. The FCC’s sanctions don’t stop at the multi-million dollar penalty either. If the federal body gets its way, cash collected through duplicate accounts will have to be returned by offending companies.

Companies Reportedly Dropping BlackBerry In Favor Of Windows Phone

Companies Reportedly Dropping BlackBerry In Favor Of Windows PhoneLast we heard, there is a good chance that BlackBerry will be bought out by Fairfax for a cool $4.7 billion, and the company is expected to be taken private, although that number could be less now after the price per share has been dropped to $5. In any case this is hardly the end of the company as they are merely being taken private, presumably to sort out their problems before coming back stronger than ever, we hope, but in the meantime there are others who feel differently and are abandoning ship. Half-Life 3 Trademark Filed In Europe

Half Life 3 Trademark Filed In EuropeWe have been hearing many rumors about Valve’s Half-Life 3 game for a while now, with some gamers vehemently believing that Valve was leaving them clues about the game in other games, and this is despite Valve having denied Half-Life 3 rumors. In any case the status of the game remains a complete mystery, but here’s something that should get fans pretty excited: Valve has filed for a trademark for Half-Life 3. The trademark filing was done in Europe at the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, essentially Europe’s trademark and designs registry.

According to the filing, the Half-Life 3 trademark is owned by Valve but was filed on behalf of the company by Casalonga & Associes, a patent and trademark firm, with the trademark covering “computer game software”, “downloadable computer game software via a global computer network and wireless devices”, and other goods and services. The trademark was filed on the 29th of September but as it stands, there is no equivalent filing in the USPTO. While this definitely looks promising, the alternative is that it does not necessarily mean that the game is in the works, but rather it could mean that Valve is trying to protect its Half-Life franchise from being used by someone else.

Either way hopefully Valve will have an official statement on the matter soon, but what do you guys think? Are you excited?

Here's How to Check If the Apple Store Has an iPhone 5S in Stock

As it seems to go every year, iPhone inventory is depleted from the Apple Store. You have to sift through wooden shelves for a single speck of a goldpagne iPhone 5S, pray to the angels for a white 5S and… well, you can actually get a ‘space gray’ iPhone anywhere you want. If you want to save your self a disappointing trip to the Apple Store though, developer Mordy Tikotzky made a nifty tool for you to check iPhone 5S inventory online at iPhone-Check.
