Nebraska Football Coach Bo Pelini: ‘If They Want To Fire Me, Go Ahead’

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Bo Pelini says he hasn’t been told if he’ll return for a seventh season as Nebraska’s head coach and that he isn’t spending any time worrying about it.

“If they want to fire me, go ahead,” Pelini told reporters after the Cornhuskers’ 38-17 loss to Iowa on Friday to finish the regular season 8-4. “I believe in what I’ve done. I don’t apologize to you. I don’t apologize to anybody, myself or this staff. My record, our record since I’ve been here, speaks for itself. And this program is heading in a good direction.

Suspect In Homeless Serial Killings Was Killed By Ajax: Lawyer

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A former Marine who was awaiting trial in the deaths of six people, including four homeless men, died after ingesting Ajax in his jail cell, his lawyer said Friday.

Itzcoatl (ihts-KWAH’-tehl) Ocampo, 25, apparently accumulated the cleaning product over time while in custody, said his attorney, Michael Molfetta, who was briefed on the death. The incident raises serious questions about how well Orange County jail deputies were supervising Ocampo, who had mental health issues, Molfetta said.

Sony suspends PlayStation promo code support following network trouble (update)

No PSN code redemption for you, come back one year

Sony’s PSN woes aren’t over just yet. The company has temporarily stopped taking PlayStation promo codes following a surge in traffic on the gaming service; for the moment, money cards and game vouchers won’t work. There’s no estimate for when code redemption will return. It’s easy to see the potential causes, however. Between the weekend, the PlayStation 4’s European launch and a big discount on PlayStation Plus subscriptions at Amazon, there’s guaranteed to be a deluge of PSN activity — Sony may have unintentionally created a perfect storm.

Update (12/1/13): According to the PlayStation Europe Blog, Sony is “continually increasing the availability of the voucher redemption functionality,” so you should see it soon if it’s not on your system already. The next step, which we should hear more about tomorrow, is to switch on the What’s New activity feed and Live Item in the Content Information Screen for users outside North America.

PanoPal Smartphone Stand will help you get the perfect panoramic shot

PanoPal
Thanks to the fairly decent quality of camera that most smartphones possess, there are millions of photos and videos cropping up daily on various social media sites. Many of these are shot on the fly, without little care to the full quality of the photo. Just because you can slap an Instagram filter on it doesn’t mean it’s good. Possibly one of the hardest photos to get on a phone is a panoramic one.

You have to turn at a constant speed, and keep your hand as steady as a rock. Otherwise you’re going to have a very trippy photo that won’t look at all what you had pictured in your mind. The PanoPal Smartphone Stand is for those who take smartphone photography seriously. It’s literally a stand that will rotate your phone for you at just the right speed. No need to worry about shaky hands any longer!

This works best on a flat surface, but can be held if you’re not in a conducive situation. There are four preset speeds choose from, and it can go clockwise or counter clockwise. There is a remote, so those of you who want to set up a photo a bit more can still be in on the action without having to snap the photo yourself. This charges via micro USB, and will hold up for around five hours. The Bluetooth remote will connect to your smartphone through Bluetooth, and can control your music as well as snap photos for you. This will cost you around $45 for both the stand and remote, and you’ll be able to choose between a black, silver, blue and pink casing.

Available for crowdfunding via Kickstarter

Walmart Wage Protest Leads To Arrest Of Man Dressed Like Santa

These days it’s not so easy to tell if Santa’s being naughty or nice.

A protest on behalf of Walmart workers in Ontario, Calif., led to the arrest of up to 10 people Friday, among them Karl Hilgert, who dressed up as Santa Clause for the event, according to The San Bernardino Sun. The protest was one of around 1,500 planned nationwide Friday accusing Walmart of providing employees unfair wages and working hours. The matter is serious for those protesting, but Hilgert’s attire did make for a more amusing photo opportunity:
