The $299 Blu Life Pro is aimed at the selfie set with a 5-megapixel front cam

LIFE PRO by BLU. (PRNewsFoto/BLU Products)

When we first spotted the decently spec’d Blu Life series, it seemed like a nice Android handset option for folks on a budget. However, the times they have a-changed, and the former KIRF company’s latest device, the Blu Life Pro, is now looking decidedly less cheap. Spec-wise, it’s packing a 720P screen, quad-core 1.5GHz MediaTek CPU, Android 4.2, HSPA+ 3G, 1GB RAM, 16GB of memory and a 12-megapixel BSI camera with 1080p video. At $299, it’ll have to go up against plenty of similarly-priced and technologically superior rivals, but the one feature that distinguishes the Blu from the rest is its 5-megapixel, 1080p front-facing camera with a BSI sensor. Nevertheless, given the option between this and a much cheaper 720p phone like the spiffy Moto G, our vanity probably does know some bounds.

Confectionery Company Will Print Your Instagram Photos As Marshmallows

Confectionery Company Will Print Your Instagram Photos As MarshmallowsIf you have been using smartphones and have internet, chances are you might have heard of Instagram, a popular photo sharing service/community where people from around the world gather to share photos of their food (amongst other things). While for the most part Instagram filters help to cover up bad photography and bad lighting/exposure, there are some pretty amazing photos out there and we have seen instances where one can even print their Instagram photo, and not just as a regular photo, but even in chocolate form as well! Well if you’re looking for more edible Instagram prints, Boomf is a company you might be interested in checking out.

Based in the UK, the company will basically print your Instagram photos for you but on marshmallows, meaning not only can you take a photo of your photo, but you can eat it as well, and then print that if you wanted! Boomf is currently charging about $19 for a box of nine marshmallows which is admittedly pretty pricey for candy, but hey if anything we think this makes for a great present or a great door gift for people coming to your birthday/wedding/etc. For more information just hit up Boomf’s website for the details! Now onto the question we never we’d ask, but are your photos as tasty as they look?

The Robot Girl iPhone Dock Is Creepy And Expensive

iPhone docks come in all shapes and sizes, but we reckon the Robot Girl iPhone dock probably takes the cake. Basically the Robot Girl iPhone dock is a 46” tall robot that has been shaped and designed to look like a robotic woman, and there are gaps and openings all over her body where LED lights are emitted and even pulsated whenever music is played. The head of the Robot Girl will even bop slightly when music is played and given her overall stance, it almost looks like she could be a model walking down a very futuristic runway.

The good news is that if you love robots and wouldn’t mind getting your hands on the Robot Girl, its creator Mark Ricci has put it up on sale on eBay where the starting bid is set at a whopping $6,500. There is a Creative D80 Wireless Bluetooth speaker embedded in the robot, so not only is this a dock for your iPhone, but will also act as a speaker. It does not mention if it charges your iPhone at the same time or which generation iPhone it works with, but presumably with its Bluetooth connectivity, it should play nicely with most devices that support Bluetooth. It’s a little creepy but cool at the same time, but would you want to have this in your living room?

AT&T To Drop U-verse Support For The Xbox 360

AT&T To Drop U verse Support For The Xbox 360Xbox 360 gamers who use their consoles for AT&T’s U-verse might be interested to learn that the carrier has announced that after the 31st of December 2013, AT&T will be ending support for the service.  According to AT&T, “A previous communication referenced that you would need to purchase an Xbox 360 Gold membership for your Xbox 360 to work with U-verse service. We were planning to issue a $60 bill credit to cover that cost. We will now be issuing a $99 bill credit, which includes the $60, on your U-verse bill within one to two billing cycles.”

For those unfamiliar, AT&T’s U-verse service basically offered gamers broadband internet, IP telephone, and IPTV services. It launched back in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and basically allowed gamers to use their existing console as a television receiver. AT&T has also informed the folks at Polygon that the service was cancelled due to low customer demand, which means that if you just got yourself a new Xbox One console and were hoping that maybe AT&T would offer U-verse support for the next-gen console, well it looks like you’d be out of luck. So, any Xbox 360 U-verse gamers bummed by this piece of news?

How to Clean Up Your Desktop

This article was written on October 30, 2009 by CyberNet.

Is your desktop the digital equivalent of a gigantic stack of unsorted stuff? Perhaps it’s time then to cut through the clutter once and for all and get everything cleaned up. In this article, we’ll help you make it look organized again step by step and advise you on how to keep it that way.

Step 1: delete files you don’t need
Although this is an obvious step, it is essential to the process of cleaning up your desktop. If you’re a big software downloader, chances are that you’ve piled up quite a bit of installers. Go through all of your files and delete the ones you no longer need. Do the same with your shortcuts. A lot of applications drop a shortcut on your desktop you don’t use anyway. If you find yourself using the Start Menu or the Quick Launch bar instead of clicking shortcuts on your desktop, just get rid of them.

Step 2: group files that belong together in folders
Try to put files that have something to do with each other in folders as much as you can. You may discover that some of the folders you’ve created can be grouped together in a folder of themselves. Using folders, you can drastically lower the amount of icons on your desktop.

Step 3: move the folders you’ve just created to My Documents
Storing documents on your desktop is not a good idea if you want to keep the number of icons down. An exception to this rule are temporary documents. In some cases it’s better to leave them on your desktop to remind you that they have yet to be processed. As for the rest of your files: move your newly created folders off your desktop and into My Documents. If you need quick access to some folders, optionally create a shortcut to them but remember to keep the amount of shortcuts to a minimum.

Step 4: download Fences to create groups of files
Back in February, Ryan wrote about a useful little tool from Stardock that allows you to group files on your desktop together. What’s even cooler about this nifty piece of freeware is that it will let you double-click your desktop (or press Escape) to hide all your icons. My advice is to always have this so-called quick-hide mode enabled, except for one or two essential groups that contain stuff like the Recycle Bin or shortcuts to folders you use often. To prevent Fences from hiding a group you’d like to be visible in quick-hide mode, right-click it, go to View and click ‘Exclude this Fence from quick-hide’.

    Done!
There you go, your desktop should look a lot cleaner now. In the future, remember to move or delete files on your desktop asap to keep it as clean as possible. Not only does it give you the chance to rediscover your wallpaper, but your files will be more organized too.

Battlefield 4 Battlepack Print Plated In Gold Will Cost You $2,500

Battlefield 4 Battlepack Print Plated In Gold Will Cost You $2,500

We know that there are times when in-game items can be worth a lot of money in real life, and we have seen instances where MMORPG accounts, such as World of Warcraft, have been sold for a few hundred dollars. However what you are paying for is something you can actually use, like a new weapon, a new armor set, and etc., but would you ever pay $2,500 for a gold battlepack from Battlefield 4? Actually to be more specific, would you pay that much money for a rendering of the battlepack that you can’t actually use in game? Because that’s what art dealers Cook & Becker are selling.

The art dealer is currently selling off some concept art from the game, and alongside that concept art, they are also selling off a high resolution render of the battlepack from the game that has been “embellished and gilded” in 24-carat gold. If we understand correctly, you are essentially paying for a gold-plated painting. We suppose in a way the rendering is kind of minimalist and has a certain quality to it especially when placed in a setting such as the one above, but at the same time asking $2,500 for it does border on ridiculous. What do you guys think?

Microsoft Releases New Surface 2 Ad Targeting The iPad Air

Microsoft seems to be on a roll these days when it comes to poking fun at their competition. Earlier we saw how Microsoft’s Scroogled campaign dismissed the Google Chromebook as a proper laptop, and now we are seeing how Microsoft is taking yet another shot at Apple’s iPads, comparing the company’s own Surface 2 tablet against it. We suppose it’s become common knowledge that the iPad does not sport the same hardware features as the Surface 2, namely how it does not come with USB ports, nor is there an option to purchase a cover with a keyboard attached to it (you’d have to go for third party options), and also how there is no HDMI output on the iPad either.

These are pretty much the points that Microsoft is trying to make against the iPad Air and to be fair, these are valid arguments. However at the end of the day it really boils down to a variety of factors, such as pricing, availability of apps, ecosystem, overall feel, and etc. In any case this attempt by Microsoft follows hot on the heels of Nokia’s own ad where it compares the company’s recently release Lumia 2520 tablet against the iPad Air as well.
