And you have to give their maker credit, she could have just posted the photo online, basked in all of our adoration and kept the recipe for herself while she sold them, raking in the Rupees. But no. She has given the world the recipe on her blog so that we can all make them and enjoy.

Nokia Lumia 520 Continues To Dominate The Windows Phone Market

Nokia Lumia 520 Continues To Dominate The Windows Phone MarketIt’s safe to say that Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform is best represented by none other than Nokia, who according to the latest figures, has managed to dominate about 90% of the Windows Phone market worldwide, and according to the figures, it looks like this is largely thanks to the Nokia Lumia 520, a seemingly low-mid ranged device that surprisingly turned out to be a pretty huge hit. Back in August we had reported that the Lumia 520 accounted for the majority of Nokia Lumia devices out there, but according to the latest figures, it looks like that number might have gone up a bit.

The figures released by AdDuplex shows that the Lumia 520 commands about 26.5% of the market at the moment, but when you combine it with T-Mobile’s Lumia 521, which is essentially a Lumia 520 variant, that number could be around 29.9%, which is like saying that a third of all Windows Phone devices used at the moment are that of the Lumia 520 family! Unsurprising given that last we checked, the Lumia 521 was actually the most used Windows Phone in the US. What do you guys think? Anyone else surprised that Nokia’s higher-end devices aren’t doing as well as their low-end ones?

BiblioTech Is The US’ First Bookless Public Library

BiblioTech Is The US First Bookless Public LibraryLibraries for the most part contain books, actual physical books, although with technology becoming more integrated into our lives, libraries have introduced computers and to a certain extent, e-books as well, but it looks like the BiblioTech library in San Antonio, Texas, is looking to shake things up as it is the first and only public bookless library in America. This was the brainchild of Bexar County Judge, Nelson Wolff, who ironically enough is a collector of first-print editions books, and at one point in time also pushed for a print-only library.

The BiblioTech project reported cost $2.4 million and according to Wolff, it costs less than traditional libraries to operate since it does require a lot less space and fewer workers as well. The library will loan out e-readers to its visitors, permit downloads from home, as well as offer classes related to technology on-site as well. There are also tablets and a space for children to use them while visiting the library. So far the downside to this idea is that there aren’t that many popular titles available at the moment, simply because publishers are reportedly charging too much for e-books. According to Wolff, “It probably is a little bit ahead of its time […] We can’t get every book that we want in an e-format. And we are paying more for them.”

Microsoft’s New Scroogled Campaign Targets Chromebooks

It’s no secret that Microsoft and Google don’t particularly like each other, especially when Microsoft launched their Scroogled campaign whereby they poke fun at a number of Google products. This ranges from Gmail, to Google Docs, to Chrome, and the latest being Google’s Chromebooks which are essentially laptops running Chrome OS instead of your more typical Windows. In the latest Scroogled campaign, Microsoft has hired Rick Harrison and Richard “The Old Man” Harrison of reality TV show fame, Pawn Stars.

The ad basically shows a young lady coming into their shop trying to pawn off a Chromebook so she can go to Hollywood, but unfortunately Rick turns her down laughing, stating that without an internet connection, the Google Chromebook is essentially a brick. He goes on to slag other aspects of Google, saying that by using Chromebooks, it allows Google to spy on you and use your data for more targeted advertising. Granted a good deal of Chrome OS’s functionality requires internet connectivity, but lately there has been support for offline use, especially for those looking for productivity such as Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and etc.

In any case it certainly looks like Microsoft is stepping up their Scroogled campaign and if you have a few minutes to spare, perhaps this is a vide you’ll want to watch, just for some laughs.

The Rise of the Aerial Commuter: When Will We All Be Flying to Work?

Last month, a blog post by Sam Cookney captured the imagination of anyone who pays a little too much money for the convenience of living near work. He reasoned that, for the same price he paid for his one-bedroom London flat, he could live in a three-bedroom flat near the beach in Barcelona and fly to work in London four days a week. And he’d still have 387 Euros left over at the end of the month.

‘Touchless’ Chrome’s here: Prepare for more search shouting

Search for folks who aren't so touchy-feely.

    (Credit: Google)

It’s bound to happen to someone this holiday season. You’re up to your elbows in a Thanksgiving (or Hanukkah) turkey’s chest cavity when you’re hit by a nagging feeling that you’ve forgotten a key part of the recipe. Most of us would have to spend the next five minutes scrubbing bird innards off our hands and then drying them off enough to check the recipe without dirtying the screen or keyboard. Until now.

As of Tuesday, Chrome users can keep their mitts all up in that bird’s business and simply shout a search for “super easy and intrusive Thanksgiving turkey recipe” across the room at their browser. So long as you’ve got a new Chrome extension installed, all you need to do is give the “OK, Google” command that will be familiar to users of Google Now on Android devices followed by your search or question.
