Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you’re unlucky enough to have a new Xbox One with an optical drive that makes a lot of grinding noises and doesn’t read games properly, Microsoft will give you a free game—as well as fixing the problem!
As gamers might recall, it was only just before the Xbox One was scheduled for released that we started hearing complaints from some gamers on how their Xbox One’s Blu-Ray disc driver started to emit some strange grinding noises when a disc was inserted. We’re still not sure what the problem is, but thankfully Microsoft has since offered to replace these units as well as throw in a free game to appease gamers who might have been affected by the issue. However for those who do have these faulty units and are waiting on their replacements, a video has surfaced where it shows that the age old trick of slapping your computer, or Xbox One in this case, works.
According to the poster of the video, this method was apparently taken off some forum and he proceeds to demonstrate that it actually works. This involves flipping the Xbox One around and hitting it a few times around the area where the Blu-Ray disc is located. Apparently some gear is not aligned within the Xbox One, hence the weird grinding noises. Surprisingly this worked and while we’re not sure if this is a permanent solution or if it will work for everyone, perhaps you could give it a go, although we strongly advice against it since there could be other components you could damage in the process. Anyone else can confirm that this works for them?

Heads up Assassin’s Creed fans, if you enjoyed Ubisoft’s latest swashbuckling adventure in the form of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, you might be interested to learn that Ubisoft will be bringing the pirate adventure onto your mobile devices (both iOS and Android) in the form of Assassin’s Cred Pirates. Unfortunately this is not an extension of the game for console, but will instead just share a similar play setting, which we guess could be fun in its own right as well. The game will focus on naval battles and will star naval captain Alonzo Batilla.
The game will require players to enlist a crew for the ship and will battle for treasure, with the ultimate goal being La Buse’s treasure. Along the way they will encounter other pirates, assassins, and Templars. Originally announced back in September this year, The game will be seeing a release on the 5th of December and will be priced at $4.99 for both iOS and Android devices. In the meantime if you’re wondering what sort of game you will be getting your hands on, be sure to check out the trailer above for an idea of what to expect. So, who else is looking forward to getting their hands on the game?

When you game on a device, doesn’t matter whether it’s on a PC, a laptop, a tablet, or a smartphone, it can get pretty intensive and it will consume more resources compared to checking your email. This means that there are times when your device gets a bit hot (PCs and laptops have the advantage of having cooling systems to help counteract this problem), and it seems that Microsoft’s Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 tablets have been experiencing overheating, which Microsoft has since reassured owners of either tablet that an update is expected to be issued soon that will correct that issue.
According to the reports, users are claiming that their screens are suddenly dimming for no reason, but apparently this is due to overheating in which the BIOS attempts to dim the display to try and cool the unit, with some customers thinking that they might have a defective unit. Microsoft has released a statement saying, “We’re working on a tuning update that will remove this unnecessary dimming event. You can expect this update in an upcoming Windows Update package. In the meantime allow the Surface to cool down for a minute or so in order to return the screen to previous brightness levels.” Any Surface 2 or Surface Pro 2 owners experiencing said overheating with their devices?

On “Castle,” Rick and Kate became parents! Okay, it was just a temporary thing as the couple became foster parents to a baby involved in a case, but it was a good trial run. When it came time for the baby to go, Kate admitted that she was going to miss him.
“Well, who knows? Maybe in a few Thanksgivings from now, we’ll have a couple Bennys of our own running around,” Rick replied.
“Hey, if you guys have kids in a few years, and I have kids in a few years, they can grow up together!” Alexis chimed in.

Good news Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition owners, it looks like if you have a hankering for some Android 4.4 KitKat action, you’re in luck because according to the Android Google+ page, it looks like the update is being rolled out as we speak. This Android 4.4 KitKat update will be rolled out alongside the HTC One Google Play Edition and if these updates are anything like how Google rolls out Android updates for their Nexus devices, expect it to be pushed out in phases that could span days to even weeks before it is your turn.
If anything we suppose this is the benefit of having a Google Play Edition phone which is the next best thing after owning a Nexus device. For those who might have missed the news, the Google Play Editions of the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are essentially the same devices as their normal counterparts, with the main exception being that they run stock versions of Android as opposed to the skinned versions, like TouchWiz for Samsung and Sense for HTC. While they might not necessarily get the latest updates as quick as Nexus phones, we reckon it’s still fast enough. If you own either device and have received the update, let us know in the comments below!
