It’s a lovely thing when a chorus of voices comes together to perform that Christmas classic, Carol of the Bells. But hey, who needs humans? This season’s audio-visual holiday card from the Glasgow School of Art is an electronic masterpiece, bringing together a selection of vintage Mac computers, a Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum + 1, and a SEGA Mega Drive to make beautiful music together.
Christmas is as much about tradition as it is finding new ways to celebrate the holidays with your family. So instead of curling up with A Christmas Story, Scrooged, or It’s a Wonderful Life tonight, why not consider the Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special, which is now free to watch until January 12 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Yeah, that’s right—it’s 25 years old.

I used to use the standard Windows Notepad for a lot of different things until someone made me aware of Notepad++. It is a light text editor that is a great replacement for the Notepad that comes with Windows. It does everything from syntax highlighting for many of the popular programming languages all the way to letting you view two files side-by-side.
If you love to have a bunch of text files open then you’ll love this even more. Notepad++ has a built-in tab system to help reduce the clutter in your taskbar. It seems like everything is getting tabs so your text reader shouldn’t be any different, right?
Here is a list of what’s new in Notepad++ 3.9:
- Remember the bookmarks, zoom level and visibilities of white space/EOL characters in each saved session.
- Add the capacity to clear read only attribute.
- Fix the reload bug for read-only file.
- Add the capacity to write the files which have the system attribute.
- Backup file on each save (optional : verbose mode & normal mode).
- Add the close button for each tab like Opera (optional).
- Add double click on tab to close document feature (optional).
- Add word completion (Alt+Space) feature.
- Fix the line number margin display bug.
- Add Opera style task list tab switcher (Ctrl+Tab or Mouse Right Click + Mouse Wheel).
- Add Ada, Caml, AutoIt, KixTart, Matlab, Verilog language support.
- Add TeX folding support.

Oh, the lowly box. It spends most of the year being broken down, stashed away and pulped, but one day a year, it gets its moment to shine (at least in the UK and various Commonwealth Nations). Consider the ShoeboxCNC a continued celebration of the …
It’s true! This is all I want for Christmas. I don’t want socks. Nope. All I want is a shiny new Moog. Santa, please?
When it comes to virtual reality headsets, the most popular name at the moment would be the Oculus Rift, but it looks like Sony could be looking to steal its thunder come CES 2014 with a virtual reality headset of their own. The headset was rumored to make a debut at the Tokyo Game Show 2013, but safe to say it did not materialize, and now if the rumors are to be believed, and if Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida’s tweets are any indication, said headset could debut at CES 2014.
Yoshida’s tweet was a response to IGN executive editor’s Scott Lowe’s tweet where he posted a photo of a virtual reality headset, claiming that it was the best thing to come out of CES 2011, a good two years ago. Yoshida’s tweet while not confirming anything, states that we can expect to see a newly announced product at CES 2014. This has led to speculation that a Sony VR headset could debut at the event, after all why would Yoshida respond to a tweet if said product was unrelated, right?
In any case it’s pretty much up in the air at the moment, but as we will be live at CES 2014, be sure to check back with us then for all the details. We could be looking at a prototype, or we could be looking at a brand new product, but either way exciting times are ahead of us!

Earlier this year, Square Enix registered a trademark for the Lara Croft: Reflections name. Unfortunately at that time, it was unknown as to what the title could be about, save for the fact that it could be Tomb Raider-related. Some have speculated that the game could be a Tomb Raider game designed for the Nintendo 3DS or the PS Vita, but as it turns out, Lara Croft: Reflections is in reality a free-to-play card game, presumably joining the likes of Blizzard’s Hearthstone, which is also a free-to-play card game that is based on the Warcraft franchise.
As it stands, Lara Croft: Reflections is being tested in Australia and New Zealand at the moment, although we’re not sure if there are plans to bring it to the US and other parts of the world once the testing is complete, but presumably it will and will most likely make its way stateside come 2014. Like we said this is a free-to-play card game meaning that while the game is free to download, chances are Square Enix will be charging gamers for in-game purchases. In any case if you’re wondering what’s in store for you when the game is released, you can check out the preview video above that was put together by the folks at TouchGameplay.
