Trekkie Decorates Entire House in Star Trek Theme: Home, The Final Frontier

I’ve seen some really cool Star Trek themed gear and even rooms over the years. If you are a fan of the original series, you might appreciate the décor in the home of Line Rainville. She has been a fan of the original Star Trek series since her youth.

When she grew up and got her own house, she went about decorating it in a Star Trek theme. The project started as a Trek themed home theater in the basement and grew from there. The house now has parts of Spock’s room, the bridge, and even a transporter platform. Some items in the home are purchased props, while others were created from scratch.

trek house 6 300x250
trek house 7 300x250

I’ll say much of the décor looks like 60′s and 70′s resale furniture to me, then again I am not a fan of the original series. I am definitely more Picard than Kirk. Regardless, the overall effect will make some Star Trek fans jealous for sure. The entire project cost her about $30,000 to accomplish and over a year of work.

Samsung’s Metal Smartphone Rumored To Launch With Galaxy S5

Samsungs Metal Smartphone Rumored To Launch With Galaxy S5

Time and again it has been rumored that Samsung is working on a smartphone that will tout a metal body. Initially it was believed that the Galaxy S5 will have a metal body, but rumor has it that Samsung is going to stick with plastic this time around as well. It is believed that the company is developing a premium line of smartphones under the Galaxy F branding which will feature a metal build. As per the latest reports coming in from Korea, it is likely that the company might launch two smartphones together in 2014, the Galaxy S5 as well as the premium Galaxy F smartphone.

There’s obviously no confirmation from Samsung at this point in time, so these rumors should still be taken with a grain of salt. It is claimed that Samsung expanded its manufacturing operations to Vietnam just to build metal smartphones, which is why some believe none of the company’s usual partners are involved in this project. It isn’t known when the Galaxy S5 is due, rumor has it that the smartphone might be released earlier than originally planned. This is certainly not the last time we will be hearing about Samsung’s metal smartphone, but right now its too soon to be absolutely sure that its on the cards for 2014.

78 Percent Of All Apple Mobile Devices Now Run iOS 7

78 Percent Of All Apple Mobile Devices Now Run iOS 7

Earlier this year at the Worldwide Developers Conference Apple unveiled iOS 7, its greatest iOS update yet. The company completely changed the user interface of iOS and also bundled in dozens of new features. After a lengthy beta period, in which the firmware was only seeded to registered developers, Apple finally released iOS 7 to the public in September. Since then iOS 7′s dominance over its predecessors has increased by the day. Last figures, as of December 29th, from Apple reveal that 78 percent of all of its iOS devices around the world are now powered by iOS 7.

Its predecessor, iOS 6, now accounts for 18 percent whereas the versions before that collectively make up four percent. iOS 7′s growth has increased significantly over the past few months. Back in October distribution stats showed that iOS 7 was installed on 64 percent of all devices. In early December the number had jumped to 74 percent. Surely the number would have been even higher if iOS 7 supported a number of legacy iOS devices that were very popular back in the day, including iPhone 3GS, the original iPad and all iPod touch models prior to the fifth generation iPod touch. With the recent release of an iOS 7 untethered jailbreak, its likely that those who had willingly held on to iOS 6.x might make the jump now that they can unshackle their devices on the latest firmware version as well.
