Genius man used one first class airplane ticket to eat free for a year

Airports are often terrible places to be. There are too many people rushing somewhere combined with too many cranky folks leaving somewhere mixed with annoying obstacles in the form of TSA security and rolling luggages. But it’s just like that for us normal folk. For first class flyers? It’s like being a rock star. One genius man took advantage of his rock star status and used one single first class airplane ticket to eat food for free for an entire year.

Microsoft’s Office Web Apps Could Be Rebranded To Office Online

officeonline-500x244Earlier today Microsoft rebranded their cloud storage service, SkyDrive, to OneDrive. The rebranding was reportedly due to an ongoing lawsuit between Microsoft and a UK broadcasting company who felt that the names were too similar. In any case hot on the heels of the rebranding, it seems that Microsoft might not be stopping there. According to ZDNET, Microsoft is expected to rebrand Office Web Apps as well, and will most likely be rebranding them as Office Online instead. These changes will also apply to the individual apps where they will be known as Word Online, Excel Online, PowerPoint Online, and OneNote Online, with Office Online templates expected to be released to users.

No word on when Microsoft will be launching this rebranding, but it seems that Microsoft could finally be doing what they said back in 2007 which was to rebrand and reposition its Office Online website, which at the moment is more of a place for Office subscribers to login as well as a platform where Microsoft can promote the Office 365 suite, so by rebranding Office Web Apps to Office Online, perhaps they can be used in conjunction with the website as well. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.

Select OneDrive Users Receiving Extra 20GB Of Storage

onedriveAs you might have heard the news by now, Microsoft has recently renamed their SkyDrive cloud storage service to OneDrive, and as part of that rebranding process, it seems that Microsoft has also reached out to loyal OneDrive users and offered them an additional free 20GB of storage. According to reports, Microsoft has started to send out emails informing these selected users that they will receive extra storage space as thanks for remaining loyal to the OneDrive service. We’re not sure what sort of requirements one has to meet in order to qualify for the extra storage (it has been speculated that it might only be for paying customers), but if you have been using the service for a while, be sure to keep an eye out on your inbox for the email!

This is not the first time that Microsoft has given out free storage. Back in 2013, Microsoft also gave early adopters of Outlook.com extra free storage, and the same was then applied to Windows Phone customers who were given an extra 20GB of storage themselves. In any case if you’re a OneDrive user who has been given the extra 20GB of storage, do let us know in the comments below, and for those who did not get the extra space, we’re sorry to hear!

OS X 10.10 Could Feature A Flatter Design

MacBook-Pro-with-OS-X-Mavericks-640x393While iOS 7 and OS X will not be merging anytime soon, it seems that at least in terms of visuals, there will be some kind of unification. According to a report from 9to5Mac, they claim that the upcoming OS X 10.10, which has been given the codename “Syrah”, will take some design cues from iOS 7 and feature a flatter look compared to OS X Mavericks. However it should be noted that the visual changes will not be as dramatic as compared to iOS 6 to iOS 7, presumably because they don’t want their users to be completely thrown off by the new look which was one of the problems that Microsoft faced when they introduced Windows 8 to new users upgrading from older versions of Windows.

It is unclear as to what else we might expect from OS X 10.10 or when we can look forward to it being announced and released, but assuming Apple is keeping to an annual release cycle, chances are we might see it towards the later part of 2014. The folks at MacRumors have also reported seeing low levels of activity from devices running on OS X 10.10, although that is unsurprising given that Apple is probably working on it already and it could be in its early development stages. In any case what do you guys think? Would you be interested in a flatter OS X?
