    Microsoft Introduces OneDrive As A SkyDrive Rebrand

    onedriveThere is nothing quite like a rebranding exercise once in a while to make sure that your product remains fresh in peoples’ memories, not to mention ensuring that it enters into the consciousness of many. Microsoft has just rebranded their cloud storage service to OneDrive, where it was formerly known as SkyDrive. This move came about after the software giant had a dispute with British Sky Broadcasting Group (BSkyB) concerning the SkyDrive moniker. I guess you can call OneDrive the cloud service formerly known as SkyDrive. All right, that was pretty lame.

    Google Prepared To Purchase AI Start-Up DeepMind

    google_logoWhen you are a company that is flush with cash and is one of the major players in the market in which you’re in, then you can be sure that sometimes, it might be more affordable to actually purchase another company which has the technology you are looking for to assimilate them into your DNA, rather than to go through the trouble and spending the additional time into research and development which might end up being a whole lot more expensive than originally expected. This is what the likes of Google has done in the past, and will continue to do so in the future – with us receiving word that they will be picking up British artificial intelligence start-up DeepMind for approximately $400 million.
