Android 4.3 For Sony Xperia T, TX, V And SP Expected Next Month

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean might not be the latest iteration of Google’s mobile platform, but still there are a plethora of devices that have yet to be updated to said firmware. As it has often been mentioned, there are a number of steps that an update has to go through before its actually rolled out to end users. There has been much chatter about when Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is going to be released for Sony Xperia T, TX, V and SP. The company has put an end to rumors, it has revealed in a tweet that the update will start rolling out from the end of January and will become available for everyone by early February.

There exists the possibility that Jelly Bean might be the last major update that these devices receive for a long time. Sony’s list of devices that will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat in the near future doesn’t include these Xperia models. While Sony hasn’t outright denied the possibility of these devices ever receiving KitKat, its still a long shot. Users looking to get a taste of KitKat on their devices might have to resort to custom ROMs based on Android 4.4, nothing can be said for sure right now about an official release.

Chinese Counterfeiters Don't Knock-Off Wearables, No One Wants Them

When you’ve got a hit, somebody’s gonna try to rip it off. The rule is almost universal, applying to erotic fiction books the same way it applies to iPhones. You could argue, then, that if nobody’s ripping off your work, you’re probably in trouble.

Apple FaceTime Invention Boasts Of Face Morphing And Image Matching To Ensure That Video Remains Smooth

Apple FaceTime Invention Boasts Of Face Morphing And Image Matching To Ensure That Video Remains SmoothEarlier this morning, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published an Apple invention which replaces the frames that are dropped during a low-bandwidth FaceTime call, relying on pre-recorded as well as doctored images to get the job done. This is a transparent process which to the end user, it would seem as though the entire video feed is seamless. Pretty nifty work, don’t you think so?

<1--more-->This particular patent application from Apple has been titled “Video transmission using content-based frame search,” and it is all set to deal with dropped frames in a FaceTime video call. This particular issue has been a bane to select iPhone or iPad users as they communicate using a low-bandwidth connection. Right now, video communication over cellular data has proven to be less than optimal in a fair number of areas, especially due to bandwidth restrictions as well as existing wireless technology.

This particular technology would also do its bit to cut back on data consumption, since coefficients can be used to dynamically reproduce a scene from an already transmitted video. Imagine inserting one artificially generated video frame for each three live frames, it would result in quite a substantial savings. It remains to be seen whether this invention would be implemented one of these days.

Mobile World Congress 2014 Keynote Speakers Include Mark Zuckerberg

The Mobile World Congress 2014 takes place next month in Barcelona. This event is attended by major players in the phone industry, not to mention the fact that there’s coverage from global media. Its certainly a big deal, and we often see new devices being announced at MWC. The event isn’t all about devices, there are meetings and discussions as well as keynote speeches from some of the top people in the industry. This year’s opening keynote isn’t going to be delivered by a CEO of a major phone manufacturer, its going to be delivered by the co-founder and CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg’s keynote speech will open Mobile World Congress 2014 on February 24th, it will be streamed online so you really don’t have to go all the way to Barcelona just to hear him speak. Joining him onstage is renowned journalist David Kirkpatrick. They will discuss “extending the benefits of ubiquitous internet access to the unconnected world.” Zuckerberg isn’t the only high-profile personality making a keynote speech, other speakers include IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum and more. We will be on the ground in Barcelona to bring you the latest updates from MWC 2014.
