Police Shutdown Pedophile Ring Accused Of Streaming Videos Online

Police Shutdown Pedophile Ring Accused Of Streaming Videos OnlineAs if being able to find photos and videos of child porn online wasn’t horrible enough, it seems that pedophiles have taken their perversion to a whole new level when they started to offer live streaming of videos of people abusing children. Well the good news is that thanks to the combined efforts of police in the UK, US, and Australia, they have managed to take down an international ring of pedophiles who have been accused of streaming live videos of children being abused in the Philippines. According to the report, police have managed to arrest 29 people as part of “Operation Endeavor”. The investigation was launched back in 2012 and while it did take a while, we guess it’s better late than never.

So far 15 children aged between 6 and 15 have been taken into custody, with police estimating that payments amounting to $61,268 have been made so far, with some of them going to the families of the children who reportedly were complicit in selling the videos as well. According to the National Crime Agency’s Deputy Director of Child Exploitation and Online Protection, Andy Baker, “This investigation has identified some extremely dangerous child sexual offenders who believed paying for children to be abused to order was something they could get away with. Being thousands of miles away makes no difference to their guilt. In my mind they are just as responsible for the abuse of these children as the contact abusers overseas.”

HP’s Upline: Affordable Unlimited Online Storage

This article was written on April 08, 2008 by CyberNet.

hpupline Lately there have been all kinds of file storing and sharing services popping up. It was just several weeks ago that we wrote about Dropbox, and gave out 50 invites to readers (with many more still trying to get an invite) so that they too could checkout the service. Now yesterday, HP announced that they were getting into the online storage arena by launching a new service called Upline.  In our opinion, this is probably one of the more significant happenings in online storage because a big name like HP is backing it and will surely use their resources to promote it. Another reason it is significant is because while they charge a small fee per month, all subscribers are given unlimited storage.

When I say a small fee, it really is reasonable. Their plans are all unlimited, it just depends on how many users you want to be able to access and use the service.

    • Home Plan – available to 1 user for $4.99 per month
    • Family Plan – available to 3 users for $6.99 per month
    • Professional Plan – available to 3-100 users for $8.99 per month

Because it’s unlimited, you can upload all you’d like whether it be documents or photos to share with friends and family. The other feature that is enticing is that because it’s online storage, users will have access to all of their files no matter where they are, as long as they have an Internet connection. It appears as though they’re not too concerned about bandwidth limitations because nowhere on their site could we find any information on it.

    Features include:

    • automatic backup
    • 1-click restore
    • access from anywhere
    • share with friends
    • management dashboard (Professional users only)
    • priority support (Professional users only)

In the past we’ve seen services like DivShare come in and offer unlimited storage for free and then we’ve seen them scale back because it was too much to handle. We can’t see HP yanking away the unlimited storage from users for a couple of reasons. First of all, they are charging users for the service. Granted, it’s not a lot of money that they’re charging, but users are still paying. Secondly, HP is a big company and they’ve been around for a while. At the end of the day, they’ve got the resources needed to keep Upline going.

While reading the FAQ, I noticed a few interesting facts. The first is that if you have about 5GB of files you want backed-up, it will take almost a whole day to complete it.  They say that they backup at about 150-250 MB per hour so that one GB takes about 4-5 hours to complete. Another interesting fact is that if you make a small change to a file, Upline will only backup the changes that have been made and they call this differential backup.

Overall, we’d say that this is a rather promising backup and file sharing storage solution.  If you’d like to get started, just go here and you’ll see the different plans with the option to “Buy Now.”

Windows Phone Cortana Voice Assistant Feature Rumored To Arrive In April

Windows Phone Cortana Voice Assistant Feature Rumored To Arrive In AprilBack in 2013, we heard the rumors that Microsoft could be looking to introduce a voice assistant feature to their Windows Phone handsets which has been codenamed Cortana, after the AI in the Halo franchise. One of the interesting features is that Cortana will have an always-listening mode much like the Moto X meaning that users will not have to press any buttons in order to activate it, making it pretty convenient. In any case according to the latest rumors from MSFTNerd, it seems that Cortana will be voiced by none other than Jen Taylor, the same voice actress for Cortana in the Halo video games, and that the voice assistant feature will be released to Windows Phone devices this April.

Given that the Build conference is scheduled around that time as well, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to think that is when Microsoft will be taking the opportunity to announce the new feature. As expected Microsoft is rumored to be introducing Cortana across its range of products and services, such as the Bing app for iOS users, the Xbox One, and possibly even Windows users in the Windows “Threshold” update which has reportedly been scheduled for 2015. In any case it’s not completely out of the question to think that Microsoft is developing a voice assistant feature of their own, but as to whether it performs as advertised is the better question.

Pantech Vega Iron 2 Rumored For April Released

Pantech Vega Iron 2 Rumored For April ReleasedAccording to the rumor mill, we can expect the Samsung Galaxy S5 to be announced in the next few months. However it seems that Samsung will not be alone in announcing a new phone and that their South Korean rival, Pantech, will reportedly be launching a new phone as well in the form of the Vega Iron 2. If you’re wondering why that name sounds so familiar, it is because back in 2013, Pantech announced the first Vega Iron. The phone featured a pretty nice and sleek design and packed pretty impressive hardware specs as well, although its selling point is admittedly its extremely thin bezel which gives off a edge-to-edge display.

In any case according to reports coming out of Korea, the Vega Iron 2 is expected to be released in April, which is roughly around the same time the Galaxy S5 will be launch/released, give or take a few days/weeks. No word on the specifications of the Vega Iron 2, but apparently it will sport a metal design, like its predecessor, and will also incorporate a fingerprint scanner which is also one of the Galaxy S5’s rumored specifications. Either way Pantech is said to be competing with the Galaxy S5, although whether they are successful or not is an entirely different story. In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for more information so be sure to check back with us at a later date for the details!

Huawei Denies New Allegations Of Intentional Software Vulnerability

Huawei Denies New Allegations Of Intentional Software VulnerabilityIn an interesting turn of events, it seems that Huawei has recently been accused of purposely allowing their products to have weak holes to allow spy agencies, like the NSA, to easily hack into them for spying purposes. Like we said this is rather ironic because it wasn’t too long ago that Huawei was fending off allegations that it was acting as a spy for the Chinese government which almost had the Chinese company exit the US market.
