Samsung SM-T330 Tablet Sighted, Possible AMOLED Model

samsunglogoIs Samsung working on a new tablet? Thanks to India export website, Zauba, a listing for a certain Samsung SM-T330 has been sighted. The device has arrived in Bangalore where it will reportedly undergo testing and based on the document, the SM-T330 is said to be of the 8-inch variety, so safe to say that this is not a smartphone, unless Samsung is really planning on pushing the boundaries at what is an acceptable level for a smartphone display. In any case it seems that the same model was recently sighted at the Bluetooth SIG as well and according to the model number, some speculate that this could be the next Galaxy Tab device.

This is because previous 8-inch Galaxy Tab devices had model numbers that were somewhat similar to what was sighted at Zauba and the Bluetooth SIG. In fact chances are this device could be one of the newer Samsung tablets that would feature an AMOLED display. According to a rumor we heard the other day, Samsung is said to be getting ready to mass produce AMOLED displays which could be used in tablets. One of the sizes mentioned was 8-inches while the other is a 10-inch model. Either way take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for more info.

Nintendo Wii U Will Not Receive A Price Cut

wiiufirmware-delayOne of the defining features of the Nintendo Wii U would be its GamePad. The GamePad, for those unfamiliar, is essentially a second screen for the Wii U, always gamers to stream games from the Wii U onto it for times when the television might be in use. It is also used as a gaming accessory. However apparently there is some confusion regarding the GamePad, at least according to analyst David Gibson who tweeted during Nintendo’s investor call that one of the Wii U’s weakness, according to Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata, would be how the GamePad is being thought of as an accessory for the Wii, instead of the Wii U.

Gibson also mentioned that there will be no price cuts for the Wii U anytime soon, which we guess is bad news for gamers who were hoping that during Nintendo’s troubles that a price cut would be in order in a bid to help drum up some sales. It was recently that Iwata took to stage to announce some of their plans for the Wii U’s future, one of which might involve the creation of apps and not games for mobile devices. He also suggested that failing to target the kids demographic could be one of the reasons why the Wii U is doing badly as well. Iwata also suggested that Nintendo’s future could include a platform that would be health-related, an interesting departure from the company’s current core competency which are games. What do you guys think? Do you agree that recognition of the Wii U is one of the reason it isn’t doing so well?

Mozilla Will Attend MWC 2014 To Show Off Firefox OS’ Progress

zte-open-firefox-osWhen it comes to smartphone operating systems, there are many to choose from. We have iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, Tizen, Firefox OS, and Sailfish OS, just to name a few. However when it comes to platforms that are dominating, safe to say that iOS and Android are probably the two most popular platforms available in the market at the moment, but does that mean that other platforms don’t stand a chance? Well whatever it is, it seems that the folks at Mozilla aren’t planning on giving up yet. The company launched Firefox OS back in 2013 and had accompanying hardware like the ZTE Open and the Alcatel One Touch Fire.

Both devices weren’t particularly exciting, save for their operating system which was new and interesting, but could Mozilla be planning some kind of major push this year at MWC 2014? According to the folks at CNET, the answer would be yes. They claim that “Mozilla will return to the mobile megashow with a press conference to spread its message like wildfire, and to show off its latest progress and products.” We’re not sure if that was designed to hype up Mozilla’s plans or if the company really has something interesting to share with the world, but as we will be live at MWC 2014 ourselves, we will be definitely keeping an eye to see what Mozilla might have in store for us. In the meantime what do you guys think? Anyone excited to see what the future might hold for Firefox OS?

Samsung Named Most Trusted Brand In India

samsung_logo_720wWhat does it mean to “trust” a brand? Does it mean that we trust that the company will always work in the best interest of its customers, shareholders, and stakeholders? Does it mean that products/services are reliable? Well depending on what your definition of trust is, it seems that over in India, Samsung has managed to be named as the country’s most trusted brand, beating companies such as Sony and local company Tata in the process. Prior to this, in 2013 Samsung came in second place, Sony in third, and Tata in fifth, at least according to the Brand Trust Award 2014.

However it looks like this year all companies have moved up in ranks, with Samsung taking first, Sony second, and Tata third, although based on this we guess Tata had the biggest improvement. It really does not come as a surprise to see Samsung doing so well. In terms of Android smartphones, Samsung is currently leading the pack and are dominating the rest of the manufacturers out there, so much so that Samsung themselves are starting to think that their reliance on Google might be too great, leading them to develop an alternative in the form of Tizen. Samsung is also expected to launch the Galaxy S5 this year, one of the more highly-anticipated smartphones of the year.
