Angry Birds Website Hacked, Known As Spying Birds Instead

spying-birdsIt seems that birds are not the only ones who get angry – hackers too, have emotions. They are human after all, and a bunch of hackers have defaced the official Angry Birds website earlier today, citing them as Spying Birds with the NSA logo located right smack on the forehead of the red bird. This defacement of the website came about after reports that both of the U.S. and U.K. intelligence agencies have been gathering user information from the Angry Birds game as well as other popular mobile apps. Rovio, however, has stepped forward to claim that they have not allowed the NSA to spy on Angry Bird gamers.

Plants Could Grow Better After Collecting Agricultural Data

biosensor-plantIf you think that plants do not communicate, here is an update on such a viewpoint – they actually boast of a communication system which comprises of electrical signals which will activate in response to external stimuli, and these signals happen to be a valuable form of data. Such data happen to be produced only by plants when they are exposed to sunlight, pollutants, nutrients or pests. PLEASED happens to be a project from the W-Lab of the University of Rome, Italy, where the main focus would be on the gathering of raw data from plants which are happily residing outside, so that meaningful interpretations can be obtained from such signals. The reason behind this effort? To harness plants as valuable and ubiquitous living sources of data which will inform humans of the various changes in the environment so that we can respond better.

Microsoft’s OneDrive Name Enters Into Another Legal Dispute

onedriveIt was just a couple of days ago that we brought you word of Microsoft announcing a rebranding of their SkyDrive service, where it is now known as the OneDrive brand. The reason behind this rebranding exercise is not because the company has too much money and time on their hands that they do not know what to do with it, but rather, after Microsoft went into a dispute with British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB, which trades as ‘Sky’), where the latter claimed that Microsoft’s SkyDrive brand would have infringed upon its own trademark. However, the OneDrive brand has opened the door to another dispute, as Thomas Medard Frederiksen, chief operating officer of One.com, claims that his company is now “consulting trademark experts” after the rebranding exercise, citing that OneDrive happens to share a moniker which is too close for One.com’s very own cloud service.

Tomb Raider On Xbox One And PS4 Share Same Assets, Says Square Enix

Square Enix, the publisher for Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, claims that the assets in that game for both the Xbox One as well as the Sony PS4 are similar, although I am quite sure that this is one debate which will not die down anytime soon. The publisher is adamant that both versions share similar quality textures, particles and models, and it would be interesting to see if someone else other than Square Enix would come up and agree with definitive proof, or otherwise.

YouTubers Claim That No Opinions Were Bought In EA’s Paid Content Incentives

youtube-new-logoYouTube, EA, and Microsoft among other parties were singled out this month after it became known that they were involved in paid video incentives, where both EA and Microsoft supposedly paid content creators to mention positive things concerning their games, which needless to say, sparked off various claims of bias. It is to the parties who are under fire that has experienced a certain level of redemption, where several personalities actually stepped up to ensure the situation is crystal clear – or at the very least, a whole lot less murky.
