Richard Sherman Gives the Best Twitter Advice You'll Ever Get

Richard Sherman is a very talented football player, and I, like many of you, have become a fan. It’s clear that in the post-NFC championship days, he’s emerged as a divisive character. No matter your opinion, when it comes to Twitter he has some very sage advice. From a post he wrote earlier this week on the MMBQ:

Office 2003 and Office 2007 Toolbar/Ribbon Size Comparison

This article was written on September 25, 2006 by CyberNet.

Office 2003 vs. Office 2007

I had been wondering for quite some time what the actual size difference was between the Office 2007 Ribbon and the Office 2003 toolbars. There is no better way to do the comparison than to put the two side-by-side.

As you can see in the screenshot above the Ribbon is obviously larger even when you have 3 rows of toolbars open in Office 2003. I measured the difference to be about 20 pixels but in Office 2003 I typically only have 1 row of toolbars…which measures in at a 72 pixel difference.

However, with the latest release of Office 2007 Beta 2 TR I have setup the Ribbon to auto-minimize itself. That means I actually save 20 pixels by using the Ribbon! The minimize feature is great because most of the commands that I need are now located on the right-click menu anyway.

Sometimes I miss having the toolbars flowing all around my window but the Ribbon also has a place in my heart now. 🙂

Rockaroo turns the infant swing into a high-tech gadget

Hush, little baby, and let this robotic swing lull you to sleep.

(Credit: 4moms)

The infant swing is a simple concept. You suspend the little tyke from above, give the swing a little push, and let it sway the baby gently back and forth to calm the child. Now, let’s apply a bit of robotics, multi-speed control, a speaker, and an MP3 player plug-in. You get the 4moms Rockaroo.

The other noticeable difference between the Rockaroo and a regular infant swing is that the motion comes from below, not with a couple of arms suspending the wee one. That makes it more like a high-tech rocking horse, or the tiny kid version of a mechanical bull, but with a mellow attitude.

The Rockaroo’s five speeds vary from a very gentle movement all the way to insane. I made that last one up; all the speeds are really just variations on gentle. The built-in speakers and audio-in jack means parents can serenade the little one with soothing musi… [Read more]

The Time the U.S. Invaded a Japanese Submarine Base... in Alaska?

An absolutely fascinating but little-known story—described as a "forgotten theater" by the U.S. Navy itself—is the tale of Kiska and Attu, Alaska: two remote Aleutian islands where the Japanese military established a submarine base during World War II.

Sony Xperia Z2 “Sirius” Release Date, Specs & News Round-Up

Sony Xperia Z2 Sirius Release Date, Specs & News Round UpWith MWC 2014 around the corner, we expect many smartphone manufacturers to take the opportunity to announce new devices. After all with the event’s focus being purely towards mobile, unlike CES which covers a much wider range of products, it does seem to make perfect sense. This year at MWC it is expected that Sony will announce a couple of new devices, and one of them is expected to be the company’s flagship smartphone for 2014 which has been referred to many times by its codename, Sirius, or alternatively it has been suggested that it could be known as the Sony Xperia Z2 upon its release, the successor to last year’s Sony Xperia Z1. Pill Reminder just wants to keep you healthy

    Pill reminder
Staying on a good regimen of vitamins or needed medical prescriptions can be very difficult. It’s one more tiny thing to remember in a day, and while taking it with breakfast seems like a great idea, there are always those days we skip eating because we’re running late. Usually one of the last things you do before running out the door is brushing your teeth, because no one wants to sniff on some bad breath.

Instead of putting your pills next to your toothbrush, why not rig it so that your toothbrush will remind you to take your meds? The Pill Reminder is a simple idea, and might just make your life a lot easier. This system places your prescription behind your toothbrush, and as you pull your toothbrush away, your pills will pop up and that will act as your reminder.

There are of course, a few issues with this system. Even though it’s easy to install, it does have a size limit for both the handle of the the toothbrush and the container for the pills. That being said, you’d have to spend $27 on this contraption, and more on a different container that will hold your pills if they’re loose. Another problem is that not all pills are tiny, and if you have to take medicine that looks as though it was actually intended for a horse, it’s certainly not going to work with this. While it’s a swell idea, it is a bit of a niche product as it’s not going to suit everyone’s needs.
