iPhone 5c Found To Be Popular Amongst Women In Britain

iPhone 5c Found To Be Popular Amongst Women In BritainWhen Apple launched the iPhone 5c, many expected it to be a success due to its slightly lower price point. Unfortunately that was not the case and sales of the iPhone 5c definitely did not live up to expectations. In fact some might even call it a flop. That being said, who might be the iPhone 5c’s biggest customers? After all the device is selling, it’s just not selling as well as Apple would have liked. Well in a new study by Kantar, they have found that over in Britain, sales of the iPhone 5c are slowly catching up to that of the iPhone 5s. (more…)

When it comes to choosing a smartphone for ourselves, we think about its specs, its look, its price, and so on. The Walk App Makes Exercising Enjoyable By Telling You A Story

The Walk App Makes Exercising Enjoyable By Telling You A StoryRunning/walking in place at the treadmill can be a pretty boring affair. In fact the monotony of running/walking is felt by many although admittedly it is a pretty crucial exercise for those looking to build some stamina and stay in shape. That being said, how come it feels so different when we’re walking with friends and we don’t realize how far we’ve walked? Perhaps it could be due to an interesting conversation that distracted you from the walk, and that’s pretty much what The Walk app is hoping to do. Developed by the UK’s National Health Service and Department of Health, The Walk is an app available for purchase via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

So what is it about? Well in order to distract the user from a potentially long and tiring walk, the app will tell an original story in which the listener will have to try and deduce why a bomb exploded in the train station. It will also allow the listener to avoid hostile agents and the police, and also how a mysterious package that you’ve been given will help to save the world. The app will also come with a pedometer to track your steps and map it out, although the app will be optimized or iOS devices with the M7 co-processor which allows for more accurate tracking that does not use up a lot of battery.

Google’s Schmidt: We don’t (yet) have a connection inside your brain

    Not inside you yet.

(Credit: The Blaze/YouTube screenshot by Chris Matyszczyk/CNET)

When I heard that Google’s Eric Schmidt had sat down to chat with a curiously trendy-looking Glenn Beck, I was hoping for questions like: “C’mon, Eric. Are you a commie?”

Instead, what ensued was a conversation about man and machine achieving perfect harmony, something that Lenin spectacularly failed to master.

Some might suspect that, in Google’s eyes, such harmony would involve Google being able to control your arm as it reaches to scratch your head.

Schmidt, though, was at pains to put that concept to rest.

He said: “Google does not have a connection inside of your brain.”

Which doesn’t mean that it wouldn’t make Larry Page sing Tosca in his self-driving Prius, should it ever come to pass.

Indeed, Schmidt then offered this follow-up: “We’re not that good. Maybe yet. Maybe never.”

This uncharacteristic spurt of modesty surely covers a burning need, you might imagine, to turn humans into the machines of the machines.

To this, Schmidt offered: “What we’re very good at, if you look at the AI is, we’re very good at looking at historical patterns and, based on historical patterns, suggesting things.”

Oh, yes. And just as good at excluding other things.[Read more]

Kaspersky Internet Security To Arrive On Windows Phone Soon

Kaspersky Internet Security To Arrive On Windows Phone SoonAs long as a device is connected to the internet, there’s always the off-chance that it might be infected by malware. In the past we have heard of how various malwares have targeted Android devices (those reports are starting to become less frequent these days), and to a certain extent iOS and WIndows Phone handsets as well. That being said having an added layer of protection apart from the default ones in the operating system will definitely help and go a long way in keeping your phone and information safe, which is why Windows Phone owners might be interested to learn that Kaspersky Labs will be releasing their Internet Security app for the platform soon.

This was first revealed by WP7Forum.ru and later confirmed by the folks at Windows Phone Central who checked with Kaspersky Labs who were at MWC 2014. Unfortunately they did not have a phone with a demo app available so we’re not sure what sort of features we can expect, but apparently the app is in its final certification process which means that it will probably be launched soon. Based on what we know about the Android version of the app, presumably the Windows Phone version will share some, if not all of its features, such as protection against viruses, spyware, Trojans, and more; the ability to scan your device at will; anti-theft protection that lets you lock, locate, or wipe your device when it has been stolen; call and text filters, and so on.
