Selfies are so fun. You’ve got your cool background—ideally, a sun-soaked beach or a compelling urban environment—and you’ve got your cool friends. Ideally lots of them. Just flip that phone around, put your heads together, smile, and watch those Instagram likes roll in for hours. But it’s too good to be true, folks.
Unless you’re living it up in California right now—full disclosure: I am—this winter has been particularly relentless. Is there hope beyond the cold and snow and slush? Yes indeedy. But it might take a minute, so in the meantime here are some beautiful GIFs of flowers blooming.
For years the way everyone stored extra toilet paper by hiding it in one way or another. Who were we kidding? Why were we ever being modest in the least modest room in the house? Now you can not only store your extra loo rolls out in plain sight — and even be making a design statement with them. The Toilet Paper Tree is a new way to store your extra tissue and hearkens back to the days of your misspent youth when you put toilet paper in trees for a different reason.
If you and your bedmate wake up at different times in the morning, the Privacy Pillow’s leather-lined secret compartment will let the earlier riser use their smartphone as an inaudible vibrating alarm that’s impossible to miss when it’s time to get out of bed.

The cured pork meat and fat sausages above—a type of thin salchichón called fuet in Catalonia, Spain—are truly delicious, with a wonderfully intense umami flavor. They are also excellent for your health, as good as having a yogurt, because they are full of probiotics. Oh, they are also made with poop. Baby poop.
Microsoft and Apple Both Prospering

Even though the economy isn’t at its best, both Microsoft and Apple seem to be doing well. A couple of recent articles point this out:
In Microsoft’s annual revenue report, they announced that they have seen the fastest revenue growth since 1999 which fueled a 32% increase in earnings per share. Helping their earnings was none other than Windows Vista. Thus far they have sold over 180 million licenses since launch which isn’t too shabby at all. Also helping revenue was Microsoft Office and the Xbox 360. Their annual revenue was $60.42 billion which is an 18% increase from their last fiscal year. No one can argue that $60 billion is an impressive number.
Apple isn’t doing too shabby either when it comes to sales of computers. A recent report is saying that Apple’s sales of computers grew 38% over the previous period. This now gives them 8.5% of the market. It certainly doesn’t come close to the market share that PC’s enjoy, but it does make them one of the fastest growing computer manufacturers out there.
People can jump to conclusions that one company, either Microsoft or Apple, is better than the other, but when it comes down to it, both are very successful in what they do which is important.
