Windows users, if you’d like to get your hands on a mapping alternative that isn’t Google Maps or Bing Maps, you might be interested to learn that Nokia will be releasing their Here Maps application for free over the next few days to Windows 8.1 users. If there is one thing that cannot be disputed, it is that both iOS and Android have more apps in their app store compared to Windows Phone. This is hardly surprising as Windows Phone is not the most popular platform, so why would developers want to bother? In a way it almost feels like Windows Phone is like the Wii U of smartphones, where despite it being a decent platform, it commands a lower user base due to there not being enough apps (one of the reasons), and its low user base has discouraged developers from creating for it. That being said, Statistic Brain has put together some numbers which might surprise you.
According to their data, they have found that Android is the leader in downloads, however despite that, their app revenue is around $1.2 billion. This is no small figure but in contrast to Windows Phone whose app downloads is only a fraction of Android, their app revenue is at $0.95 billion, which is pretty close to what Android is making. Statistic Brain breaks it down further and finds that Windows Phone developers essentially make on average about $0.23 per download, versus Android developers who only make $0.04. As for iOS, they are leading in app revenue at $6.4 billion which puts them at $0.24 per download.

People, muster up all your creative juices and imagine the most ridiculous bed you can think of. Is it a waterbed? Obviously. Can it play music from your iPhone? Totally. Does it vibrate to the beat of that music? Yes, it can. Can it sync 50 LED lights to the beating of your heart? Yup.
Updates are always a welcome thing, right? Since most updates tend to do away with bugs and introduce new features, it is understandable why they are, for the most part, welcome. However there are times when an update might be too drastic, thus holding users back from updating, like when iOS 6 was updated to iOS 7, and when Microsoft introduced Windows 8. That being said, a study conducted by ComputerWorld has revealed that in terms of upgrading themselves to the latest version of the operating system, Mac users are apparently four times more likely to do so than Windows users.
According to their findings, “Apple’s convinced 41.6 percent of Mac users who acquired their system since 2001 and still actively use them online to adopt the current edition of the OS,” versus Microsoft’s 11.6%. Of course it should be noted that the latest build of OS X, Mavericks, is a free upgrade over its predecessor, a first for Apple. This might also explain why its adoption rate is higher than its predecessors as well, which were paid upgrades. We expect there might be other factors as well but what do you guys think? Why do you think that is?

Here’s a fun trick for pyros (which is pretty much every human ever). As a candle poofs out and leaves a smoke trail, you can re-light it again by igniting the smoke trail. The fire burns down and hits the wick and boom, let there be light.
